Abstract: A bicomponent monofilament tape wherein the tape is made from the fusion of the sheaths of at least about 60 bicomponent core-sheath fibers and the bonding of the fused sheaths to the core fibers is disclosed. A process for preparing a bicomponent monofilament tape by providing at least about 60 bicomponent core-sheath fibers; fusing the sheaths; and bonding the fused sheaths to the core fibers is also disclosed.

Abstract: The invention is the use of a chelating agent with an ultrasonic device for the treatment of hair and other fibers. The treatment device includes an ultrasound generator, a comb device responsive to the generated ultrasonic waves, a reflector for reflecting the incident ultrasonic waves disposed on the distal end of the comb device, and a chelating agent preferably disposed within the treatment device. The treatment device efficaciously dispenses the chelating agent and ultrasonically treats the fiber.

Abstract: A cosmetics container (10) is adapted for one hand operation. The body (12) of the container (10) defines a reservoir (14) with cosmetics therein and further defines a passage (24) from the reservoir (14) and container (10). A resilient wiper (16) is mounted adjacent to the passage (24). A cosmetics applicator (18) is slidably supported within the reservoir (14) for movement from a loading position to a use position extending through the passage (24). A drive assembly including a knob (26) on the exterior of the container (10) adapted for one hand manipulation slides a drive belt (22) having one end connected to the applicator (18) in the reservoir (14) and the other end connected to a cover (23). Operation of the knob (26) in a first direction simultaneously withdraws the cover (23) and propels the applicator (18) from the reservoir (14).

Abstract: A hairpiece for use in hair weaving includes an elongated, braided or plaided carrier strand and means at least at each end portion for attaching the strand to the wearer's head, supports a plurality of hair switches each formed from an elongated lock of hair folded and tied to form a loop at one end. A first support ring is linked through the closed loop and a second carrier ring is linked through the first and second to the carrier strand to provide a freely moving chain-link support for the switches.

Abstract: A curler for hairstyles and permanent waves includes an elongated body, with cross sections similar to an elliptical profile and changing continuously from a minimum to a maximum extension, in relation to a selected rate. The body has opposite heads and intermediate and central portions situated between said heads. An elastic strip is stretched longitudinally to the curler elongated body and touch the heads while leaving an open space in the remaining part of the curler elongated body for locks of hair to pass therethrough.

Abstract: A self-enclosed workstation box having side access ports with built-in sleeve guards, a removable viewing shield, a storage bin inside of the box with a holder on the bin cover for storing and supporting supplies thereon. The viewing shield can be hinged to the box for allowing access to the entire interior of the box. Arm rests can be located inside for supporting any one of the hands of the operators and users of the box. A bottom port can allow for noxious fumes and debris to be removed from the box by a fan, and a filter the latter of which can prevent the fumes from passing into the atmosphere outside of the box.

Abstract: A method for producing colored nails without using nail polish is provided. According to a preferred embodiment, a nail brush is dipped into a resin, liquid adhesive, or nail hardening agent, and then into a colored acrylic powder, and the nail is then brushed with the mixture to form a coat. The coat is both quick to apply and quick to dry, and results in strong, chip-resistant, shiny colored nails. The coat produced can remain unchipped and/or unpealed for several weeks or longer.

Abstract: Improved dental floss dispensers that impregnate floss with fluids and/or solids have been developed. One dental floss dispenser consists of a tube that holds a roll of dental floss separated from the main chamber by either a disc or a bag. The main chamber may consist of one or several compartments and it is filled with fluids and/or solids. The untreated floss is first threaded through a hole in the protective cover that separates the floss reel from the lower compartment and it passes through the lower compartment filled with a viscous fluid of sufficiently high viscosity. The partially impregnated floss is then threaded through a barrier that divides the lower and the upper compartments and passes through the upper compartment filled with an impregnating fluid or solid. The fluids and/or solids are now adhered to the floss so it can be used as a means to deliver compositions.

