  • Patent number: 11758364
Abstract: A mobile device can include ranging circuitry to determine distance to another mobile device. Ranging between multiple mobile devices can present challenges due to clock drift between the devices resulting in missed messages due to collisions between ranging messages. Techniques can be implemented to reduce the number of collisions by designating time slots for ranging sessions based on timing from a coordinator mobile device. Alternative techniques allow for splitting up channels at different time amount different pairs of devices. The ranging techniques can be used to share information between devices with a predefined distance for applications such as augmented reality.

  • Patent number: 11736903
Abstract: Techniques are described for obtaining current location data for a non-traditional telephony endpoint for emergency calling purposes. An emergency services (ES) provider receives, from a telephony server responding to a telecommunication session establishment request from a telephony endpoint, a location registration request, the location registration request including telephony endpoint identification information and a mobile device telephone number. The ES provider may send a short message service (SMS) message to the mobile device telephone number, the SMS message including an executable registration link that when executed on a mobile device receiving the SMS message causes the mobile device to retrieve location data of the mobile device. The ES provider may then receive the current location data from the mobile device and store it and the telephony endpoint identification information for subsequent use should a 911 call be made from that telephony endpoint.

  • Patent number: 11641564
Abstract: A wireless device sends, to an access and mobility management function (AMF) via an access network, a first registration request message comprising a first geographical coordinate of a first geographical location. The wireless device receives a registration accept message comprising a radius value from the AMF. The wireless device moves to a second geographical location. The wireless device determines that a distance between the first geographical coordinate and a second geographical coordinate of the second geographical location is larger than the radius value. In response to the determination, the wireless device sends a second registration request message comprising the second geographical coordinate.

  • Patent number: 11606735
Abstract: The invention relates to the initiation of a service to a mobile terminal capable of communicating via at least a first and second access network. Further, the invention relates to a reduction of power consumption of mobile terminals supporting connectivity to at least two access networks. The invention also relates to mobile communication systems and in particular to mobile communications through heterogeneous access networks. In order to prove improved method for initiating services to mobile terminals and/or to reduce power consumption of mobile terminals, the invention introduces of a sleep state that can be entered by the terminal for an access system if same is not used.
