Abstract: Upon reception of ACK via a communication IF, an allocator allocates a channel of a repeater to be controlled to communications between wireless terminals. A determination unit determines whether channels allocatable to the communications between the wireless terminals are short. When the determination unit has determined that the allocatable channels are short, a switching controller controls at least one repeater, among repeaters to be controlled by a repeater controller, that serves as a controlling repeater to cause the repeater to transmit, to a wireless terminal standing by in the channel of the repeater, a switching signal designating standby in a channel of a repeater that is controlled by another repeater controller.
Abstract: Presented herein are techniques for using mobile client density to compensate for variations in path loss between neighboring access points. In one example, a device (e.g., wireless controller) determines one or more mobile client density variation trends in a wireless network location and determines one or more neighbor message power variation trends between at least first and second access points within the wireless network location. The device generates one or more correlation bias factors using the mobile client density variation trends and the neighbor message power variation trends. The device determines a path loss between at least the first and second access points based on the correlation bias factor and data associated with neighbor messages sent between the first and second access points.

Abstract: A power recovery technique for a data storage device having a non-volatile memory and a control unit is shown. The non-volatile memory is programmed using one-shot programming, wherein N pages are programmed in one round of one-shot programming and N is a number greater than one. A control unit corrects the final page indicator of an active block of the non-volatile memory in a power recovery procedure to cope with a sudden power-off event, to point the final page indicator to a final page among N pages of one round of one-shot programming.
Abstract: A power recovery technique for a data storage device having a non-volatile memory and a control unit is provided. When the data storage device regains power, the control unit writes dummy data to the nonvolatile memory, starting from the next page of a final page indicated by a final page indicator until the first word line group is finished. The first word line group contains an empty page indicated by an empty page indicator. In this manner, user data is protected from being written to an unreliable area.

Abstract: In a multi-track magnetic tape recorder/player of the type used for data storage and retrieval, with at least one read head and one write head, both being displaceable laterally relative to the direction of tape travel, and a memory to store values representative of those lateral displacements with respect to a reference position, a method for exact positioning of the read head onto previously written data tracks. In the preferred method, the write head is used to record (or erase) a longitudinal stripe along the tape, and the read head is used to find one or more edges of the stripe relative to a reference position. The displacements used to write the stripes and the displacements associated with the edges are compared to generate an offset correction factor used for subsequent head positioning.
Abstract: A servo address is encoded in a disk drive system having at least one disk for storing data. A servo address associated with a sector in a track, or cylinder, on a surface of a disk and comprised of a sector number, a track number, and in multiple disk systems, a head number is encoded into the encoded servo address. Encoding the servo address saves disk storage space because the encoded servo address uses fewer bits than a conventional servo address while still enabling the disk drive system to locate positions on the disk.

Abstract: In a disk medium, as servo patterns for offset detection, a pattern which is offset to the inner side, a pattern which is offset to the outer side, and a polarity pattern of a size exceeding a width of pattern as necessary are recorded in the track direction at specific cylinder positions of each data surface. In the case where only one of the read signals of the patterns which are offset to the inner side and outer side is obtained, the head is returned in such a direction as to eliminate the offset, and an offset measuring section measures the offset again. In this case, the offset measurement value is set to the total value of the head return amount and the last offset amount obtained from the read signals V1 and V2. When both of the two pattern read signals V1 and V2 are not obtained, the presence or absence of the read signal of the polarity pattern is judged.
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to rotate a head with high precision along a predetermined rotation locus in a rotary drum apparatus for recording and/or reproducing predetermined signals on a tape recording medium. A locus of the head on the rotary drum connected to the first rotary shaft can be adjusted to coincide with the predetermined locus by dividing the rotary shaft into two shafts, and adjusting the two shafts with an adjustment mechanism. The adjustment mechanism can be in the form of threaded screws or electrical actuators. Sensors can be provided for measuring the horizontal degree and vertical degree of the rotary shaft holding material supporting the first rotary shaft for adjusting the two shafts using electrical actuators based on the measured results.

The scaling circuit adds a voltage to the park voltage so that any voltage loses in the voice coil motor are compensated for.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting peaks in a signal which comprises an alternating polarity waveform including a plurality of points. A selected point in the signal is designated. Thereafter, a threshold value for the selected point is established utilizing a prior threshold value associated set off with spaces with a point prior to the selected point as follows:(m(n)=t0*ax(n)+t1*m(n-1)wherein n is the point identifier, m(n) is the threshold value, t0 is a fixed positive constant less than one, t1 is a fixed positive constant less than one, ax(n) is the absolute value of the input signal, and m(n-1) is the prior threshold value for the prior point. In this manner the threshold value may be adjusted for fluctuations in amplitude of the signal. Next, the selected point is compared with the threshold value to determine whether or not the selected point is within a predetermined distance of the threshold.

Abstract: A head records a track (e.g. a servo track) in a memory member outside of a clean room without using reference indices. In each of a plurality of cyclical movements (e.g. revolutions), signals (e.g. servo signals) are recorded in the track in an individual number of frames. Thereafter the distance of the unrecorded portion of the track is determined. In the next cyclical movement, the head records signals in an individual number of frames contiguous to the frames previously recorded, in a track distance dependent upon such individual number relative to the number of frames still unrecorded and upon the distance determined for the unrecorded track portion. In a last cyclical movement, the head records a single frame in a particular spatial relationship with the first and last frames. In a specific embodiment, 2.sup.N-K frames may be recorded in the K cyclical movement. Additional signals may thereafter be recorded by the head in tracks in a single cyclical movement.
Abstract: If information is to be recorded on and reproduced from a recording medium in correspondence between a code train in the form of a run-length-limited code and the positions of the leading edge and the trailing edge data of a status transition pattern such as pits, recording domains, a sync signal is inserted at regular intervals in the information converted in the form of the run-length-limited code. The sync signal is constituted by a code train capable of deciding that the sync signal includes a code not existing in the conversion rule into a run-length-limited code during reproduction using a leading edge data or trailing edge data relative to the transition pattern.
