Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to providing a mechanism for communication between point of sale devices. Using network technology and novel processes, the present systems and methods can share transaction records among multiple devices without the presence of a physical server. For example, in certain embodiments, the present systems and methods leverage virtual server technology to implement local area networks of point of sale devices with zero configuration.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for setting and tracking financial goals includes associating a user with a financial goal. The method also includes associating the user with a virtual community. The virtual community includes a number of users having similar financial profiles and similar financial goals. The method also includes tracking progress of the number of users of the virtual community towards their respective financial goals and providing to the user via a user interface a comparison of the user's progress towards the user's financial goal relative to the progress of the number of users of the virtual community towards their respective financial goals.

Abstract: Processing payroll payments for employees is performed by a payment processing system and employee devices, so that the employee can with access security set short pay periods and have wage payments made according to their profile. The payment processing system has an interfacing server, a storage server, and a processing server, using internal signalling and file transfer. They receive from an employer computer net pay data for employees for a long period, and communicating with the employee devices to determine a desired payment split over the long period, and automatically notify an employee device of opening of a window for user editing of a payment split profile, and subsequently are instructed by the employee device as to edit the profile.

Abstract: Methods and systems for a location based system and method for calculating sales and use tax for non-traditional points of sale. The methods and systems include a mobile application, a non-transitory computer readable medium for calculating sales and use tax for businesses that do not have a human readable address. Methods and systems for calculating a transactional tax for a mobile app whereby the mobile app is taxed based upon the location of the mobile device or place of first use of the mobile app, rather than where the mobile device was purchased or where it originates.

Abstract: A method for determining the state of access control devices and sales or payment machines of an access control system by detecting sound profiles emitted during operation by a component or component group by at least one microphone. Based upon the recorded sound profile, an acoustic identification signature is created in a server or a central computer, which identification signature is based on the frequency spectrum of the recorded sound profile and/or the temporal change thereof. The acoustic identification signature is compared with a reference identification signature(s) stored in the server and assigned to a component or a component group. In the event of the detecting an acoustic identification signature which exceeds a predetermined first threshold value, increased wear of the component or the component group is detected, while if the deviation exceeds a second threshold value, a defect of the component or the component group is defected.

Abstract: Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for enforcing licensing policies using an application wrapper are presented. In one or more embodiments, a computing device may monitor, using a first application wrapper of a first application on the computing device, usage of the first application. The first application wrapper of the first application may provide a policy enforcement layer between the first application and an operating system of the computing device, and the policy enforcement layer may control execution of the first application based on one or more mobile device management policies. Subsequently, the computing device may enforce, using the first application wrapper of the first application, one or more licensing policies on the first application at runtime based on the usage of the first application.

Abstract: In some examples, a merchant device at a point of sale (POS) location may present information to a merchant in a first language preferred by the merchant, and may present information to a buyer in a second language preferred by the buyer. The merchant device may switch between the different languages in response to detecting a change in the physical orientation of a display. For instance, in a first orientation in which the display is viewable from a merchant direction, the merchant device may present information in the language preferred by the merchant. When the orientation of the display is changed to a second orientation in which the display is viewable from a buyer direction, the merchant device may present information in the language indicated to be preferred by the buyer. Various techniques may be used for determining the preferred language of a particular buyer.

Abstract: A system comprising marketplaces, developer sites and a marketplace platform is described. The marketplaces allow companies to purchase many applications from many sources, including the developer application. The developer site provides the developer application and allows companies to purchase the developer application. The marketplace platform provides a single application programmer interface (API) for companies to license the developer application through both the marketplaces and the developer site. The platform also provides for managing user entitlements the developer application for both the plurality of marketplaces and the developer site.

Abstract: A system and computer-implemented method for modeling estate disposition are disclosed. One embodiment receives balance sheet inputs, estate planning document inputs and timing/event inputs. Conveyance and tax logic are applied to the inputs. Flowcharts illustrating the disposition of the estate based on the inputs are generated. Tax and liquidity analysis based on the inputs are also generated.

Abstract: An apparatus for managing data used for object recognition includes an image capturing unit configured to capture an image of an object, a storage unit storing image data of products registered for sale, an operation panel configured to receive a user selection, and a processor configured to determine the products registered for sale that are similar to the object, based on the captured image and the image data, display the similar products on the operation panel as user selectable items, determine one or more of the similar products designated by the user selection, and invalidate the designated similar products so that efficiency of object recognition by the apparatus can be improved.

Abstract: A product catalog service allows business entities to create and store product catalogs indicating products that are available from the business entities. A product catalog includes multiple product family definitions. Each product family definition specifies attribute names of a product family and, for each attribute name, a set of allowed attribute values. In order to specify a particular product variant, an entity may supply one of the allowed attribute values for each specified attribute name of the product. The product catalogs may be received from multiple business entities. Each product catalog may also be shared with multiple business entities. A merchant, for example, may select products from a product catalog to purchase from another merchant. When creating a product catalog, a business entity may reference product family definitions of other product catalogs.

Abstract: Systems and methods for interaction-based validation of electronic tickets. In some embodiments, the system renders a first visually illustrative scene on an interactive display screen of a mobile device, the first visually illustrative scene responsive to a pre-determined gesture performed at a predetermined location on the interactive display screen. Upon a user interacting with the first visually illustrative scene, an app on the user's mobile device extracts user interaction information. In response to determining that the user interaction information matches with a predetermined gesture performed at the predetermined location, the system renders a second visually illustrative scene on the interactive display screen of the mobile device.

Abstract: Systems, apparatus, and methods are provided for efficiently authorizing a transaction initiated by a consumer. An authorization can be generated before the consumer actually initiates the transaction. For example, a future transaction can be predicted, and an authorization can be generated for the predicted transaction. In this manner, the authorization can be ready and quickly used when the consumer does initiate the transaction. Previous transactions made by the consumer can be used to predict when the future transaction is likely. In various examples, the authorization can be sent to a specific merchant or to the consumer for use when the consumer initiates the predicted transaction, or saved by an authorization server for use in response to an authorization request from the merchant.

Abstract: In some cases, a handheld device that includes a microphone and a scanner may be used for voice-assisted scanning. For example, a user may provide a voice input via the microphone and may activate the scanner to scan an item identifier (e.g., a barcode). The handheld device may communicate voice data and item identifier information to a remote system for voice-assisted scanning. The remote system may perform automatic speech recognition (ASR) operations on the voice data and may perform item identification operations based on the scanned identifier. Natural language understanding (NLU) processing may be improved by combining ASR information with item information obtained based on the scanned identifier. An action may be executed based on the likely user intent.

The method receives from the heterogeneous data sources, a request for a first control message type, which defines data to be extracted from the heterogeneous data sources. Responsive to receiving the request, the method sends a first control messages type to the heterogeneous data sources. The method receives from the heterogeneous data sources, a second control message type that includes data extracted from the heterogeneous data sources that was defined in the first control message type. The method also stores, in a data store, the received data identified in the first control message type and that was extracted from the heterogeneous data sources.
