    Abstract: A tool element subassembly, such as an abrasive disc subassembly, for mounting to the spindle of a grinder. The subassembly includes an abrasive disc, a collar nut and, optionally, a backing flange. The central bore in the abrasive disc as well as the hub portion of the collar nut which fits into the bore are both hexagonally shaped to provide a positive drive connection therebetween. The collar nut is either press fit onto the disc or, alternatively, placed directly into the mold for the disc so that the formed abrasive disc is molded directly to the hub portion of the collar nut. In certain embodiments the collar nut includes an integrally formed, enlarged head portion that is adapted to engage the bottom surface of the abrasive disc and is configured to receive a wrench for tightening the subassembly onto, or loosening the subassembly for removal from, the spindle.

    Abstract: Apparatus for severing and stripping a portion of a coating material from an elongated member such as an insulated electrical conductor, or the like, utilizing a pair of overlapping blades having cutting edges formed at the junction of two planar surfaces meeting at an acute angle. The blades are moved relative to one another, radially of the conductor, to cause the cutting edges to move radially partially through the layer of insulation. Relative movement of the blades and conductor axially of the conductor completes the severing of a slug of insulation, all in accordance with the prior art. The present apparatus is distinguished by making the planar surface portions immediately adjacent the cutting edges of the overlapping blades and engaged with the portion of the insulation to be stripped, i.e., the portions of the blades which apply the axial severing force, at equal angles, either 90.degree. or an acute angle, to the direction of relative movement.

The transmission element and the supporting members have different angular moments of inertia in different directions so that a displacement of the eccentric element in one direction, advantageously in the handle direction, is completely transmitted to the grinder plate, but a displacement in another direction transverse to the first direction is no more than incompletely, and preferably not at all, transmitted to the grinder plate, thus providing a linear grinding motion.

A roller unit includes a driven roller and a driving roller which is mounted detachably on the rotatable shaft of the body portion and which is rotatable with the rotatable shaft. An elongated belt frame has a front end and a rear end that is attached stationarily and detachably to the front part of the positioning member. A supporting unit, which is mounted movably to the elongated belt frame, is used to support the driven roller so as to position the driven roller in front of the elongated belt frame. An endless sand belt passes over the roller unit and the elongated belt frame.

A gripping mechanism (94) is slidably mounted to a pair of rails (100--100) carried by the frame for gripping a portion of the cable downstream of the blade carrier so as to pull the severed portion of the outer insulative jacket from the cable when the gripping mechanism is displaced by a lever (108).
