An electronic processor determines a list of communication groups with which a user identifier of the communication device is registered and identifies a communication group type for each communication group in the list based on service capabilities of the respective communication group. The electronic processor assigns a set of communication group types for the user identifier and determines a type of group communication application to be configured at the communication device. The electronic processor then generates user interface elements as a function of the set of communication group types and the type of group communication application and configures the group communication application including the user interface elements at the communication device for supporting group communication.

    Abstract: A wireless device generates a High Efficiency (HE) Physical layer Protocol Data Units (PPDU) including a non-High Throughput Signal (L-SIG) field and transmits the HE PPDU. Transmitting the HE PDDU includes transmitting a set of extra tones with the L-SIG field. The set of extra tones include a sequence of values, and first, second, third, and fourth values of the sequence of values respectively correspond to BPSK constellation values of ?1, ?1, ?1, and +1. The set of extra tones may include ?28th, ?27th, 27th, and 28th subcarriers, relative to a center (zero) subcarrier, of a 20 MHz bandwidth of the HE PPDU, and may be used to transmit the first, second, third, and fourth values of the sequence of values, respectively. Another wireless device may receive the HE PPDU, and may use the set of extra tones to estimate a channel.

    Abstract: A radio signal path design tool that allows radio link propagation path profiling or path-loss measurement where the link partner antenna towers are located in a proposed fixed location on the earth's surface, but are extendable a certain distance in any direction from the fixed location. The design tool can be used to compute a radio link path profile at the proposed tower location, while still correctly representing terrain variations in a variable path extension distance on either side of the radio link. To correctly represent terrain variations across the depicted portion of the earth's surface, the tool computes and applies a modified earth-bulge factor or k-factor. The variable extension distance on either side of the radio link allows for latitudinal and/or longitudinal variations in antenna tower placement, greatly facilitating the identification of appropriate positions of antenna towers during the wireless link design phase.
