Abstract: There is described a computer-implemented method for authorizing a user device, comprising: use of a processor for receiving an extracted identifier transmitted by a secondary device to be authorized over a telecommunication network, the extracted identifier being previously extracted by the secondary device to be authorized from an acoustic signal generated by an authorized main device, the acoustic signal corresponding to a transmitted audio signal received by the authorized main device and having a reference identifier embedded therein; use of the processor for validating the received identifier; and upon successful validation, use of the processor for transmitting an authorization confirmation to the secondary device.

Abstract: A system and method for wirelessly transmitting audiovisual information. Training information may be stored in a memory. A plurality of packets may be generated, including the training information. The plurality of packets may also include audiovisual information. The plurality of packets may include first information identifying a first training pattern of a plurality of possible training patterns. The first training pattern may specify one or more locations of the training information in the plurality of packets. The first information may be usable by a receiver to determine the first training pattern of the plurality of possible training patterns. The plurality of packets may be transmitted in a wireless manner.

Abstract: Segmentation messages indicative of locations of upcoming events, such as the start and end of programs and program portions, and/or rights related to the programs and program portions, are used by cable systems and the like to store programs and program portions for later retrieval and transmission to customers on request. Storage, retrieval and management of programming is thereby facilitated. Methods and systems are disclosed.

Abstract: A method includes receiving a request at a media server from a computing device for a portion of a particular rendition of content that is available for adaptive streaming. The request received while the media server has access to a single rendition of the content. When the portion is part of the single rendition, the media server sends the portion retrieved from the single rendition to the computing device in response to the request. When the portion is not part of the single rendition, the media server generates the portion by transcoding a corresponding portion of the single rendition of the content, stores the generated portion in a cache of the media server, and sends the generated portion to the computing device in response to the request. The method further includes removing portions of one or more outdated renditions from the cache while maintaining the generated portion in the cache.

Abstract: A profile provider: (i) associates a set of devices (including two or more online devices and possibly a set-top box); and (ii) delivers an advertisement targeted using profile information associated with one of the online devices. The advertisement is presented along with media content. If the media content is viewed using a single-viewer display, then profile information is used that is associated with an online device used to select or receive the media content. If the media content is viewed using a multiple-viewer display, then profile information is used that is associated with an online device used to select, receive, or present the media content or with an online device associated with one or more of those online devices.

Abstract: Some demonstrative embodiments include apparatuses, systems and/or methods of controlling wireless transmission of video streams. For example, an apparatus may include a controller to control one or more windows to be displayed by a display device, the one or more windows to display video of one or more wireless video streams of a plurality of wireless video streams transmitted by a plurality of video sources, the controller is to request at least one video source of the plurality of video sources to set one or more attributes of a video stream transmitted by the video source based on at least one predefined criterion.

Data associated with scheduled program recording timers may be accumulated across accessible subscribing customers of a particular television provider. A ranking parameter may be assigned to particular programs associated with particular ones of the scheduled program recording timers. A list may be presented itemizing particular programs based on assigned ranking values.

Abstract: Systems and methods for mirroring and transcoding media content are provided. In some embodiments, media content stored on a user equipment device is mirrored on a remote server, and the mirrored copy is transcoded and provided to other user devices in a media content format that is appropriate for the user devices. By so doing, the present invention not only provides a convenient and easy way for users to backup media content and access the media content from virtually any device, but also reduces the complexity and costs associated with maintaining reliable and consistent access to media content across various user devices.

Abstract: Techniques for workout video delivery includes presenting to a viewer's client process first data indicates a matrix of video segments including a set of warmup video segments, cool-down video segments and middle video segments. Second data indicating two or more video segments selected by the viewer is obtained from the client process. Video from all the selected video segments is presenting automatically to the viewer.

Abstract: Methods of operating a communications system comprise, in one example, inserting advertising in a program stream by a receiving device based, at least in part, on an encrypted segmentation message embedded in the program steam. The at least one segmentation message defines an expanse of the program stream to receive the advertising. At least one embedded decoy message is included in the program stream, as well. In one example the receiving device, which may be a set-top terminal, for example, is coupled to a display device, such as a television, at a user location. A method of operating a receiving device coupled to a display device at a user location is also disclosed, comprising programming the receiving device to record a program and recording the program based, at least in part, on at least one segmentation message in a program stream. Systems are disclosed, as well.

Abstract: A transport stream provider for providing a plurality of transport stream packets describing digital media information is configured to provide a transport stream packet of a first packet type including a program association table and key information for decrypting encrypted media information. The program association table contains an association between a program No. and a packet type identifier of a further transport stream packet of a second packet type. The transport stream provider is configured to provide a transport stream packet of the second packet type in such a manner that the transport stream packet of the second packet type contains a reference to packet type identifiers of transport stream payload data packets which describe contents of different content types of the digital media information.

The second screen communication device is operable to select one or more of the plurality of messages for presentation on the second screen communication whenever the linear advertisement campaign is detected during the presentation on the ACR-enabled display communication device. Abstract: A second screen communication device that is paired with an automatic content recognition (ACR) enabled display communication device launches an interactive application in response to an invitation cue generated and presented by the ACR-enabled display communication device while the ACR-enabled display communication device is displaying linear broadcast content. The linear broadcast content is a non-IP based broadcast content. The interactive application launched on the second screen communication device enables interaction with interactive content displayed by a user interface on the second screen communication device based on the invitation cue. The second screen communication device may generate one or more control elements that are utilized to control the interaction with the interactive content.

Abstract: A method and system for providing content to a receiving device from a local headend is set forth. The local headend communicates channel data for content stored at a video server to a receiving device, receives a selection of the channel data to form selected content from the receiving device and communicates content corresponding to the selection to the receiving device. The local headend stores a purchase record corresponding to the selection at the local headend, associates the purchase record with the receiving device within the local headend and communicates a request for a callback from the local headend to the receiving device. The receiving device communicates a callback signal from the receiving device to an external headend comprising purchase data corresponding to the purchase record.

Abstract: A system and method for broadcasting to a plurality of client side devices over a network, such as the Internet, using visual layers for assembly in a media broadcast. In response to receiving input for simulating the media broadcast defined by content objects and arrangement of each layer in the simulation, transmitting the content objects for each of a plurality of the layers in a different live stream to each of the client side devices and transmitting design parameters defining the arrangement of the layers in the simulation to each of the client side devices. Each of the client side devices may be adapted to assemble the layers of a media broadcast according to the content objects and design parameters of the transmissions so that the content objects and design of the media broadcast assembled at each of the client side devices substantially matches that of the simulated media broadcast.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing correlated programming information for broadcast media content and streaming media content. In one implementation, a processing device receives first programming information, the first programming information including scheduling information for media content originating at a first source. The processing device generates, based on media content originating at a second source, second programming information, the second programming information including scheduling information for the media content originating at the second source. The processing device correlates the second programming information with the first programming information. The processing device provides, at an interface, (a) the first programming information and (b) the second programming information as correlated with the first programming information.
