  • Patent number: 9439399
Abstract: An animal support harness and method of supporting and restraining movement of an animal is provided. The apparatus includes a sling that can be routed around the abdomen of the animal, and a plurality of primary support straps extend and are joined at a handle. A leash strap is integrated with the handle, and extends to connect to the collar of the animal. The integral leash strap along with the primary support straps enables an owner to control not only an upward supporting force for the animal, but also provides an inherent restraint to prevent an animal from walking too quickly or lunging, which might otherwise harm the animal.

  • Patent number: 9400509
Abstract: A hydronic system for heating and/or cooling fluid feed additives passing through a delivery line is disclosed. The system includes a hydronic heating system which will heat fluid passing through a closed loop radiant line which is closely positioned adjacent a portion of the delivery line extending between the fluid delivery system and the target destination. The system also includes a cooling system which will cool the fluid circulating through the radiant line to cool the delivery line and the fluid feed additive therein. The system of this invention prevents the fluid feed additive from freezing during the cold months and cools the same during warm months.

  • Patent number: 9320257
Abstract: The invention includes an assembly to provide an animal access to a space. The assembly includes an entrance gate which, in a first position provides access to the space and, in a second position, blocks the access to the space. The assembly further includes a measuring device configured to measure a walking speed of the animal, and to transmit a signal indicative of the measured walking speed. The assembly also includes a control device configured to receive the signal from the measuring device, and to control the entrance gate depending on the received signal. By using the measured walking speed of the animal, the control device can, for example, close the entrance gate sooner or close it more quickly if there is a threat of an animal being crushed.

  • Patent number: 9320206
Abstract: A potted plant holder features a number of post pieces that assemble to form a post structure that supports a number of hubs thereon, which in turn each support a number of branch-like supports. A reduced diameter end of each post piece nests within the other end of another post piece for easy assembly. Each branch has a simple wire structure with a bent end configured to form two parallel legs jutting perpendicular to the branch length for receipt of the legs in an outer opening of the hub around the post. A pot-size adapter features a ring of smaller diameter than an integral pot-supporting ring of the branch and hangers that suspend the smaller ring therefrom. A watering system features ring-shaped conduits that fit over the different levels of branches and branch conduits running outward along the branches of each level from the respective ring-shaped conduit.

  • Patent number: 9313957
Abstract: The arrangement device includes a plurality of apertures in ring configuration. The apertures within each ring are tilted along a tangential angle with respect to the vertical. The apertures are uniquely defined and designed to receive specified stems of elongated items to be arranged. The apertures align the elongated items according to their tilt angles and are shaped to allow them to fall in a resting position approximating how the final arrangement will appear. The apertures have an inner wall angled allowing the elongated items to meet at a gathering point. They are gathered at a tie point and tied into a bouquet while each stem retains its tangential tilt. The arrangement device has legs allowing stems to be kept moist while using the arrangement device prior to being placed in their holding vessel. In an alternative embodiment, overlays may be added to identify items used in each aperture.

  • Patent number: 9307702
Abstract: A container for a plant includes a wire mesh that is formed in the shape of a plant pot, and a layer of biodegradable material that is attached to the wire mesh in the shape of the pot. The container provides protection to plant roots from gophers and protection from root damage during transplanting, and can reduce air gaps between a pot and a hole in the ground, saving plants from drying out. The wire mesh provides a supportive frame so that the biodegradable material layer can be thinner, with the biodegradable material quickly softening and/or decomposing to let the plant roots grow through the pot into the soil. The wire mesh can extend beyond the biodegradable material layer at a top of the pot to provide protection against surface foraging rodents.

  • Patent number: 9107383
Abstract: A tidy pet litter box having a plurality of internal screens across which the pet must traverse when entering or leaving a main basin of the litter box. An upper lid fits over a lower tray, the upper lid having a large front opening. The lower tray defines a large main basin in which litter is placed, and a secondary basin at a rear end thereof. An entrance screen mounted laterally across side walls of the upper lid extends from a lower end of the front opening substantially over the entire main basin and permits passage of a pet to a rear screen located above the secondary basin. To exit, the pet must jump up to the rear screen, then over the entrance screen which dislodges any litter sticking to its paws so that it falls back into the main basin. A method of training a cat to use the litter box by first removing the entrance screen is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9066493
Abstract: An animal containment fence includes posts that may be anchored to a surface, connection members that may be transversely coupled to the posts, and flexible cross-members disposed between the posts by telescopically and reciprocally engaging the connection members transversely coupled to the posts. The engagement between the connection members and the cross-member moves reciprocally upon a flexion of the cross-member due to application of a force less than a release force to the cross-member. The engagement between the connection members and the cross-member releases upon a flexion a flexible cross-member due to application of a force equal to or greater than a release force. A method of assembling the animal containment fence includes anchoring posts to a surface, transversely coupling connection members to the posts, and telescopically and reciprocally engaging cross members with the connection members.

  • Patent number: 9049842
Abstract: An automatic replenishing mechanism for a pet drinking fountain is a container having a water injection element, a float, a linkage set, and a sealing plug. The water injection element, connected to the container, has a water inlet and a base. The float, connected by a link bar to the base, is located underneath the water inlet and limited by a guiding portion to float longitudinally. The sealing plug is mounted on the link bar near the water inlet. When water level rises to elevate the float, the link bar rotates to push the sealing plug. When the float floats to a predetermined level, the sealing plug blocks the water inlet to stop water supply. When a pet drinks water and the water level drops, the float sinks from the predetermined level. The link bar rotates to retreat the sealing plug from the water inlet, thereby automatically replenishing water.

  • Patent number: 9016237
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method of managing a group of dairy animals. More particularly, the invention relates to measuring one or more milk parameters, comparing this parameter to a criterion, and allowing an animal access to a pasture based on this comparison. The milk parameter is related to the composition of milk obtained from a dairy animal in as far as the composition is defined by at least one of the amount of protein and the energy intake of the dairy animal. The measured milk parameter is, for example, urea. Access to the pasture will be completely or partly blocked for a dairy animal having a high content of urea. This dairy animal is thus prevented from taking in an undesirably large amount of protein.

  • Patent number: 8919293
Abstract: A retractable leash and collar/harness assembly. The assembly includes a hub that contains a spring member and leash line coiled and enclosed within the hub. The spring member and leash line remain in constant communication with each other. The hub contains an aperture through which the leash line can flow. Extending outwardly from the hub are snap buckles, one of which is structured to have a channel formed therein. The leash line can flow through the channel to a handle, which is contained within a pouch formed on the attached collar. When the leash is pulled, the handle separates from the pouch, followed by the leash line. Thus, when in use, the leash line follows a path of travel from the hub, through the snap buckle, through the pouch and into the external environment. In an alternative embodiment, the current invention may be a leash and harness assembly.
