    Abstract: An electronic starting motor control having low voltage protection. The starting motor has a solenoid coil which when energized causes solenoid contacts to be closed to energize the motor and to move a pinion into mesh with the ring gear of an engine to be cranked. A plurality of parallel connected field effect transistors connect and disconnect the solenoid coil to and from system direct voltage. When system voltage is below a predetermined value the field effect transistors are turned off and are maintained turned off until a start switch is opened. The system will not turn off the field effect transistors when short term voltages occur that go below the predetermined value. Various other circuits are disclosed for turning the field effect transistors on and off.

    Abstract: A call registering and indicating device includes a keyboard wherein calls for desired floors of destination can be entered without pressing a register key after a correct input or pressing a correction key after an incorrect call input. A call input is possible only if a proximity switch connected with the call input keyboard is activated. On deactivation of the proximity switch, a delay circuit causes the call to be automatically registered. An erroneously entered call is automatically cancelled by means of a second control circuit, where simultaneouly a second indicating element lights up in the form of a double question mark. A third indicating element, signaling the selected elevator, located on the same indicating panel, as well as a fourth and fifth indicating element, signaling the position of the selected elevator in relation to the actuated keyboard, are connected with a group control circuit by way of further control circuits.

    Abstract: An electronic control for an electric engine starter that includes a cranking motor and a solenoid for moving a pinion into mesh with an engine ring gear and for operating solenoid contacts. If end tooth abutment occurs between the pinion and ring gear to block meshing of the pinion with the ring gear the solenoid contacts do not close and this is sensed by an electronic circuit connected to the solenoid contacts and to a start switch. When pinion block occurs the electronic circuit develops a signal which causes the solenoid to be deenergized and to be maintained deenergized until the start switch is opened. The electronic circuit includes means for preventing solenoid contact chatter by locking out energization of the solenoid coil if the solenoid contacts open after being closed due to, for example, low voltage.

    Abstract: A system for air conditioning and generating electrical power including a fuel-fired internal combustion engine, an electrical motor/generator, and a vapor compressor/expander all interconnected. The vapor compressor/expander driven by the engine operates in one mode with an evaporator and a condenser in a generally conventional refrigeration cycle. In an alternative mode, the vapor compressor/expander is operated in reverse by refrigerant boiled in the evaporator by the rejected heat of the engine and condensed in the condenser and contributes mechanical power to that of the engine to drive the motor/generator. The motor/generator can be supplied external electrical energy to operate as a motor to drive the compressor/expander during periods of non-operation of the engine.

    Abstract: An electronic starting motor control system for electric starting apparatus of a type that has a solenoid including a solenoid coil. Energization of the solenoid coil causes solenoid contacts to close and causes a pinion to be shifted into mesh with the ring gear of an engine to be cranked. The current supply to the solenoid coil is controlled by a plurality of parallel connected field effect transistors that are turned on and off. The system has a fail safe circuit which operates to cause the wire bonds of the field effect transistors to open in the event that a field effect transistor fails by shorting. The system has an overvoltage protection circuit which during an overvoltage condition shuts off the supply of voltage to the gates of the transistors and shuts off the voltage supply to a plurality of control circuits that are coupled to the gates of the transistors.

It is comprised of a gas turbine mounted on the frame adjacent to the diesel engine, a high speed alternator connected directly with the turbine and a series of rectifiers connected at the output of the high speed alternator. The alternator and rectifiers form a high speed electric generator. A load control means connected at the output of the alternator is provided for controlling the output power thereof. The high speed generator is connected in parallel with the main traction generator such that the traction motors can be supplied with extra electrical power when required.

The armature rotary shaft may have a polygonal cross-sectional outer configuration so that the armature core can be firmly press-fit onto polygonal armature rotary shaft. A method for concurrently brazing and magnetically annealing the armature core comprises heating the armature assembly between 780.degree. C. and 850.degree. C.

    Abstract: An elevator self-diagnostic system monitors the operative status of various elevator components and upon sensing an error initiates action to bring the elevator car to a safe operating state. The system then logs the error. The diagnostic system then analyzes the error and the conditions prevailing at the time the error occurred and, if necessary, a corrective action is then taken to resolve the error. This allows the elevator system to be brought back into service more quickly than would otherwise be possible. Specifically, a number of tests are serially performed on various elevator components, such as the motor drive, the position sensors, etc. When an error, or fault, arises in a system component, a selt-diagnostic system logs a preselected error level which has been assigned to the particular fault. A preselected action is then taken according to the particular error.

    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for improving the command performance of distance controlled positioning drives, as well as the positioning performance in the region of the destination, responds to different interferences, such as changing load and friction conditions, which act from travel to travel on the positioning drive. A distance control is periodically optimized to a constant set of standardized operating parameters and the position errors caused by interferences are eliminated during every travel. The control is a cascade control with fourfold forward correction by direct bias of the generated desired values of the jerk, the acceleration, and the velocity. A distinction is made between predictable deterministic interferences and not predictable stochastic interferences. Deterministic interferences are detected quantitatively by a start up test during the first phase of jerk in a measuring means.
