  • Patent number: 9491300
Abstract: A system having one or more processors and a memory receives both speech data from first and second participants of a session. The system outputs the speech of the first participant. The system outputs the speech of the second participant concurrent with the speech of the first participant when the length of time of the speech data of the first participant is more than a predetermined threshold amount. The system outputs the speech data of the second participant in accordance with an adjustment of the speech of one or more participants of the session that includes delaying output of the speech data of the second participant until after the speech data of the first participant has been outputted when the length of time of the speech data of the first participant is less than the predetermined threshold amount.

  • Patent number: 9451643
Abstract: Embodiments are provided for a mechanism for supporting multiple 3GPP Packet Data Network (PDN) connections over a WLAN. Multiple gateway interfaces, each corresponding to a different PDN, are established over a single connection, via the WLAN, between a UE and an access gateway. A PDN access configuration protocol (PACP) is provided to configure the association between the IP interface on the access gateway and the corresponding 3GPP PDN/APN connection, and exchange the PDN setup between the UE and the access gateway. The PACP mechanisms allow signaling APN information and associating corresponding IP context at the access gateway, setting up and tearing down connection context between the UE and PDN gateway (P-GW), and supporting session continuity when the UE moves to another access gateway. The mechanisms support using Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) for IPv4 and Neighbor Discovery for IPv6.

  • Patent number: 9451554
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system for allocating uplink air interface resources in a manner that allows particular user equipment devices (UEs) to apply less attenuation than may be specified more generally for UEs served by a base station of a wireless service provider. The base station may operate on a carrier band, serving UEs that are subscribers of the wireless service provider as well as UEs roaming in the base station's coverage area from another service provider. To avoid uplink transmission power leakage across the edges of the carrier band, the base station may broadcast a message to all the UEs notifying them to attenuate their respective transmission levels. The base station may allocate uplink air interface resources to subscribing UEs from a particular portion of the carrier band that allows them to transmit using less attenuation than roaming UEs and still avoid power leakage across the band edges.

  • Patent number: 9432266
Abstract: Communication networks and methods are disclosed for performing Quality of Service (QoS) throttling for mobile devices. One embodiment comprises a network element that serves a mobile device for data services. The network element includes a control system that monitors usage of the mobile device that is accessing the data services. The network element further includes a policy system that identifies that the usage of the mobile device reaches a usage threshold, and determines a reduced QoS responsive to reaching the usage threshold. The control system then downgrades the QoS provided to the mobile device for data services based on the reduced QoS. The policy system may further send a notification to the mobile device that the QoS is reduced.

  • Patent number: 9426672
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for network-based detection and mitigation of hybrid client device reception outage events. For example, in one embodiment, a cellular device uses a single-radio solution to support circuit-switched calls on a CDMA 1X network and packet-switched calls on LTE. Periodically, the cellular device tunes away from LTE and monitors CDMA 1X activity, and vice versa. During these tuned-away periods, the network adjusts operation to mitigate adverse effects (e.g., underutilization of radio resources, synchronization loss, etc.).

  • Patent number: 9402202
Abstract: Provided is a terminal device that is capable of improving the characteristics of a response signal having poor transmission characteristics when ARQ is utilized in communication using an uplink unit band and a plurality of downlink unit bands associated with the uplink unit band. At the time of channel selection, a control unit (208) selects a resource used in sending a response signal from among specific PUCCH resources notified in advance from a base station (100) and PUCCH resources mapped to a CCE, and controls the transmission of the response signal. A response signal generating unit (212) supports implicit signaling with respect to any given response signal, and at the same time as supporting LTE fallback from 2CC, uses a mapping method that, between bits, smooths the number of PUCCH resources that can determine ACK/NACK simply by determining the PUCCH resource regarding which the response signal had notified.

  • Patent number: 9397800
Abstract: A duplexing method is provided that combines aspects of Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) and Time Division Duplex (TDD) methods in a network, such as a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. The duplexing method may be implemented on an existing FDD network by replacing the FDD uplink (UL)-only radio frame with a full TDD radio frame having dynamically allocable UL and downlink (DL) sub-frames. Alternatively, the duplexing method may be implemented on an existing TDD network by adding a second frequency to pair with an existing frequency over which a FDD DL-only radio frame can be run.
