  • Patent number: 10047803
Abstract: A power transmitting apparatus for transmitting or cutting-off the rotational driving power inputted to an input member to or from an output member by press-contacting or releasing the press-contacting force between driving-side clutch discs and driven-side clutch discs, wherein the power transmitting apparatus comprises interlocking members (e.g., a first member and second member) interlocking with the motion of the weight members from their radially inward positions to radially outward positions and movable toward a direction approaching to the pressure member; and elastic members interposed between the interlocking members and the pressure member and able to move the pressure member toward a direction for press-contacting the driving-side clutch discs and the driven-side clutch discs by urging the pressure member according to the movement of the interlocking members and also able to absorb the urging force of the pressure member applied to interlocking members when the actuating member is operated.

  • Patent number: 10046768
Abstract: In order to reduce drivetrain component wear and tear, a machine monitors for an impending downshift and automatically slows the machine to a speed that keeps engine rpm below a target engine rpm before the downshift is completed. A controller in the machine determines the current speed of the machine and then slows the machine to a new speed associated with the target rpm in the new gear. The controller may simply apply the brakes to slow the machine to the new speed independently of the process of changing gears or may actively delay the gear change until the new speed is achieved.

  • Patent number: 10030752
Abstract: A torque converter is provided. The torque converter includes an impeller; a turbine axially movable toward and away from the impeller; and a damper coupled to the turbine, the damper including an elastic element forcing the turbine against the impeller in an equal pressure condition. A method of forming a torque converter is also provided. The method includes forming a damper to include an elastic element; providing the damper inside a front cover so the damper contacts the front cover; and providing axially movable turbine between the damper and an impeller such that the elastic element forces the turbine to engage an impeller in an equal pressure condition.

  • Patent number: 10005463
Abstract: Methods and systems for improving vacuum generation for an engine that may be operated at higher altitudes are presented. In one non-limiting example, a transmission that is mechanically coupled to the engine may be shifted from a gear to neutral in response to an actual total number of times a vehicle brake pedal is applied and partially released while the vehicle is stopped and the brake pedal is applied.

  • Patent number: 9995385
Abstract: A method and device for actuating a shift element of an automatic transmission having a start-stop function and a pressure medium pump driven by an internal combustion engine. The shifting elements are clutches or brakes that can be actuated by a piston which is actuated for engagement via pressure supplied to a pressure space. The pressure space is depressurized when the engine stops. To enhance start-stop operation, the shifting elements comprise an additional pressure space that acts, in opposition to the pressure space acting in the engaging direction, as a controllable restoring mechanism which can be rendered inactive, if desired. If the engine stops and the automatic start-stop function is activated, the additional pressure spaces, acting in the restoring direction, are depressurized before the pressure drop in the pressure spaces, acting in the engaging direction, of the pistons, but are otherwise permanently pressurized during driving operation.

  • Patent number: 9982722
Abstract: The present invention relates to transferring torque between a first unit, which is typically a mobile machine or a robot, and a second unit, which is typically a fixed or stationary machine. The units are arranged such that a drive coupler of the first unit designed for delivering torque about a drive axis can engage the driven coupler, which belongs to the second unit and has a driven axis, along an engagement direction that is nearly perpendicular to the direction of the driven axis. A lateral displacement mechanism in provided is the first unit to achieve a first-order coaxial alignment between the drive and driven axes. Additional measures such as compliance mechanisms are provided for improving engagement, coupling and reducing the level of axial misalignment in the apparatus and methods of the invention.

  • Patent number: 9958017
Abstract: A metering device for controlling an oil delivery rate for a wet-running clutch. The wet-running clutch has at least one pair of interacting friction surfaces and an actuation unit for actuating the wet-running clutch. The actuation unit has an axially supported support disk and an axially displaceable thrust disk, wherein the thrust disk and the support disk are rotatable relative to one another. The metering device has a first component which is connected fixedly with respect to a housing, and a second component which is connected to the thrust disk in a rotationally conjoint and axially relatively displaceable manner.