Abstract: Steam styling tongs including an evaporating device which is supplied with heat by a heating device and comprises an evaporator surface in thermal contact with the heating device. Liquid evaporates on the evaporator surface into steam, which then passes into a steam-distributor chamber and, there, flows outward via through-passages. The heating device is formed in a combustion chamber of the drum, in which, during the heating operation, flame-free combustion of a gas takes place by means of a catalyst, of which the combustion gases pass out via outlets formed in the drum or in the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber and the steam-distributor chamber are formed by a common chamber. Means which prevent water from penetrating into the common chamber are also provided.

Abstract: A lip contour kit comprising at least one stencil for assisting in the application of lip liner and lipstick to an individual's lips. Each stencil is used to assist in the application of lip liner to the upper lip and/or to the lower lip. Unlike the traditional make-up stencils designed for application of eyebrow pencil and lipstick, each member of the complimentary stencils are flexible, independent of the other and can be used alone or in conjunction with any other stencil. The stencils can also be provided with color codes, letters, numbers or marks, or other indicia to assist the make-up artist/individual in distinguishing one contour from another. The stencils of this invention can be self-adjusted relative to the upper and lower lip, respectively, to permit emphasis of one facial feature over another.

Abstract: An apparatus for applying a fluid to hair is provided. The apparatus includes a reservoir for containing a fluid, sidewalls for defining the reservoir. The sidewalls form an elongate curvilinear cavity along an interior surface and forming an exterior surface, wherein the cavity includes the reservoir and having a top portion and a bottom portion and the cavity having a longitudinal axis. The applicator also includes a top endwall located at the top portion of the sidewalls and the endwall includes an elongate cavity for dispensing a fluid. A flexible lip is located adjacent the cavity for assistance in dispensing a fluid from the elongate cavity is also included in the applicator. The applicator includes a movable bottom endwall for containing the fluid within the reservoir and advancing fluid and a rotatable smoothing rod attached to the exterior surface of the sidewalls.

The first compartment may be configured to accommodate a product to be applied and may comprise a first opening extending substantially in a plane. The second compartment may be configured to accommodate an application member via a second opening. The applicator unit may further include a second part comprising a handle. The application member may be located at an end of the handle. The applicator unit may also comprise a retainer configured to releasably retain the first and second parts in an assembled position. Abstract: A dispensing device for use as a hair dye applicator is provided having a manifold having a first end configured to receive liquid dye and an inside surface and an outside surface. The manifold has a conduit communicating with the inside surface and the first end which provides fluid communication between the first end and at least one orifice extending from the inside surface to the outside surface. The manifold further includes a first lip and a second lip on the outside surface with the first lip surrounding the orifice and the second lip surrounding the first lip.

Abstract: The decorative hair accessory kit with interchangeable decorations and storage board includes a hair band, hair comb, barrette and a plurality of interchangeable decorations, including a storage board for the components. Hook and loop fastening material adhesively attached to both the display surface of the hair controlling device and to the underneath surface of the decoration provide the attachment method by which decorations are interchangeably attached to the hair band, barrette, and hair comb. A decorative storage board provides a surface for storing the decorative hair accessories when not in use.

Abstract: A nail care apparatus comprises a motor housing having two ends: a handle end and a rotating housing end. A replaceable tip is inserted into the rotating housing so that it rotates along with the housing end. A disposable manicuring cylinder that is comprised of a soft polyurethane rubber in the shape of a hollow cylinder is then secured onto the replaceable tip, allowing it to rotate along with the replaceable tip. A power supply is connected to the housing at the handle end and provides power to an electric motor inside the motor housing such that the operation of the motor causes rotational movement of the rotating housing. The manicuring cylinders would be manufactured by slicing long tubes polyurethane rubber into desired lengths. The outer surface of the manicuring cylinder would be granular due to either a surface coating of sand powder mixed with adhesive or a sandpaper laminate, thus allowing uniform and even buffing and polishing without the risk of unnecessary keratin erosion.

Abstract: The present invention describes a releasably attachable ultra violet light blocking shield preferably in the shape of a cup or closed end tip that envelops the wearer's finger(s) from the base of the nail to the tip of the artificial or natural nail; which purpose is to protect the wearer's artificial and or natural nails from yellowing due to exposure to the Ultraviolet light from artificial or natural sunlight. It is and can be composed of rubber, plastic, latex, foam, metal, wood, paper or any other such materials that are impenetrable by UV light. It is made of pliable materials is easily assembled and is readily stored.
