  • Patent number: 8804215
Abstract: A scanner apparatus comprises a transparent platen having a top side and a bottom side opposite the top side, and an optical sensor unit positioned adjacent the bottom side of the transparent platen. The optical sensor unit scans an image of at least one item placed on the top side of the platen to produce an electronic scanned image of the item. Further, a weight sensor unit is connected to the transparent platen. The weight sensor unit senses the weight of the item placed on the top side of the platen to produce an item weight. A processor is operatively connected to the optical sensor unit and to the weight sensor unit. The processor combines the electronic scanned image of the item and the item weight to produce image and weight data, and the processor outputs the image and weight data.

  • Patent number: 8760714
Abstract: A color space converter converts data points from one color space to another color space using a lookup table. Color space converters may be used in any device that involves image processing, such as displays and printers. An interface receives an input value in a first color space. A controller access a lookup table stored in memory to determine an upper bound and a lower bound of a subset of the color space. An output value is interpolated between the upper bound and the lower bound using interpolation values. The interpolation values of the last subset in any dimension of the color space are modified by a scale factor to approximate ideal values.

  • Patent number: 8760707
Abstract: A print data processing apparatus process variable print data includes a cache unit, a determination unit, a determining unit, and a writing unit. The cache unit caches image data generated according to a drawing command included in the variable print data as cache data in a cache memory. The determination unit determines whether it is necessary to write the cache data in a secondary storage medium that is different from the cache memory. The determining unit determines cache data to be written in the secondary storage medium, in response to the determination unit determining that it is necessary to write the cache data in the secondary storage medium, based on a number of pages to be processed before each cache data cached in the cache memory is used next. The writing unit writes the cache data determined by the determining unit in the secondary storage medium.

  • Patent number: 8619274
Abstract: When an input value is a standard value which is smaller than a maximum value (for example, 230), all pixels of a screen matrix is printed with the same output value (for example, 195), when the input value is within the range not more than the standard value, the output value is limited to not more than 195, and number of the pixels is changed so as to express graduation. In the range where the input value exceeds the standard value, the graduation is expressed by changing the output value of each pixel in the range above 195 while printing all the pixels of the screen.

  • Patent number: 8571242
Abstract: In a digital hearing aid device (1) frequency modification is employed above a lower spectral bound and in accordance with a compression factor. The frequency modification is dynamically adjusted in dependence on a sound environment analysis (10) or an end-user input (30), by modifying the frequency modification parameters such as a lower spectral bound and a compression factor. The adjustment can be based on an interpolation between predefined parameters. In certain sound environments, such as loud noise, own-voice and telephone conversations, frequency modification is reduced or switched off. The proposed solutions have the advantage that the occurrence of disturbing noise and of distortions of harmonic relationships at the end-user's ear is reduced and signal processing resources as well as battery resources are saved.

  • Patent number: 8542405
Abstract: A method for forming a color transform for a color printing device having a plurality of colorant channels that includes applying a tone scale adjustment function and a total colorant load limit. An optimization process is used to optimize a merit function including a tone scale reproduction accuracy term and a gamut shape term. The method involves determining an initial merit function value responsive to an initial total colorant load limit and an initial set of tone scale adjustment parameters for a tone scale adjustment function. Modified tone scale adjustment parameters and a modified total colorant load limit are determined that provide an improved merit function value subject to a constraint that an average total colorant load is no more than a predefined threshold for a predefined distribution of input colors.

  • Patent number: 8514453
Abstract: A method for processing a high dynamic range (HDR) image for printing. Tone mapping is first applied to the input image to map the colors, to find an optimized range of brightness values, and to scale the color to place colors inside the optimized range (in-range colors) into a device color space (e.g. sRGB), but without clipping colors outside of the optimized range (out-of-range colors). The scaled colors are then converted to the color space of the output device (e.g. CMYK) using WCS (Windows Color System) color transform, where the in-range colors are processed using a optimized transform and the out-of-range are processed using a sequential transform. A mapping from the original color space to the converted color space for all colors in the image is stored in a lookup table (LUT), and the input image is converted to the output image using the LUT.
