  • Patent number: 10058708
Abstract: Systems, devices, or methods can be used to detect an event, or series of events, that can indicate worsening of congestive heart failure (CHF), or can be used to identify a subject at an elevated risk for developing CHF. A CHF event predictor can be provided using a characteristic minimum of subject cardiac intervals. In an example, the subject cardiac intervals can be obtained during a night-time period or during periods of reduced subject physical activity. A CHF event predictor can be determined using information about physiologic signals received from a subject, such as from a physiologic sensor associated with an ambulatory or implantable medical device.

  • Patent number: 10052490
Abstract: The present disclosure involves systems and methods of programming electrical stimulation therapy for a patient. A communications link is established with a pulse generator that is configured to generate electrical stimulation pulses. An intermittent electrical coupling between the pulse generator and a diagnostic tool is simulated. This simulation is performed by instructing, for a plurality of cycles, the pulse generator to automatically turn on and off the generation of electrical stimulation pulses. Each cycle includes a first time period and a second time period following the first time period. The simulating includes: instructing the pulse generator to generate the electrical stimulation pulses during the first time period; and instructing the pulse generator to stop generating the electrical stimulation pulses during the second time period.

  • Patent number: 10039564
Abstract: Surgical devices are provided having power-assisted or fully powered jaw closure. The devices herein generally include a handle portion, an elongate shaft, and an effector having first and second jaws configured to engage tissue. A motor and one or more compression springs can be operatively coupled, and activation of the motor can compress the spring(s) to reduce the amount of user supplied force to compress tissue between the jaws. In some embodiments, the devices can be configured to regulate an amount of compression applied by the jaws prior to, during, and/or after cutting of the tissue to promote hemostasis. For example, the devices can include sensors, processors, and/or other components that analyze data indicative of tissue type and tissue load. Based on this feedback, the device can automatically adjust the amount of compression or energy applied to the tissue to seal the tissue.

  • Patent number: 10038408
Abstract: A chopper stabilized amplifier that utilizes a multi-frequency chopping signal to reduce chopping artifacts. By utilizing a multi-frequency chopping signal, the amplifier DC offset and flicker noise are translated to the higher chopping frequencies but are also smeared, or spread out in frequency and consequently lowered in amplitude. This lower amplitude signal allows for less stringent filtering requirements.

  • Patent number: 10029109
Abstract: Several defibrillators, defibrillator architectures, defibrillator components and methods of operating defibrillators are described. In one aspect, a defibrillator (as for example an automated external defibrillator) that can be powered by a mobile communication device such as a smart cellular phone or a tablet computer is described. Utilizing a phone (or other mobile communication device) as the power supply for an external defibrillator allows the external defibrillator to be smaller and, in some circumstance, removes the need for a battery that stores sufficient energy for shock delivery—which would need to be checked and/or replaced on a regular basis. Additionally, when desired, certain control functionality, computation, data processing, and user instructions can be handled/presented by the mobile communications device thereby further simplifying the defibrillator design and improving the user experience.

  • Patent number: 9993653
Abstract: In a subcutaneous implantable cardioverter/defibrillator, cardiac arrhythmias are detected to determine necessary therapeutic action. Cardiac signal information is sensed from far field electrodes implanted in a patient. The sensed cardiac signal information is then amplified and filtered. Parameters such as rate, QRS pulse width, cardiac QRS slew rate, amplitude and stability measures of these parameters from the filtered cardiac signal information are measured, processed and integrated to determine if the cardioverter/defibrillator needs to initiate therapeutic action.

  • Patent number: 9949655
Abstract: A method of measuring and analyzing the ultra high frequency EKG is performed by measuring the EKG within the frequency range above 250 Hz with a dynamic range of at least 100 dB. In the UHF EKG signal positions of Rm of R wave in QRS complex of EKG are detected on the time axis and the EKG signal is converted to amplitude or power envelopes, the amplitude or power envelopes frequency range is anywhere within the limits from 0.2 Hz to at least 500 Hz. From these envelopes the amplitude and time numerical parameters that describe the myocardium depolarization inhomogeneity and electric myocardium dyssynchrony are determined, and these parameters are used for selecting the patients for multi-chamber stimulators implementation and optimization of their setting.
