Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition of a stable aqueous dispersion of polymer particles comprising structural units of a) vinyl acetate; b) a vinyl ester of a branched carboxylic acid monomer; and c) a phosphorus acid monomer. The composition of the present invention provides vinyl ester/phosphorus acid based polymer particles that improve hiding efficiency in pigmented coatings formulations.

Abstract: Disclosed are an environmentally-friendly anti-cracking, anti-corrosive and waterproof material and a preparation method therefor, which may solve the following problems of the existing waterproof and anti-corrosive materials: a single function, a poor property, a high cost and a short service life. The waterproof material in the present invention consists of the following components in weight parts: 5-15 parts of synthetic polyester resin, 3-6 parts of penetrant, 1-3 parts of cellulose fiber, 0.1-0.3 parts of cellulose ether, 75-85 parts of solvent. A preparation method of the above waterproof material is also provided.

Abstract: Methods are provided for the production of poly(cyanoacrylate) micro- or nanofibers which include mixing the cyanoacrylate monomer with a dipolar aprotic solvent to form a poly(cyanoacrylate) gel, dissolving the gel in a solvent for acrylates to form a solution suitable for electrospinning, and submitting the solution thus obtained to electrospinning to form said micro- or nanofibers. The micro- or nanofibers thus obtained can be used to form coatings that adhere to a substrate as a result of thermal treatment.

Abstract: In the present disclosure an easily processable ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene and a process for preparation thereof is disclosed wherein the easy processable ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene is prepared by melt mixing a first ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene having poor process-ability and a second ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene along with a minimal amount of solvent. The easily processable ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene is melt processable below its melting point and requires lesser compression molding time as compared to the first ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a coated substrate comprising: A) a heat sensitive substrate having a heat distortion temperature less than 120 degrees C., and B) a coating layer deposited on at least one surface of the substrate, wherein the coating layer is deposited from a waterborne coating composition comprising: (a) a continuous phase comprising water, and (b) a dispersed phase comprising: (i) optional pigments; (ii) polymeric particles containing carboxylic acid functionality prepared from the polymerization of a mixture of ethylenically unsaturated compounds including ethylenically unsaturated monomers; and (iii) a polycarbodiimide or a polyhydrazide. Abstract: A coating composition having a measured solids content of at least 95% according to test method ASTM D2369 is disclosed. The composition includes a mixture of (a) a polymer prepared from one or more functional monomers comprising a (meth)acrylic monomer, an allyl monomer, or combinations thereof each having an ethylenically unsaturated double bond and an additional reactive functional group, and (b) a reactive diluent. At least some of the additional reactive functional group of the functional monomer remains unreacted during formation of the polymer. The reactive diluent has a boiling point of greater than 100° C. and a reactive functional group that reacts with the reactive functional group on the polymer at a temperature that is lower than the boiling point of the reactive diluent. Also disclosed are substrates having a cured coating thereon, the coating formed from the cured coating composition, and methods for providing sound and vibration damping.

Abstract: The invention relates to a pneumatic rubber truck tire having a circumferential stratified dual cap rubber tread comprised of an outer tread cap and underlying tread sub cap. The underlying tread sub cap rubber layer is provided to support the outer tread cap rubber layer with similar physical properties. Both of the tread cap rubber compositions are comprised of a combination of natural cis 1,4-polyisoprene and dual cis 1,4-polybutadiene elastomers and contain reinforcing fillers comprised of precipitated silica and rubber reinforcing carbon black. The tread cap rubber compositions differ from each other by containing different levels of the individual cis 1,4-polybutadiene rubbers and by containing different rubber reinforcing carbon blacks and precipitated silica.
