  • Patent number: 6659382
Abstract: An apparatus for displaying mobile phones and other hand-held devices comprising a clamping system, a retracting system, and a positioning system. The clamping system holds a hand-held device between two parts, which are fastened together by a fitting and a security screw having a head with a slot requiring a special key. The retracting system includes a retractable tethering cable wound on a spool. The positioning system includes a male component, which anchors the tethering cable to the fitting, and a female component, which is mounted on the retracting system. The tethering cable passes through the female component of the positioning system so that when the hand-held device is retracted, the male component of the positioning system is received by the female component thus assuring proper orientation of the hand-held device on display.

  • Patent number: 6641080
Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed for winding a web about a central axis and a rotating mandrel to form a roll. A feeding mechanism provides a running web to be wound into a roll. A retainer assembly may be configured for holding the web as it is wound upon the rotating mandrel. The retainer assembly may be configured to accommodate oscillating movement of the rotating mandrel between a clockwise and a counterclockwise direction. The web may be wound in one direction and then back again repeatedly to form a roll. Retaining means, such as paddles, may be actuated from an active position in contact with the web to a resting position removed from the roll. Paddles may serve to hold the web upon the outer surface of the roll at the time in which the rotating mandrel is changing rotational direction.

  • Patent number: 5115732
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for processing batter materials, such as food batter, including sausage batter for wieners and the like, without incorporating the use of any casing for the batter. The apparatus forms a blank having a proteinaceous skin made by congealing surface batter materials. Each thus formed blank is ejected onto a conveyor that includes a device for completing the formation of congealed skin on the blank. The thus shaped items can then be packaged and cooked within the package in order to provide an aseptic product. If desired, the items can be cooked and then packaged in order to provide a product having an acceptable shelf-life.

  • Patent number: 5108189
Abstract: A vibrator is provided which includes a relatively rigid shell with a vibrating mechanism being provided within the shell to cause the same to vibrate. A flexible shaft is coupled to the vibrating mechanism to drive the same. Moreover, a cover is provided on the shell formed of a material softer than the shell whereby to lessen the effects of the impact of the shell on any encountered object such as a reinforcing rod. The cover is made, for example, of a plurality of rings arranged in axial series. The rings include projections and are provided with notches or receptacles for receiving the projections. The projections on respective of the rings are engaged in the receptacle of the next adjacent rings in the axial series. The vibrator may be inserted, for example, in a setting concrete to remove air and voids therefrom. The covering on the shell is intended to avoid chipping of, for example, epoxy coatings which are employed on reinforcing rods to avoid the corrosion of the same.

  • Patent number: 5103718
Abstract: An apparatus and method for processing a food product. A series of processing cabinets are each provided with an inlet and an outlet in one of the cabinet side walls adjacent an end wall. The product is carried by a series of individual product carriers, which are capable of turning relative to the rail. The carriers pass through the cabinet inlets, and are turned relative to the rail thereafter so as to pass through the cabinets in a closely packed arrangement. As the carriers approach the opposite end wall of the cabinet, the carriers are again turned so as to exit the cabinet in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the cabinet.

  • Patent number: 5097755
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for processing produce and particularly fresh vegetables for salads. The vegetables are stored in an area near the beginning of the process line, and the storage area is partitioned by vinyl strips to create a temperature gradient for different vegetables. The vegetables are first cleaned on mesh conveyors under high pressure nozzles that spray chlorinated water at the desired storage temperature of the vegetables. A trimming table includes a lower conveyor for moving the vegetables for hand processing. An upper, cleated conveyor carries the vegetables to a slicer. Another cleated conveyor lifts the sliced vegetables vertically into a hopper where they are mixed with cooling water that then flows through a significant horizontal length of pipe. The vegetables move to shaker tables that provide the bulk of the dewatering and then vibrate the vegetables into a single layer for air drying.

  • Patent number: 5090814
Abstract: A mixing, dispensing and purging apparatus for mutually reactive chemicals. The dispensing apparatus includes a cartridge comprising a mixing assembly and purging rod. The mixing assembly having a block of inexpensive monolithic design with an axial bore formed in it through which the purging rod reciprocates. The mixing assembly also includes a scraper assembly positioned within the block of material. The scraper assembly includes two cup-shaped members positioned essentially in mirror image with each cup-shaped member including an aperture in its base through which the purging rod extends. An insert is positioned within both of the cup-shaped members and extends between the base of each cup-shaped members. The cup-shaped members and insert are designed to remove material built up on the reciprocating purging rod while keeping the rod aligned and preventing fluid flow through the scraper assembly. The scraper assembly thus alleviates the need for any solvent material.
