  • Patent number: 11483185
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved approach for a training approach to implement DFE for an electronic circuit. The inventive concept is particularity suitable to address, for example, circuits that implement high speed parallel data transmission protocols, such as GDDR6, that are used for graphics applications. The training scheme uses minimal hardware when compared to existing schemes by reusing calibration receiver in auto zeroing receiver as error receiver. Further it works for closed eyes by running the algorithm multiple times with gradual increase in complexity of training pattern, where DFE coefficients from previous iteration is used for the current iteration, thereby gradually opening the eye.

  • Patent number: 11438197
Abstract: In described examples of a signal equalizer, a complex signal having a first signal component and a second signal component is received from a communication channel. Adaptive equalization of crosstalk between the first signal component and the second signal component is performed using a single complex tap of a feedforward equalizer. A feedforward filter with real only taps converts the channel into a minimum phase channel that has postcursor interference only so that a low complexity decision feedback filter with all complex taps can easily eliminate the postcursor interreference.

  • Patent number: 11432176
Abstract: Some wireless communication networks may improve communication reliability and/or throughput using multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) schemes. MIMO operation may in turn be supported by the use of channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS), which may allow communicating devices to estimate and leverage multipath channel conditions. However, the signaling used to support such communications may consume significant resources. In accordance with the described techniques, a user equipment (UE) may identify non-zero-power beams based on received CSI-RS. The non-zero-power beams may contribute to the final precoding vector. Rather than transmitting beam coefficients relating to zero-power beams, the UE may instead indicate a presence of these zero-power beams to the base station (e.g., by indicating a number of non-zero-power beams). Such techniques may reduce overhead of the communications or otherwise benefit the system.
