  • Patent number: 5379887
Abstract: A method and system comprising a sewing machine spare parts kit having a base comprising a plurality of compartments and a lid which, in one embodiment of the invention, is hingeably secured to the base. The kit also comprises a plurality of order record forms. The order record form has a plurality of record areas with indicia of part number, part name, and order quantity. The plurality of record areas are arranged in the same order that the spare parts are arranged in the kit. The order record members and kit facilitate identifying the spare parts which are housed in the kit as well as the quantity of spare parts to be maintained in each compartment of the kit. The order record form may be provided in the form of a postcard or alternatively, it may be provided in full scale such that it replicates in full scale the compartments in the kit, thereby making it easy for a service technician to reference, identify, order and use the spare parts in the kit.

  • Patent number: 5377831
Abstract: Core or tube plugs protect ends of hollow cores (around which material is wrapped) during transport when a plurality of such wrapped cores is assembled for shipment. Assemblies of a plurality of rolls of such wrapped cores are prepared by inserting a hollow tube through the plurality of wrapped cores and sealing the ends of such cores and tubes with plugs specially designed for that purpose. Each plug has a substantially rotation-symmetrical body with a plurality of axially-sequential segments, one of which at least substantially fills and protects an end of the hollow core and another of which at least substantially fills an end of the hollow tube (which passes through a plurality of hollow cores). One plug at each end of a assembly of wrapped cores secures the assembly together over the tube passing through the wrapped cores.

  • Patent number: 5377821
Abstract: An apparatus for displaying merchandise. The apparatus comprises a carton having a bottom and first and second adjacent sides. The first side defines a hole. The apparatus further comprises an arm having a hinge edge and a mutually exclusive periphery edge, the hinge edge is hingedly connected to the first side. The arm has a packing position and an operable position and is movable from the packing position to the operable position. When in the packing position, the arm is positioned within the hole, and the periphery edge is connected to the first side in intermittent intervals thereby forming a perforation between the arm and the first side. When in the operating position, the arm is substantially parallel to the first side and substantially perpendicular to the second side, thereby projecting from the carton. Sill further, the arm has first and second portions. The first and second portions are hingedly connected along a fold line.

  • Patent number: 5375718
Abstract: A package consisting in an article packaged by a packaging film exhibiting heat shrinkability is disclosed. The packaging film has its wrapping terminal end formed with a protuberant tearing tab, and a severing tape is bonded to the inner surface of the film for extending from the distal end of the tearing tab along the entire length of the film along the article wrapping direction. The severing tape has a width lesser than the width of the tearing tab and is formed of a material having heat shrinkage percentage lower than that of the film. The tearing tab has its distal end reduced in width for reducing the allowance for heat fusion. For reducing the allowance for heat fusion, the distal end of the tearing tab is semi-circular in contour. The distal end of the severing tape substantially in register with the center sealing region of the film is designed as a non-fusing region to facilitate the exfoliation of the severing tape.

  • Patent number: 5375713
Abstract: A packed electric lamp including a carton having three articulated sides defining a sleeve of triangular cross-section with opposing open ends and two opposing triangular flaps closing the open ends of the triangular sleeve. A reflector lamp having a broad face and a tapered reflector body is arranged in the carton with its broad face extending along one of the three sides defining the triangular sleeve, the other two carton sides defining the triangular sleeve extending along the tapered body and terminating at a corner of the sleeve adjacent the distal end of the reflector body. The carton has a significantly smaller plan form than rectangular or square cuboidal cartons, allowing more lamps to fit in a given space on retail shelves. The carton is formed from a unitary blank having three rectangular panels joined at fold lines and first and second opposing primary triangular flaps articulated from respective ones of the rectangular panels.

  • Patent number: 5375703
Abstract: An apparatus for recycling liquids, such as, for example, used motor oil. For example, an outer container, such as a five gallon plastic container, is provided which contains unused oil. A pump can be used to pump out the unused oil for use. This leaves a liquid void in the container. A collapsible bag is contained within the container and has an external opening. Used oil may then be poured into the collapsible bag replacing the liquid void left when the unused oil was pumped out, but not contaminating the unused oil. When all of the unused oil has been pumped out, the contained with the bag of used oil can be recycled. Alternatively, other liquids can be recycled. Also, the collapsible bag can contain the unused oil.
