Abstract: A press brake for bending plates. A press brake is provided for bending plates, including a pair of dies which act in mutual cooperation to bend a plate, a plate clamping manipulator which grasps and moves a plate which is to be placed in scheduled location with respect to the dies and a plate position detector mounted on the press brake in a specified positional relationship with respect to the dies, for detecting a position of the plate grasped by the manipulator, and a controller for controlling the manipulator in response to a signal from the plate position detector.
Abstract: Apparatus for bending steel bars to form concrete reinforcement elements, having a device (3, 4; 18) for feeding bars to a transfer device (8), by means of which in each case one group of bars can be inserted in two bending frames or stations, (2, 2'), each having members (11, 12) for bending the bars in transverse direction the transfer device having at least one pair of operation-controlled gripper tongs (10) which can be swivelled from a first position, in which they receive a plurality of bars from the bar feed device, and clamp the bars, into a second position, in which they insert the bars into the gap between the bending members.
Abstract: A forming pin having a shank, a head, a point, and a pair of like grooves on opposite sides of the shank is made by gripping an elongate wire in a position wherein an end of the wire is exposed, forming a head at the exposed end of the wire while gripped, advancing the wire by a predetermined distance, and simultaneously forming the point and forming the grooves. The forming pin thus formed is severed from the remaining wire as the point and the grooves are formed. A pair of dies are used, which are movable so as to pinch the wire therebetween, along with mechanisms for closing the dies. The dies are configured similarly to define suitable forming edges.
Abstract: A protective cover assembly is particularly adapted for a play gym having a horizontal beam member (12), a hanger bracket (15) supported from the beam member (12) and a pair of hanger bars (13 and 14) pivotally depending from the hanger bracket (15) for swinging motion through an angular extent. The protective cover assembly (10) itself utilizes a pair of mirror-image cover caps (55), each of which include a concavo-convex wall (60) that has an outer circumference and a central portion. A collar (63) extends through the central portion of the concavo-convex wall (60), and a peripheral wall (61) is presented from the outer circumference of the concavo-convex wall (60). The peripheral wall (61) is recessed (at 62) along a predetermined circumferential extent.
Abstract: Master carrier for a baton traversing drapery system comprises an elongated hanger adapted to be received in the horizontal gap of the conventional C-shaped type of traverse rod. The hanger element supports beneath the rod a platform having a rim along its outer edge which is inclined relative to the direction of travel. Spaced along the length of the inclined edge of the platform are a plurality of openings into which a drapery hook assembly can be installed and locked, by means of a clamp interacting with the rim of the platform. A pair of identical master carriers can be used to create an overlap in adjacent drapery panels without the necessity for using a projecting arm for this purpose. Attached to the outer face of the upper edge of the drapery is a baton which is attached to the drapery at substantially the point at which the drapery is suspended from the master carrier. Accordingly, when force is applied to the baton to move the drapery, little or no torque is created.
Abstract: The present invention entails a method and apparatus for applying tamper evident bands to a container. In particular, the apparatus of the present invention directs a supply strip of banding material to a cutter which cuts the supply strip into a series of cut bands. From the cutter, the respective cut bands are, one at a time, transferred to a suction source and held. A form is passed adjacent the suction source and strips the cut band from the suction source. While the cut band is held within the form, a container is passed thereunder, and because of the spacing of the form and the position of the container, the container top or lid engages a portion of the cut band held within the form and strips the cut band from the form. Thereafter, the container and cut form are passed underneath a vibrating plate, causing the plate to engage the cut band and to properly position the same about the container for subsequent heat treatment.
Abstract: A hinge mechanism is disclosed which is suitable for use on a pivotable character display for an electronic typewriter or portable computer. The hinge mechanism includes braking means for maintaining the character display in a viewing position, wherein friction is generated between disc shaped brake members of the hinge mechanism. Moreover, the addition of a cam in the hinge mechanism provides the selective use of torque to the braking means; the cam is engaged when the display is in a viewing position, preventing the display from slipping out of position, whereas the cam is not engaged when the display is near the horizontal, making it easier to raise and to lower the display. The hinge mechanism disclosed is suitable for use with multi-view position character displays as well as with single view position character displays.
