  • Patent number: 10422226
Abstract: An airfoil for a turbine engine includes pressure and suction sides extending in a radial direction from a 0% span position at an inner flow path location to a 100% span position at an airfoil tip. The airfoil has a relationship between an axial leading edge location and a span position that is at least a third order polynomial with a generally U-shaped curve having an initial negative slope followed by a positive slope. The positive slope leans aftward and the negative slope leans forward. The curve has a critical point in the range of 30-50% span position at which the curve changes from the negative slope to the positive slope. The curve is generally linear from 55% span to 75% span and has a positive slope that increases at a rate of about 0.0875 inch (2.22 mm) per 1% span, +/?0.04 inch (1.01 mm) per 1% span.

  • Patent number: 10422276
Abstract: A wastegate assembly with a valve head moved linearly toward and away from a wastegate port via a valve stem. When the valve is in an open position the valve seat face of the valve head is spaced apart from the valve seat. When the valve is in a closed position the valve seat face of the valve head is secured against the valve seat. The wastegate assembly includes a sidewall surrounding the wastegate port elongated in the direction of valve movement. The contoured side wall widens going away from the valve seat. The minimum flow area through the wastegate port is controlled such that the flow is choked via the side wall rather than the valve curtain area. The contoured side wall can be recessed into the housing or extend from the housing.

  • Patent number: 10408141
Abstract: In a lean-burn engine equipped with a turbocharger, a responsiveness of a supercharging pressure in a lean region is enhanced by control of a valve timing of an exhaust valve while a combustion state is restrained from varying. A variable valve mechanism that can change an opening timing of the exhaust valve while keeping a closing timing of the exhaust valve constant, is included in the lean-burn engine. When a target operation point is located in the lean region, and when an actual supercharging pressure is lower than a target supercharging pressure, supercharging pressure increasing control that advances the opening timing while keeping the closing timing constant is executed by operating the variable valve mechanism.

  • Patent number: 10378406
Abstract: An exhaust emission control apparatus is provided with a supply device, a catalyst, and a gas pressure reduction part. The supply device supplies a reducing agent to an exhaust passage. The catalyst purifies an exhaust gas by the use of the reducing agent. The gas pressure reduction part can make a gas pressure near the supply port lower than the gas pressure on the inside of a supply device body. A NOx catalyst adsorbs nitrogen oxide contained in the exhaust. NOx adsorbed by the NOx catalyst is desorbed from the NOx catalyst when the exhaust gas is purified. An ECU estimates an adsorption amount of NOx. Then, the ECU estimates a desorption amount of NOx desorbed from the NOx catalyst on the basis of the estimated adsorption amount of NOx.
