Abstract: A system and method for providing previews of search results and, more particularly, to a system and method for providing preview results for search systems integrating multiple collections. The method includes providing search results associated with a first collection based on at least one search term and providing a customizable preview of search results for the at least one search term. The customizable preview of search results is associated with at least a second collection different from the first collection.

Abstract: A method for performing multiple merge operations with a source data structure and a plurality of destination data structures, in which the source data structure is scanned one time in order to obtain source data that is then used for multiple merge operations. The source data is then used consecutively in order to merge the source data into the one or more destination data structures. Each merge is performed using the same scan of the source data structure and within the same execution of a database command.

Abstract: A trigger query obtaining apparatus includes a graph creating unit, a score calculation unit, a trigger query obtaining unit, and an output unit. The graph creating unit creates a minimal directed graph having nodes each corresponding to a search query included in one of two search logs, and a link directed from one node to another node. The score calculation unit calculates a score for each node of a directed graph composed of minimal directed graphs, using a seed query. The trigger query obtaining unit obtains a trigger query that is a search query corresponding to a node having a score that satisfies a condition. The output unit outputs the trigger query.

Abstract: Digital maps of private spaces may be implemented using mobile computing device sensors. Sensor data may be received from one or more mobile computing devices to determine a digital signature describing a private space. Scheduling data may also be received from the one or more mobile devices. The scheduling data may describe a location associated with the private space to be mapped. A digital map of the private space may then be generated from the digital signature and the location associated with the private space in the scheduling data.

Abstract: In one aspect, dynamic determination generates a storage resource graph corresponding to a storage topology. The generating may comprise iterating through storage resources in the storage topology and using a discovery handler to generate a node in the storage resource graph corresponding to each of the iterated storage resources. Dynamic determination generates an operation graph by iterating through nodes in the storage resource graph and using an operating handler to generate operation-specific metadata corresponding to each iterated node of the storage resource graph. Dynamic generating executes the operation graph in a way specific to the operation.

Abstract: Systems and methods of maintaining a horizontally scaled database based on data ownership for a cloud-based platform (e.g., cloud-based collaboration and/or storage platform/service) are disclosed. The system database comprises multiple shard databases, and all files and folders owned by a user are stored on a single shard database. When a user transfers ownership of a file and/or a folder to a second user, the transferred file and/or folder is stored on the shard database that stores all of the data for the second user.

Abstract: Methods and systems of integrated batching and random sampling of documents for enhanced functionality and quality control, such as validation, within a document review process are provided herein. According to various embodiments, a batching request may be received and may include a population size that corresponds to a total amount of documents available for sampling. The batching request may also include an acceptable margin of error. A random sample size may be calculated based on the batching request, and then a subset of documents corresponding to the random sample size may be selected from the total amount of documents available for sampling. The subset of documents may be grouped into one or more batches, and the one or more batches may be assigned to one or more review nodes.

Abstract: Delivering targeted content includes collecting, via at least one tangible processor, user activity data for users during a specified time period. questions asked by the users during the specified time period are extracted from the user activity data, via the at least one tangible processor, and stored in user profiles for the users. The user profiles are clustered, via the at least one tangible processor, based on the questions asked. Targeted content is delivered, via the at least one tangible processor, to a subset of the users based on the clustering.

Abstract: A data transmission apparatus and method. Information exchange between virtual worlds is achieved by encoding information on a virtual world into metadata and transmitting the metadata to another virtual world. In particular, since the information on the virtual world is encoded into a binary format, high speed data transmission may be achieved.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for previewing search results. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a query from a client device. One or more image search results are provided to the client device, each of the one or more image search results identifying a corresponding image resource and each of the one or more image search results including an image representation of the corresponding image resource. One or more related queries are provided to the client device, the one or more related queries having been determined to be related to the query, wherein each of the one or more related queries includes a preview image to be displayed at the client device, the preview image representing an image search result responsive to the related query.

Abstract: In an approach to determine a product rating a computer receives a user request for a product rating. The computer retrieves from on-line sources, product information on the product and analyzes the product information to determine a first product rating. The analysis includes at least a sentiment, and a trend of the sentiment. The approach includes a computer identifying products similar to the product and retrieving from on-line sources product information on similar products. A computer extracts comments on the product from the similar product information and determines an adjustment to the first product rating based on an analysis of the comments and references to the product in the similar product information. The adjustment to the first product rating includes using a sentiment, a trend of the sentiment over time, and a frequency of comments and references to the product over time in the retrieved plurality of similar product information.

Abstract: A method of and system for enhanced local-device content discovery is disclosed. A method includes providing a local collection of content items and associated metacontent on a device. The metacontent describes the informational content of the corresponding content items. A remote catalog of metacontent items and information describing relationships between the metacontent items is provided. Input is received from the user for finding at least one desired content item and a search query is formed including at least one metacontent item of the remote catalog based on matching the input from the user with metacontent items of the catalog and further based on the information describing relationships between the metacontent items. A subset of content items of the local collection associated with metacontent that at least partially matches the search query is selected and presented on a display device based on at least one ranking criterion.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for manifesting a multiple repository system as a single repository to an application that is designed to use a single repository. According to one aspect, a particular container, which is used by the application to store data, is identified. One or more additional containers are created in one or more different repositories. Each of the additional containers is formatted to store the data that the application stores in the particular container. A construct is created. The construct is associated with the particular container's identifier. The construct causes information from the particular container and each of the additional containers to be combined to answer database commands that reference the particular container's identifier. As a result, data stored in a single repository can be distributed among multiple repositories, and the unmodified application can continue to access that data as though the data was stored in the single repository.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for a global communication handler to facilitate communication between an Flex application and an Enterprise Application Server (“EAS”) database. Data is obtained from the EAS database by the global communication handler, and the global communication handler instantiates at least one object that provides that data to a Flex application. The global communication handler also receives data from the Flex application, and writes that data to the EAS database.

Abstract: Methods for generating meta-tagged media files, in which features of an event recorded in the media file are tagged to identify content, are disclosed herein. The methods include independent and simultaneous generation of a media file and meta-tags, and the combination of the media file and the meta tags based on a correlation of device times to generate the meta-tagged media file.

Abstract: In accordance with embodiments, there are provided mechanisms and methods for portal user data access in a multi-tenant on-demand database system. These mechanisms and methods for portal user data access in a multi-tenant on-demand database system can enable embodiments to provide portal-specific user accounts to the multi-tenant on-demand database system which have reduced configuration requirements than users directly accessing the multi-tenant on-demand database system. The ability of embodiments to provide portal-specific user accounts can reduce processing requirements of the database system.

Abstract: Methods for identifying content in encrypted or otherwise protected files utilize crowd sourcing for content identification. One such method includes, using a computer, selecting defined content titles to be presented with identifiers for data files for use in obtaining user selection data. The method may also include receiving the user selection data from multiple independent sources, the user selection data indicating users' selections of single ones of the content titles for respective single ones of the data files. The method may also include determining for ones of the identifiers, using the one or more computers processing the user selection data, respective ones of the content titles satisfying a minimum confidence threshold for association with the ones of the identifiers. An apparatus for performing the method comprises a processor coupled to a memory, the memory holding instructions for performing steps of the method as summarized above.

Abstract: A system and method for distributed locking for networked device management is provided. In one aspect, a lock is granted for a resource attached to a switched fabric, in response to receiving a request to access the resource. If the resource is already locked by another process or device, or otherwise unavailable, the request may be queued or failed.
