Abstract: Technologies for converting mobile communications network billing records include a billing record converter system. The billing record converter system receives a data usage billing record associated with a mobile computing device communicatively coupled to a long term evolution wireless communications network. The received data usage billing record is formatted according to a real-time data usage billing record format. The received data usage billing record is converted into a new data usage billing record formatted according to a roaming data usage billing record format that corresponds to a legacy wireless communications network. The new data usage billing record is transmitted to a billing system of the legacy wireless communications network for processing. In some embodiments, the billing record converter system cumulates and converts multiple data usage billing records associated with the mobile computing device into the new data usage billing record. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 10111106
Abstract: A network infrastructure equipment establishes a configuration of radio resources within a second frequency band for use by a terminal device for communications with network infrastructure equipment based on a first radio access technology and communicates an indication of that to the terminal device. The terminal device establishes a configuration of radio resources for use by the terminal device for communications based on a second radio access technology and determines if there is any overlap in radio resources configured for use by two different radio access technologies, and if so communicates an indication of that to the network infrastructure equipment. In response the network infrastructure equipment establishes a replacement configuration of radio resources for communications with the terminal device based on the first radio access technology that avoids the radio resources indicated as subject to overlap, and transmits an indication of the replacement configuration to the terminal device.

  • Patent number: 10104037
Abstract: Embodiments of the present application provide a method and system for network access request control. During operation, the system may identify a network access request received by a website. The system may determine a type of the network access request, and control the network access request according to the type of the network access request. The type of the network access request can be one of a user access request, a crawler access request, or an invalid access request. Based on the type of the network access request and/or the access requests overall compared to a cluster stability threshold, the system may take measures to throttle the access requests or otherwise adjust a throttling policy. The system may take measures such as demoting a service to a lower priority, rejecting execution of an access request, redirecting an access request to another service cluster, and expanding a physical layer of a service cluster.

  • Patent number: 10091693
Abstract: The present invention facilitates handoffs for a mobile terminal in a wireless access network that is capable of supporting different types of handoffs. The different handoff types may include soft handoffs and fast base station switching (FBSS). In operation, context information associated with supporting wireless communications between the wireless access network and the mobile terminal are determined. Based on whether the context information is shared between base stations involved in the handoff or transferred from one base station to another of the base stations involved in the handoff, a particular handoff type is selected from the different handoff types that are available. Selecting the specific type of handoff to use may also be based on the level of context information that is available, the actual content of the context information, application preferences, channel conditions, base station or mobile terminal capabilities, or any combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 10057710
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for augmenting global positioning system (GPS)-based navigation via light-based communication (LCom). In accordance with some embodiments, a light-sensing device, such as a camera or an ambient light sensor configured as described herein, may be used to detect an LCom signal transmitted by a local LCom-enabled solid-state luminaire. The LCom signal may include data about the location of the transmitting luminaire, and in some cases that location data may be used, for example, in computing the amount of time that it would take to navigate indoors to the luminaire's location. In some instances, GPS data also may be considered to calculate the total trip duration for an entire trip, including time spent indoors and outdoors. In some other cases, the location data and, if available, GPS data may be used, for example, in computing an automotive navigation route.

  • Patent number: 10051493
Abstract: A network communication system includes three or more nodes that are wirelessly connected in a mesh configuration, forming a reconfigurable mesh network, to improve communication link performance. The reconfigurable mesh network can be dynamically adjusted to maintain and improve communication links throughout a region serviced by the mesh, or between a source and destination on the mesh network. Adaptive antenna system techniques are implemented in one or more of the nodes on the mesh network, such that multiple radiation pattern modes can be generated to dynamically adjust radiated performance between specific links along a selected path for communicating information on the mesh network. Antenna system metrics, such as signal to noise ratio, signal to interference plus noise ratio, and receive signal strength indicator are used to monitor and to adjust adaptive antenna system characteristics to optimize link performance between nodes on the mesh network.
