  • Patent number: 10079758
Abstract: A network includes a plurality of endpoint routers and intermediate routers. When a new data stream is detected at any endpoint router, the first packet is sent to a virtual routing server with knowledge of the entire network topology. Based on the topology, current usage, and historical usage, the virtual routing server determined a path for the data stream and begins to update the routing tables of the intermediate routers to reflect the determined path. Until the update is complete, all packets in the data stream are routed first to the virtual routing server and then to their destination. Once the update is complete, packets in the data stream are routed directly along the determined path.

  • Patent number: 10057018
Abstract: A method of DRX operation enhancement in adaptive TDD systems is proposed. A UE configures and enters DRX operation in an LTE/LTE-A mobile communication network. The UE obtains adaptive TDD configuration information from a base station. The adaptive TDD configuration information comprises an actual TDD configuration and a reference TDD configuration. The UE performs DRX timer counting and HARQ timer counting based on the reference TDD configuration. The UE also synchronizes DRX status with the base station. With the reference TDD configuration, it can avoid the potential misunderstanding between eNB and UE regarding DRX and HARQ RTT timing when TDD configuration changes.

  • Patent number: 10020901
Abstract: An approach for inter-gateway interference estimation and admission control is provided. A gateway receives return link signals, each being received via a satellite from a respective user terminal (UT) located within a satellite beam serviced by the gateway. A transmit power factor and an interference factor are determined for each UT based on the respective return link signal. A total interference factor is determined for the UTs based on the transmit power factors and the interference factors. A residual capacity level for the satellite beam is determined based on the total interference factor and a noise power factor. The gateway receives an admission request from a further UT requesting admission for transmission of a return link signal. The gateway determines whether to grant the admission request based on a required capacity level for the return link signal of the further UT relative to the residual capacity level.

  • Patent number: 9985875
Abstract: A system and method for handling critical events in service delivery gateways. Events are defined that cause a transition from a master redundancy state to a standby redundancy state in service delivery gateways and a plurality of signal-routes are stored. Each signal-route is associated with one or more of the defined events. A first defined event is detected in the first service delivery gateway and causes a transition from the first master redundancy state to the first standby redundancy state in the first service delivery gateway and a change in a first signal-route from the plurality of signal-routes in the first service delivery gateway. The change in the first signal-route is advertised and a second service delivery gateway transitions from the first standby redundancy state to the first master redundancy state.

  • Patent number: 9980159
Abstract: An enhanced RRC re-establishment procedure on secondary base station (SeNB) is proposed. A UE with dual connectivity is connected to both a master base station (MeNB) and a secondary eNB (SeNB). The UE performs radio link monitoring (RLM) and radio link failure (RLF) procedures over PCELL served by the MeNB. Once RLF is detected, the UE performs RRC connection reestablishment with a selected cell. From SeNB perspective, the SeNB triggers proactive fetching of UE context from the MeNB to ensure a successful reestablishment. From MeNB perspective, the MeNB provides preference information to the UE for selecting a suitable cell for reestablishment. From UE perspective, the UE considers its mobility state during cell selection such that smallcells are skipped for reestablishment when the UE has high mobility.

  • Patent number: 9961004
Abstract: Embodiments provide popularity-based adaptive bitrate management of linear programming over constrained communications links. Embodiments can operate in context of a communications network communicating with multiple mobile client devices disposed in one or more transport craft. A number of channel offerings, including channels providing linear programming, can be made available via the communications network for consumption by the client devices. Embodiments can compute channel popularity scores for the channel offerings based on a predicted popularity, an estimated popularity, a measured popularity, etc. A bitrate can be determined for each (some or all) of the channel offerings based at least in part on its channel popularity score, so that more popular channel offerings can be communicated at higher bitrates. Determined-bitrate instances of the channel offerings can be obtained and/or generated, and delivered via the communications network, to the client devices for consumption.

  • Patent number: 9955402
Abstract: When a first sensor node has a large power consumption, an information processing apparatus propagates a portion of request information for a data process having the request recipient set to a second sensor node, through a path that does not pass through the first sensor node. For example, the information processing apparatus changes a division rate at a third sensor node acting as a branching point for the request information for the data process having the request recipient set to the second sensor node to thereby change the distribution of the transferred data amount and equalize the power consumption of the sensor nodes in a sensor network.

  • Patent number: 9883477
Abstract: An access terminal pre-registers with a second access network via a first access network to ensure a quick handover in the future. Frequent pre-registration attempts are avoided by implementing a hysteresis timer that restricts when a pre-registration process can be initiated. The hysteresis timer is started when pre-registration is initiated by the access terminal. No new pre-registration attempts are permitted if the hysteresis timer has not expired. An abort condition can cause the hysteresis timer to be aborted early, and a new pre-registration can be initiated. Access points in the first access network may be grouped into one or more pre-registration zones. If the access terminal moves from a first access point to a second access point, a new pre-registration is skipped if the first and second access points have the same pre-registration zone or the second access point is aware of the pre-registration zone for the first access point.

  • Patent number: 9860845
Abstract: Certain aspects involve an interface device for a distributed antenna system (“DAS”). In some aspects, the interface device can include an interface, a power detector, and a processor. The interface can include one or more ports for communicatively coupling the interface device to a base station and a switch that is switchable between first and second configurations. The first configuration connects a port to a downlink path of the DAS, and the second configuration connects the port to a signal reflection path. The processor can switch the switch between the first and second configurations based on a signal power measured by the power detector at the port. In other aspects, the interface device can include additional ports and termination loads. The processor can cause a signal path to be connected to a termination load instead of a port based on the port being disconnected from a unit of the DAS.
