Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for print verification. One embodiment is a Print Verification System (PVS) that includes an imaging device which image pages of physical print media that were marked by a printer for a print job. The PVS also includes an interface that receives rasterized logical pages representing the pages of physical print media, and a controller that correlates images of the physical pages with the rasterized logical pages. The controller identifies discrepancies between images of physical pages and correlated rasterized logical pages. The controller also identifies a first mark on an image of a physical page that flags the page for special processing, identifies, in response to identifying the first mark, a second mark on the image that indicates a type of special processing for the page, and performs the indicated type of special processing upon the page at the PVS based on the second mark.

Abstract: A multi-function peripheral (MFP) receives authentication information and permits use of the MFP when authentication of a user based on the authentication information succeeds. The MFP inhibits timer transmission setting of image data when a password included in the authentication information is used continuously for transmitting the image data.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus include pass-through printing for print jobs sent to an imaging device from a computing device having an XPS printer driver. If an input and output type of the print job corresponds to XPS, the print job passes directly to the imaging device. If the input type is XPS but the output type is not XPS, an XPS-to-PS filter converts the print job to PS. For PS print jobs, a decider filter reads whether or not a PDF pass-through flag is set in a JCL header to determine whether or not a user of the print job seeks to prevent loss of color fidelity. Upon determining whether an originating document corresponding to the print job is a PDF document, the print job is bundled for imaging with its content and header and converted from PS to PDF or PDF to PS as necessary.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus, a method of controlling it and a storage medium are described. The apparatus detects an error, reproduces moving images corresponding to operations of an operation procedure for cancelling the error, and detects user operations. When the apparatus detects an operation during reproduction of a corresponding moving image, and the operation is not a last operation, the apparatus reproduces a next operation moving image. When the operation is not detected during reproduction of the corresponding moving image, the apparatus ends reproduction of the moving image. In a case that the operation is detected during reproduction of the corresponding moving image, and the operation is the last operation, the apparatus executes error recovery processing.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus is disclosed that can specify the cause and the part of an electrical failure with an inexpensive configuration and facilitate the maintenance by a user or an administrator. Power is supplied to function units in the image forming apparatus and a value is detected by a power detection unit. A state of the image forming apparatus is specified by a first control unit that can determine, based on the specified state and the detected value, whether or not there is an electrical failure. If there is a determined electrical failure, the power is supplied separately to the function units so that the first control unit can specify an electrically failed part based on a state of the image forming apparatus estimated at the separate supply and the detected value, and can notify a user or an administrator of the specified failed part.
