  • Patent number: 5695198
Abstract: In a seal for a rolling bearing, the seal has a molding member formed from a rubber material, the molding member including a lip portion, the molding member having 0.3 to 5.0 MPa of tensile stress at 10% strain and no less than 50% of elongation at break after the rubber material is subjected to an accelerated air aging at 130.degree. C. for 1000 hours. The rubber material includes the nitrile rubber compound containing a raw-material rubber, with respect to 100 weight parts of the raw-material rubber, 0.3 to 5.0 weight parts of an age resistor, and 0.3 to 5.0 weight parts of at least one secondary age resistor. The seal prevents grease enclosed in the rolling bearing from leaking out, the lip portion from being broken, and dust resistance from being lowered even in the case where the rolling bearing is used in a high-temperature environment.

  • Patent number: 5692756
Abstract: A refrigeration compressor including a compressor housing, a compressor shaft rotatably positioned within the housing, a refrigerant positioned within the housing, a face seal operatively positioned between the housing and the shaft, and a lip seal operatively positioned between the housing and the shaft. The lip seal and the primary seal collectively form a seal cavity for retaining fluid adjacent to the primary seal. An inlet port is positioned adjacent to the seal cavity, and a bearing rotatably supports the shaft within the housing. The lip seal is operatively positioned between the inlet port and the bearing. A bypass channel allows fluid (e.g., oil and refrigerant) to bypass a top portion of the lip seal, thereby permitting lubrication of the bearing. The face seal includes a seal nose and a bellows operatively associated with the seal nose. The seal nose preferably includes a maximum of about 0.5 weight percent lead. For example, the seal nose can include a tin bronze alloy, such as alloy C90300.

  • Patent number: 5692758
Abstract: A static rubber sealing ring for sealing against fluids that have high temperatures and/or that are under high pressures, particularly for sealing between a cylinder lining and a cylinder block of internal combustion engines. With the intention of providing such a sealing ring that can advantageously replace the O-ring, particularly in such vibrating apparatus as piston engines, particularly diesel engines, there is proposed a sealing ring which includes a radially inner sealing surface (12) which is generally circular-cylindrical in shape at least when the sealing ring is fitted, and a pair of generally mutually parallel and axially opposing flat side surfaces (16), each of which extends generally at right angles to the radially inner sealing surface so as to define an edge (14) together therewith, and each of which connects with a gently rounded, radially outer sealing surface (22) of the ring via a transition surface (18, 20).
