  • Patent number: 5862583
Abstract: Panels are positioned relative to a pattern by moving the pattern onto a registration mechanism having contact elements, engaging contact areas on the pattern with contact elements by moving the contact elements synchronously and equidistantly while allowing the registration mechanism to move as the elements engage the contact areas, locking the position of the registration mechanism, and engaging contact areas on sequential panels by moving the contact elements of the locked registration mechanism synchronously and equidistantly to contact areas on one panel after the other.

  • Patent number: 5839762
Abstract: A structure of book page for binding a book or album comprising an elongate sheet composed of a plurality of continuous sections each including a wide rectangular portion abutting a narrow rectangular portion divided by a first and a second folding lines, a pair of flap members abutting two ends of the wide rectangular portion and divided by a pair of third folding lines, a pair of trapezoidal indentations in two ends of the narrow rectangular portion engageable with the trapezoidal flap members. Both the flap members and the narrow rectangular portion are folded upward along the second and third folding lines and attached to the upper surface of the wide rectangular portions. Where the sections are folded downward along the first folding lines. So that a continuous double-layer book pages are therefore accomplished with a trapezoidal concave in the inside margin of each of the outmost pages for receiving the trapezoidal flaps of a pair of hard covers.

  • Patent number: 5829115
Abstract: Riveting apparatus wherein a planetary roller screw delivers the high forces required for actuating the fastener upset tooling. In order that precise control of the entire upset operation may be obtained, a servo-controlled electric motor operates the actuator. In order that different machining operations may be performed on a workpiece without having to provide an actuator for each tool, the tools are engaged in turn by the actuator for performing riveting and other machining in succession.

  • Patent number: 5809628
Abstract: A superior lubricating oil composition which can be used in metal forming operations is made up of an .alpha.-olefin and a hydrotreated naphthenic distillate. This lubricating oil composition is particularly suited for use in a vacuum de-oiling brazing process in that it improves tool life, reduces residue deposits on forming dies and completely vaporizes at a low vacuum brazing temperature.

  • Patent number: 5774966
Abstract: A method of attaching a plastic material to a fabric for decorative and/or protective purposes and upholstering a form includes the step of forming a pressure plate having concavities on one side thereof disposed in a selected pattern, said selected pattern corresponding to a desired pattern of application of the plastic material on a fabric and providing fluid communication between each concavity on another side of said pressure plate and a supply of fluid plastic material. The fabric is disposed on a bed and the pressure plate is against the fabric and bed to form a seal between the concavities. Thereafter fluid plastic material is forced through the concavities and into portions of the fabric disposed under each concavity to form the desired pattern on the fabric. The fluid plastic material is allowed to harden and thereafter the pressure plate is separated from the fabric leaving hardened plastic embedded in said selected pattern on said fabric.

  • Patent number: 5669130
Abstract: A seat back assembling device designed for engaging two hook members of an incomplete seat back unit with each other to close the corresponding opened side thereof so as to form a complete seat back. In the device, all required operative mechanisms are collectively disposed to automatically assemble such incomplete seat back unit. Namely, the incomplete seat back unit is pressingly supported by a pressing mechanism, and the two hook members of the incomplete seat back unit are provisionally secured and brought to engagement with each other, by a positioning mechanism and a positioning/engaging mechanism. The hook members thus engaged together are subject to a further positive mutual engagement by way of a positive engagement mechanism. All those mechanisms are disposed as close as possible to a part of the device, such as a support base frame, without requiring other separate robot systems.

  • Patent number: 5661884
Abstract: The present invention provides a descaling system for hot strip or plate mills. The descaling system includes upper and lower spray headers which are offset from each other along the pass line. Each spray header is adapted to direct a high-pressure water spray on the metal product to descale the upper or lower surface thereof. The upper and lower spray headers are offset at a distance greater than the length of the product, whereby the spray headers can be sequentially, separately used. The spray headers are coupled to a common drive pump.

  • Patent number: 5636427
Abstract: Closer comprises a cylindrical housing defined by a front end and a rear end, the housing being formed with an axial bore having an enlargement in the front end. An air-driven cylinder is fixedly mounted in the bore and has an axial drive shaft reciprocable therein extending toward the front end and terminating in an impact head normally in an inward position. Reciprocably disposed in the enlargement is an annular trigger loosely surrounding the impact head and normally in an outward position extending down beyond the front end of the housing and movable to an inward position when the housing is lightly depressed over the fastener. An actuator in the housing is moved by the trigger as it approaches its inward position to activate the cylinder and slam the impact head downward to close the fastener. In a modification the cylinder is replaced by a solenoid.

  • Patent number: 5630269
Abstract: A method and apparatus for positioning and holding a pair of sheet metal blanks to be butt welded into a compound blank for stamping a larger panel with varying thicknesses. A fixture plate is provided with locating corners matching predetermined reference corners of the blank and with mechanisms for pushing the blanks into the locating corners. The first blank is pushed into abutment with stops that are then pivoted out of the way, after the first blank is clamped in place. The second blank is then abutted with the already clamped first blank, and clamped. The loaded fixture is then transported to a weld station, where the pre positioned blanks can be quickly and efficiently laser welded.