Abstract: A double-pivot door hinge is disclosed that is particularly suited for household appliances such as refrigerators or microwave ovens. The hinge arrangement allows the appliance door to be opened a full 180 degrees from its closed position without coming into contact with a flush mounted wall such as an abutting kitchen cabinet. The hinge has a first pivot pin and a stop arrangement which allows a door to be swung outwardly until a 90-degree position is reached whereby the stop arrangement is engaged. Upon further outward movement, the assembly shifts to a second hinge pin until a 180-degree position is reached. The movement from the 90-degree position to a 180-degree position requires the overcoming of a spring force of the hinge arrangement.
Abstract: A food product packaging apparatus for a conveyor environment, and having a vacuum chamber operatively associated with the conveyor, which vacuum chamber is selectively moved into and out of a position in sealing engagement relative to the conveyor. A manifold, a vacuum source and conduit structure are included, the conduit structure connecting the manifold structure to the vacuum source and the vacuum chamber so that the vacuum source is selectively operable to draw a vacuum in the vacuum chamber through the manifold structure. A shuttle includes frame structure and drive structure for the frame structure so that the frame structure is movable in the direction of conveyor movement and, after a predetermined increment of movement, the frame structure shuttles opposite the direction of conveyor movement to a position to repeat movement in the direction of conveyor movement for a subsequent movement for the predetermined increment.
Abstract: A latex lid mounting apparatus includes a seat body and a lid accommodating device with a replaceable lid container. A beverage cup is placed on a cup positioning plate. Lids are superposed in the container. An ascending assembly activates a lid holding unit to move up and down between an upper limit position and a lower limit position. The lid holding unit includes an outer ring, an inner ring journalled in the outer ring, several links connected to the inner and outer rings, and a plurality of paw elements carried on the inner and outer rings. A rotation control device regulates relative rotation between the inner and outer rings, so as to move the paw elements between an inner limit position and an outer limit position. Under the guidance of the rotation control device, the lid holding unit holds the lowermost lid immediately before reaching the upper limit position, while covering the open upper end of the cup with the lid immediately before reaching the lower limit position.
Abstract: A hydraulic hinge that includes an elongated tubular member in which a first ring member with an axial opening and a downward projection is fixed and a second ring member having an opening aligned with the opening of the first ring member and a notched portion having a cam face to abut against the projection of the first ring is provided. A hollow shaft with a closed bottom and a first fluid filled piston chamber within the same is inserted through the openings of the first and second ring members, whereat the second ring member is sealed in a sleeve around the hollow shaft. The hollow shaft has an opening formed adjacent to its bottom closed. A seal member is sealed around the hollow shaft wherein the inner surface of the elongated tubular member, the second ring member, the seal member and the outer wall surface of the hollow shaft cooperatively confine a second fluid filled chamber which is in communication with the first hydraulic chamber through the opening.
Abstract: A resilient member handling apparatus comprising a frame, a mechanism on the frame for bowing successive resilient members, and a mechanism on the frame for forming a nested complement of the resilient members, the mechanism for forming including a first cage member stationarily mounted on the frame, and defining a primary chamber adapted to receive a resilient member, a second cage member stationarily mounted on the frame, and defining a secondary chamber adapted to receive a plurality of the resilient members, a mechanism for feeding resilient members one at a time into the primary chamber from the mechanism for bowing, and a mechanism for transferring the resilient members one at a time from the primary chamber to the secondary chamber.
Abstract: A hand held capper that will engage a cap for tightening the cap onto a container is provided and includes a clutch mechanism that will sense the torque between the cap and a neck of the container and will allow a cap driver chuck with an elastic chuck insert thereon to stop rotating once the desired torque is reached while allowing a spindle shaft from a drive unit to continue to rotate.
