  • Patent number: 7047208
Abstract: A system and method for detecting supplier instability is disclosed. Warning indicators such as annual warning indicators and early warning indicators are assigned values and analyzed to determine the stability of a supplier. Annual and early warning indicator values are based on supplier data related to profit, financial, quality, cost, delivery, development, management, and sensing data. As a result of the analysis of the annual warning and early warning indicator values, each supplier is assigned a supplier stability measure or level. Suppliers that are determined by the company to be unstable are guided by the company through a recovery process to restore stability. The present invention allows a company to maintain a smooth and stable supply of products, parts, or materials to its business operations.

  • Patent number: 7043443
Abstract: A system and method for matching potential employees with potential employers over a network. Potential employers provide position information for one or more job openings over the network to a employee recruitment, job matching and job placement system. Case workers work with potential employees in assessing the potential employees and providing the potential employee's job qualification information, physical and behavioral health information and social needs over the network to the employee recruitment, job matching and job placement system. The employee recruitment, job matching and job placement system compares the information for the potential employee with the position information for at least one job opening and generates a list of job openings and corresponding matching percentages. A matching percentage is the percentage of the received information from the potential employee matches the position information for a job listing of a potential employer.

  • Patent number: 6270288
Abstract: A cable flushing lateral is inserted into a guide tube or conduit through which a cable is to be payed out. The flushing lateral is in the form of a pipe within a pipe with a cylindrical space formed between the pipes. The inner pipe is connected to the upstream side of the guide tube and the outer pipe is connected to the downstream side of the guide tube. The upstream end of the outer pipe has a Y-connection to which a water source is connected such that water under pressure may enter the space between the pipes. The inner pipe has an open nozzle termination at its downstream end and the outer pipe is closed against the inner pipe at its upstream end. The cable to be payed out extends through the guide tube and flushing lateral. The pressure and velocity of the water flowing through the cylindrical space between the inner and outer pipes become uniform. As the water flows past the end of the nozzle, a uniform flow of water surrounds the cable.

  • Patent number: 6206141
Abstract: A gravity motor using the potential energy of an initial mass located at a relative height. This potential energy can be converted into kinetic energy. This gravity motor comprises a storage bin (26) able to contain a quantity of fragmented material (39) and having a base (28) with a first chute (30) to take the fragmented material (39) out of the base (28), a second chute (34) with an exit (58) and a guiding cylinder (32) of the exit (58), a wheel (60) with vanes (61) that rotate a rotor (46). While rotating, each vane (61) can collect a volume of the fragmented material (39) and act as a torque around a central axis, thus causing the rotation of the wheel around the central axis, at a velocity corresponding to the kinetic energy of the volume of the fragmented material (39). The rotor (46) comprises means for articulated fastening to a machinery part.

  • Patent number: 6158297
Abstract: A surface micromachined Counter-Meshing Gears (CMG) discrimination device which functions as a mechanically coded lock. Each of two CMG has a first portion of its perimeter devoted to continuous driving teeth that mesh with respective pinion gears. Each EMG also has a second portion of its perimeter devoted to regularly spaced discrimination gear teeth that extend outwardly on at least one of three levels of the CMG. The discrimination gear teeth are designed so as to pass each other without interference only if the correct sequence of partial rotations of the CMG occurs in response to a coded series of rotations from the pinion gears. A 24 bit code is normally input to unlock the device. Once unlocked, the device provides a path for an energy or information signal to pass through the device. The device is designed to immediately lock up if any portion of the 24 bit code is incorrect.

  • Patent number: 6145624
Abstract: The grease coupling of this invention is made from three elements that are conventional and readily available: a nut; an externally threaded tube; and a grease fitting. These three elements are integrated to define an effective grease coupling to lubricate a steering cable that extends through an outer sheath from the steering wheel to the outboard motor of a boat. The method of making the grease coupling enables a competent mechanic to custom-make an efficient grease coupling, and also minimizes the cost of mass producing the grease coupling.

  • Patent number: 6116815
Abstract: A system for preventing release from an underground storage tank from further migrating into surrounding geological formations and groundwater of a surrounding underground storage tank field includes a low permeable layer surrounding the tank field and a set of horizontal pipes positioned above and below the underground storage tank above the low permeable layer within underground storage tank field. The horizontal pipes include two portions including a lower portion installed below the underground storage tanks and an upper portion installed above the underground storage tanks. An air blower injects air in the lower portion of the horizontal pipes for providing air flow which passes through the formation of the underground storage tank to strip out volatile and semi-volatile components of any release from the underground storage tanks when there is a small release from the underground storage tanks.

  • Patent number: 6109821
Abstract: A roadway marker comprises a solid body member having a lower generally planar surface configured to be adhered directly to a roadway surface. The marker is injection molded as a one-piece structure from a closed-cell foam thermoplastic material using a chemical blowing agent. The bottom surface of the body member may be formed with slight recesses or protrusions such that the entire bottom of the marker fills with adhesive when the marker is installed. Thus, maximum adhesive surface area is provided between the marker and the roadway surface. Further, the closed-cell foam construction creates a marker body which is strong, economical to mold and which does not shrink after molding.

  • Patent number: 6095938
Abstract: A fixed chain guide for absorbing vibrations during running of a chain is composed of a shoe in sliding contact with the chain and a plate base supporting the shoe. The plate base is secured to a mounting surface by two mounting seats integral with the base plate. The mounting seats are formed by bending them in opposite directions along bend lines, to have the seats in an essentially common plane but extending in opposite directions from the bottom edge of the base plate. The base plate is punched out of sheet stock in such a way that failure will not occur at the respective bend lines of the mounting seat by forming the ends of the bend lines so that there is a shear surface on the outside of the bend and a rupture surface on the inside of the bend. Punching the stock originally produces a shear surface adjacent one surface of the stock at the ends of one of the bend lines and a rupture surface adjacent the other side of the stock.

  • Patent number: 6092431
Abstract: A driving device (actuator) 10 includes a driving shaft 16 which is Linearly driven in the axial direction by a piezoelectric element 15 and two disks 18a and 18b which are made of an elastic material and fixed to a rotary shaft 17. Peripheral portions of the two disks 18a and 18b vertically hold the driving shaft 16 between them so as to be frictionally coupled with the driving shaft 16 by their elastic forces. When the driving shaft 16 is linearly driven in the axial direction by the piezoelectric element 15, the peripheral portions of the two disks 18a and 18b receive a force in the tangential direction and rotate around the rotary shaft 17.
