Abstract: A system, method and computer program product for validating the technical correctness of an On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) reporting project is provided such that the likelihood of errors is systematically reduced. The method and computer program product is a proactive, repeatable methodology to prove or disprove the “correctness” of any OLAP reporting project. The present invention helps assure the correctness of the OLAP reporting project by reducing the likelihood that major design and data components within the OLAP application environment are not synchronized. That is, the present invention identifies discrepancies among the OLAP tool, the OLAP project schema, the data warehouse metadata and the data warehouse data, thus identifying potential errors which could occur as a result of those discrepancies.

Abstract: A system and/or methodology to track and organize database application data in response to a delete, insert or update procedure. More specifically, a system and/or methodology that employs a version-based retention and linkage approach with respect to triggering implementations is provided.

Abstract: Apparatus and a method are provided for improving the medical care of patients. The apparatus includes an input device, a medical risk database, a data processor, and a communication device. Data entered in the input device, usually by a health care professional, defines a patient data record. The medical risk database associates certain patient data entered into the data record, which increases the risk of a missed medical care opportunity, with additional medical care to address the risk. The communication device responds to the identification of patient data presenting a medical risk by communicating to a health care professional additional medical care selected to identify and take advantage of a medical care opportunity.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for recognizing user input. User input is applied to at least one model to identify at least one decoded value found in a grammar. The decoded value and at least one database value stored in the grammar are then returned. The database value corresponds to a database value found in a database that is separate from the grammar. Under one embodiment, the database is associated with an application that accesses database values in the database. Under a further embodiment, two database values are returned with the decoded value where one of the database values corresponds to a database value in a first database and the other database value corresponds to a database value in a second database.

Abstract: A system and method for collecting data includes receiving first identification information of a first user, receiving second identification information of a second user that is referred to the data collector by the first user, analyzing the second identification information, determining whether to receive second user data based on the analysis of the second identification information and rewarding the first user if the second user data is received.

Abstract: Methods and systems for interactively creating and submitting insurance claims and determining whether the submitted claims are in condition for payment by an insurer. A medical technician operating a client computer establishes communication with a remote server. The remote server transmits a claim form to the client computer for display to the medical technician. Using the claim form, the technician enters patient identification information, which is transmitted to the server to determine whether the patient is a beneficiary of an approved insurance plan. If the patient is a beneficiary, the technician can prepare an insurance claim using the claim form displayed by the client computer. The technician enters a diagnosis code and a treatment code representing the diagnosis and treatment of the patient. The diagnosis and treatment codes are transmitted to the remote server, which processes the codes to determine whether the claim corresponds to health care services that are approved for payment.

Abstract: A document classification system and method reflects operator's intention in a result of classification of document so that an accurate result of classification can be achieved. The document to be classifies has contents contains a plurality of items. At least one of the items contained in the document is designated. The document data is converted into converted data so that the converted data contains only data corresponding to the designated item. Classification of the document is done by using the converted data.

Abstract: A system and method for updating a filtering system which controls access to a website/page between a local area network (LAN) and an Internet. The LAN includes an Internet gateway system coupled to a workstation and configured to receive a URL request. The system controls access to the website/page associated with the URL based on one or more categories that are associated with the URL. The Internet gateway system can determine the category that is associated with the URL by referencing a master database or requesting the category from a database factory. The database factory can receive URLs from multiple Internet gateway systems. The database factory determines whether the identifier was previously categorized by the database factory and provides the category to the Internet gateway system. Once the Internet gateway system has the category, it applies rules associated with the category and user to filter access to the requested website/page.

Abstract: A system and method for detecting file content similarity within a file system. The system may include a storage device configured to store a plurality of files and a file system configured to manage access to the storage device. The file system may be configured to compute a compressed size of at least a portion of a given file, and to store an indication of the compressed size in a named stream corresponding to the given file. In one specific implementation of the system, the file system may be further configured to determine a value of a file harmony metric from the compressed size of the concatenation of a first and second file and the compressed sizes of the first and second files, where the compressed sizes of the first and second files may be stored in a corresponding one of a plurality of respective named streams.

Abstract: A full-text search index system and method is generated by creating instances of a database index from an in-memory inverted list of keywords associated with a text identifier and the occurrences of the keyword in the text. Instances of the index are placed in a priority queue. A merge scheduling process determines when a merge should be initiated, selects instances of the index to be merged and selects a type of merge to perform. Instances of an index are assigned a temporal indicator (timestamp). A set of instances is selected to be merged. The set of instances is validated and merged.

