  • Patent number: 10410409
Abstract: An ultrasound system and method are described for acquiring standard views of the fetal heart simultaneously with real-time imaging. A matrix array probe is manipulated until a first standard view such as a 4-chamber view is acquired. The first standard view image is matched to its corresponding plane in a fetal heart model. From the matched plane of the heart model, the orientations of the other standard views are known from the geometrical relationships of structures within the heart model. This orientation information is used to control the matrix array probe to automatically scan the planes of all of the standard views simultaneously in real-time.

  • Patent number: 10405877
Abstract: A system and method for removing a tissue specimen or organ from the body of patient is disclosed. The system includes a bag and an excising instrument. The tissue specimen or organ is located in the bag, which is located in the patient's body. The instrument comprises a guide and a cutter. The guide is configured for introduction into the bag. The cutter is rotatable within the guide and includes a central passageway and an annular cutting blade. The cutting blade is brought into engagement with a peripherally located portion of the tissue specimen and rotated to produce a tangentially cut peripheral portion while a pulling force is applied to the tissue specimen through the central passageway. The pulling force rotates the tissue specimen within the bag to effect the production of the tangentially cut peripheral portion and to move the tangentially cut peripheral portion out of the patient's body. Gas pressure may be applied to inflate the bag to facilitate placement of the excising instrument.

  • Patent number: 10398548
Abstract: A delivery device for a prosthetic heart valve includes a proximal sheath and a distal sheath. The proximal sheath has a distal end disposed at an oblique angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the proximal sheath, and the distal sheath has a proximal end disposed at an oblique angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the distal sheath. The distal end of the proximal sheath and the proximal end of the distal sheath mate so that rotation of the distal sheath relative to the proximal sheath causes the distal sheath to deflect from coaxial alignment with the proximal sheath. Deflection of the distal sheath relative to the proximal sheath enables the prosthetic valve to be axially aligned with the native valve annulus for deployment.

  • Patent number: 10395412
Abstract: Morphing animations between arbitrary chart states in a web client application are provided. A morphing animation engine interpolates changes between a first output state (before geometry) and a second output state (after geometry), aligning the before and after geometries by semantic identifiers encoded in the geometry. The morphing animation engine further performs simple geometric transitions of geometric primitives for producing an unlimited number of intermediate states (key frames) between any two arbitrary chart states without requiring per frame layouts. According to an aspect, processing times for producing intermediate frames are minimized, allowing for animations to have consistent rendering and achieving a high frame rate (60 FPS).

  • Patent number: 10376364
Abstract: Disclosed herein are embodiments of delivery capsules for delivering prosthetic implants around the relatively tight bends of a catheter. In particular, disclosed herein are delivery capsules including a tubular layer for holding the heart valve, a frame enclosing the tubular layer and an elongate element coupled to the frame for allowing the tubular layer and frame to expand. For example, the frame may be biased to expand and withdrawal of the elongate element from openings in the frame can release the frame to expand into a larger diameter. Another embodiment includes a helical wire wrapped around the capsule for easy delivery through bends and a second helical wire that is advanced between windings of the first helical wire to selectively stiffen the capsule for withdrawal. Other embodiments include sock-like capsules that can be crumpled into shorter lengths by pulling a pull line attached to the capsule.

  • Patent number: 10368897
Abstract: An ultrasonic surgical instrument is provided, including a handpiece, a lever operably coupled to the handpiece and movable between first, second, and third positions, a shaft assembly extending distally from the handpiece, and an ultrasonic waveguide extending through the shaft assembly and defining a fixed jaw member at a distal end portion thereof. An outlet at the distal end of the fixed jaw member provides irrigation of fluid. The waveguide functions as an aspirator well as a transector/dissector of tissue. A movable jaw member is disposed towards a distal end portion of the shaft assembly and is operably coupled to the lever such that movement of the lever between the first, second, and third positions moves the movable jaw member relative to the fixed jaw member between a retracted position, an extended open position, and an extended closed position.

  • Patent number: 10360725
Abstract: A tessellation method is described which uses vertex tessellation factors. For a quad patch, the method involves comparing the vertex tessellation factors for each vertex of the quad patch to a threshold value and if none exceed the threshold, the quad is sub-divided into two or four triangles. If at least one of the four vertex tessellation factors exceeds the threshold, a recursive or iterative method is used which considers each vertex of the quad patch and determines how to further tessellate the patch dependent upon the value of the vertex tessellation factor of the selected vertex or dependent upon values of the vertex tessellation factors of the selected vertex and a neighbor vertex. A similar method is described for a triangle patch.