Abstract: A group of objects is packaged in a package formed of a blank having a base panel, base flaps joined at respective longitudinally extending fold lines to the base panel, a pair of side panels joined at respective transversely extending fold lines to and longitudinally flanking the base panel, and respective pairs of side flaps joined at respective longitudinally extending side fold lines to the side panels. Each pair of side flaps transversely flanks the respective side panel. The blank is advanced longitudinally parallel to the side fold lines to a loading station with the blank horizontal and similarly the group of objects is advanced horizontally and longitudinally to the station and deposited on the base panel there. The side flaps are folded up through about 90.degree. and thereafter the base flaps are folded up through between 45.degree. and 80.degree.. The side panels are then folded up through about 90.degree.
Abstract: An apparatus for slicing and bagging substantially flat food products comprising a frame and a holder conforming to the shape of the food product to be sliced for holding the food in vertical stacked alignment and removably attached to the frame and having at least one slicer faced toward the food product to be sliced and mounted across the holder; and a ram having recessed sections conforming with the slicer for completely driving the food products through the slicer and completely slicing the food products without contacting the slicer, and a coordinated follower positioned below the slicer, a small but effective distance from the slicer for receiving the food products as they are sliced and for preventing the food products from being flayed out of the vertical stacked alignment as the food is sliced and a bagging apparatus for progressively bagging the food as it is sliced and received from the slicer.
Abstract: A grommet assembly for a wall panel and method of installation. The grommet assembly includes a grommet structure for insertion into the aperture made through a wall panel and includes pivotal locking arms for locking at the back face of the wall panel. An insert sleeve provides a circular wall that upon insertion into the grommet pivots the pivotal lock arms of the grommet. The insert sleeve is further provided with snap-engagement members that snap-engage to the circular wall of the grommet so that the grommet assembly is fastened together and to the wall panel. A retention ring may be used prior to cutting an aperture in the wall to secure fabric, or other wall coverings, around the aperture to be cut to prevent displacement or tearing, and to protect the outer wall surface. The method includes the field installation of the grommet assembly from one side of a wall panel.
Abstract: An adjustable hinge assembly has a hinge and a mounting plate. The mounting plate is vertically adjustable on a cabinet wall and carries the hinge. The hinge is horizontally adjustable in and out on the mounting plate, and also has left and right horizontal adjustment on the mounting plate by way of a vertical fulcrum rib between the hinge and the mounting plate, which permits the hinge to be horizontally rocked.
Abstract: A releasable double-hinge device for an automobile console box that makes the box lid capable of being opened from either lateral side by simply sliding it sideways. The opened lid can be closed by a simple action of pushing it down. A number of pivotal pillars 3, each provided with a lock shaft 3b, are pivotally arranged on respective anchor pins 3d and kept upright along each of the lateral edges of the box main body 1 by means of respective recoil springs 4. A same number of lock sections 2a are arranged along and under each of the lateral edges of the box lid 2 in such a manner that the lock shafts of the pivotal pillars are received in respective slots 2b of the lock sections 2a to form a hinge.
Abstract: A battery lift handle which has a `U`-shaped rigid hand grip, a lift cord extending from the base of one of the legs of the hand grip and terminates at its other end in a head, the second leg having three slots, the uppermost slot opening to one side of the second leg, the lowermost slot extending upwardly from the base and opening to the other side of the second leg, and the intermediate slot extending laterally, so that the cord head can be inserted in the second leg very quickly by a single hand action of positioning the head into the upper slot, pulling the cord through the intermediate slot and then downwardly through the lowermost slot.
Abstract: A holder for a floor mat comprises at least one connecting device and at least one connecting member which has complementary connection devices whereby the connecting member may be connected in a releasable manner to at least two adjacent mat holders so as to secure the mat holders together.
