  • Patent number: 11204057
Abstract: An optimized thread profile (140) for joining composite materials is presented. This thread profile (140) maintains a certain material strength when used as part of a composite threaded joint (101). The thread profile (140) comprises a repeating pattern of four components: a crest region (150), a first flank (162), a root region (170) and a second flank (164). The thread profile (140) is symmetrical, that is, the dimensions of the four components do not change throughout the length of the thread profile. The crest (152) has a flat profile and the root (172) has a rounded profile. When a shaft (120) is affixed to a joining shaft (110) using this optimized thread profile (140), the flat profiles of the crest (152) of the shaft (120) and corresponding rounded profiles of the root (172) of the joining shaft (110) create a gap to accommodate a substance such as an adhesive or a lubricant.

  • Patent number: 11199214
Abstract: A quick fastening screw includes a head, a shank with spirally-disposed thread convolutions, and a drilling portion. Each thread convolution has at least three flank sections and at least three arc sections each formed between any two adjacent flank sections. Two ends of each arc section and the flank sections adjacent to the arc section are respectively intersected to thereby form two joints. Between the two joints is formed a curved cutting portion which forms a radian not more than a quarter of a maximum thread radius so that each curved cutting portion becomes sharp to cut quickly, speed up a screwing operation, decrease the friction between the thread convolutions and a workpiece, and reduce the resistance and torque. The non-circular thread convolutions also receive cut debris efficiently and prevent the cracking of the workpiece caused by the undue accumulation of the debris.

  • Patent number: 11187260
Abstract: A facade panel screw for the optimized fastening of facade panel elements to a substructure has a head having a very large diameter, a subsequent, essentially cylindrical shaft section (22) extending along a central longitudinal axis (A) and a subsequent tip region (23). The shaft section (22) includes, as viewed from the head, a threadless underhead section (24), a stop collar (25) and a threaded section (28). The thread in a first part (26) of the threaded section (28) subsequent to the stop collar (25) has an outer diameter Dr, which is attenuated compared to the thread in a second part (27) with outer diameter Dn, over several convolutions, so that Dr<Dn. This threaded section 26 allows a controlled overwinding of the facade panel screw in use. A corresponding fastening arrangement includes a facade panel, a substructure for transferring the load to a building surface and the facade panel screw.

  • Patent number: 11149775
Abstract: A fastener is installed by applying an axial pressing force onto a mating component such as a round pin or a square tab. The fastener includes spring arms formed by bent tabs which deflect when pressed onto and grip the pin or other mating component between jaws of the arms making the fastener resistant to being pulled off. Downward facing fingers located around the periphery of the fastener flex when they come into contact with another portion of the mating component. This creates a residual clamp load between the fastener and the component. The fastener can easily be removed using a tool similar to snap ring pliers or needle nose pliers. Two holes on opposite sides of the fastener allow the part to be squeezed and deformed into an oval shape. This action disengages the arms and allows the fastener to slide off the mating component without resistance.

  • Patent number: 11137012
Abstract: A wood screw that includes a head and a shank is revealed. The shank is formed by a main shank portion and a tapered portion whose diameter is smaller than that of the main shank portion, both provided with a locking thread. A plurality of drilling units, whose outside diameter of the drilling unit is smaller than that of the locking thread, is disposed on the tapered portion. The drilling units first destroy workpiece material corresponding to the main shank portion so that the workpiece material becomes loose and the resistance of the locking thread of the main shank portion is reduced. Thereby the wood screw is screwed into the workpiece more smoothly. Moreover, an internal thread segment whose thread depth matches that of the locking thread of the main shank portion is formed so that the wood screw and the workpiece are fastened more firmly.
