  • Patent number: 5733035
Abstract: The present invention provides a device that is a combined night-light and table. The night-light table includes legs, a base, a top, and at least one light source located within the top. The top also includes a portion that is fabricated from a transluscent material for enabling the light from the light source to glow from the transluscent material. The top is secured to the base by way of a hinge so the top may be closed or opened. The night-light table lessens the danger of traveling near the table whenever dark and reduces the insecurity someone near the table might feel if otherwise placed in total darkness. The table provides support like conventional tables and may include lockable storage compartments. The night-light table may combine with a chair or stool for the comfort and convenience of users.

  • Patent number: 5716127
Abstract: A signal light housing is comprised of three basic component parts; a back plate, a mounting plate and a lens cover. The back plate is provided with a substantially flat exterior surface to enable the signal light housing to be mounted flush against the exterior surface of a vehicle. The lens cover encloses an interior volume of the housing and can be removed from the housing without removing the housing from the vehicle surface. The mounting plate is removably attached to the back plate and provides a sufficient area to support a variety of different types of signal light assemblies thereon within the interior volume of the housing. The mounting plate is easily removed from the back plate to remove a defective signal light assembly from the housing, and enable its replacement with an operative signal light assembly attached on a like mounting plate.

  • Patent number: 5709447
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to obtain high luminance with low power consumption. Convexes are formed on one side face of a light-guiding plate on a light source side of the light-guiding plate. The convexes are formed at minute pitches in parallel with the longitudinal direction of the one side face. An isosceles right triangle is selected as the sectional shape of the convexes. Light having entered from the one side face is diffused and reflected by a diffuse reflection layer, and light reflected by a reflection plate is emitting from a light-outgoing surface. The light having entered from the one side face is also directly emitted from the light-outgoing surface. The emitted light is diffused by a diffusion plate to irradiate, for example, the side opposite to the display side of a liquid crystal display panel in which the lighting device of the invention is to be incorporated.

  • Patent number: 5707129
Abstract: A headlamp for vehicular use including a rotatable shade composed of a right shade and a left shade and which constitutes a clear-cut line vertically moving adjusting device for vertically moving and adjusting a clear-cut line of a low beam produced by the headlamp, a curved road detecting device for detecting a condition of a curved road in front of the vehicle, and a main optical axis lateral direction tilting adjusting device. The rotatable shade is rotated by a predetermined amount in accordance with the information of a curved road detected by the steering sensor so that the clear-cut line is vertically moved and adjusted. Further, the reflector (and the bulb mounted thereon) is laterally slid by a predetermined amount so that the light distribution pattern and the "hot zone" are laterally moved and adjusted. Accordingly, the visibility, especially the visibility on the steering side, is improved when the vehicle travels on a curved road at either low or high speed.

  • Patent number: 5690422
Abstract: A fan-line optical principle for use in the design of faceted specular reflectors for sharp-cutoff luminaires is disclosed, and a luminaire embodying this optical principle is described. The luminaire described comprises a high intensity arc discharge lamp, providing a primary light source with finite length and thickness, and a reflector including a plurality of specular reflecting facets with fan-line geometry. Each of these fan-line facets displays (in a given main beam direction) a primary light source image that is parallel and adjacent to the cutoff edge of that facet. The name of this invention relates to the fact that a perspective view toward the front of a sharp-cutoff luminaire embodying the invention shows that fan-line facets, and the images they produce, create a fan-like pattern. An important characteristic of the invention is that the images of the primary light source displayed by fan-line facets, at a given main beam angle, can show substantially all of the primary light source.