Abstract: A reverse routing system optimizes execution of a query that accesses data stored in one or more materialized query tables in a database of a computer system. The system receives a query directly referencing the materialized query table. The system identifies the referenced materialized query tables in a catalogue of materialized query tables and a defining query associated with the referenced materialized query table. The system substitutes the defining query for the referenced materialized query table in the received query. The system adds the referenced materialized query table to the set of eligible materialized query tables that are selected using query matching algorithms so that they can be considered for routing by the query optimizer.

Abstract: A data processing application for selectively processing data sub-segments using a data mask. Data segments are retrieved from a data source and pre-processed to include selected data sub-segments based upon the data mask. The masked data segments are communicated to a processor for processing. The excluded data sub-segments, if any, may be recombined with the processed data in post-processing, also using the data mask. Systems, methods, and articles of manufacture embodying the invention are described.

Abstract: Systems and methods for automating and increasing the efficiency of business processes using inheritance of access/approval rules within an organization based upon the relationship of positions within the organization and the roles associated with the positions. In one embodiment, a role structure is used in conjunction with a hierarchical organization structure to allow access/approval rules to be inherited by some of the positions from other positions based upon the relationship of positions within the organization and the roles associated with the positions. Access/approval rules can be applied across equivalent or similar positions, yet differentiated between distinct portions of the organization and the distinct roles associated with the positions.

Abstract: A storage system, method and system for storing an original file and at least one format converted file of the original file. The storage system includes a storage medium and a file conversion unit which, in response to a request to store an original file, converts the original file to at least one format converted file. The file conversion unit alternatively could be external of the storage system forming a storage system. The storage system stores the original file and the at least one format converted file on said storage medium and manages a relationship between the original file and the format converted file to permit retrieval of either of the original file and the format converted file.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for optimizing a query in a computer system, wherein the query is performed by the computer system to retrieve data from a database stored on the computer system. The optimization is performed by identifying a correlated subquery in the query that qualifies for transformation, transitively closing a local filtering predicate within the identified correlated subquery that is on a same column as a correlation join predicate within the identified correlated subquery, and pulling out or bubbling up the transitively closed predicate from the correlated subquery to a parent query block of the query.

Abstract: A data extracting unit extracts from a text fact data stipulated by a combination of a target object, an attribute name, and an attribute value. A data aggregating unit groups data similar to the extracted fact data throughout the text, and aggregates the number of occurrences. An inconsistency detecting unit detects an inconsistent data group which cannot be consistent by scanning a data set aggregated by the data aggregating unit. A correctness/incorrectness determining unit determines which data is correct within the inconsistent data group. A final data integrating unit integrates and outputs correct data. Additionally, the degree of reliability is assigned to fact data when the fact data is extracted from a text, and also a correctness/incorrectness determination of each data within a data group can be made by using the degree of reliability assigned to the fact data.

Abstract: Application of a scalar function across a varying number of records within an RDBMS using the RDBMS's SQL capabilities. This is accomplished by determining a last row in a group of rows, sorting the rows and passing the sorted rows to a scalar function, where the scalar function accepts each row and stores the accepted rows in a temporary file space. When the last row is encountered, the aggregate value is calculated using all of the rows in the group, and then a filter is applied on the rows so that only a row with the aggregate value is returned.

Abstract: In a disk system having a plurality of disks, an update program for updating the firmware is incorporated into a computer of the disk system, the update program is started automatically by turning on the power source of the disk system or manipulating an operation panel, the firmware of the latest version of disk devices is stored in a RAM, and the firmware stored in the RAM transmitted to disk devices having a former version, and the firmware is updated.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system for supporting a tariff code selection. The system comprises a database for storing commodity codes for the commodities in association with tariff codes used in an importing country, said database being searched using the commodity code as a key. Tariff code selection tables are included in the database for storing tariff items hierarchically classified in accordance with the attributes thereof. The system is programmed to search a record of a commodity code similar to the commodity code of the search key when said search key resulted in no hits The tariff code selection table including the record of the similar commodity code is displayed on a display device.

Abstract: Provided is a method, system, and program implemented by a server for controlling and providing access to a file to at least one remote computer over a network. The server maintains metadata about files. The files are maintained at remote storage locations. The server receives a request from the remote computer for a filename of a requested file over the network. The server determines from the metadata one remote storage location address associated with the filename where the requested file is located. The server then updates the metadata for the requested file and sends the storage location address to the remote computer.
