Abstract: Computers for supporting multiple virtual reality (VR) display devices and related methods are described herein. An example computer includes a graphics processing unit (GPU) to render frames for a first VR display device and a second VR display device, a memory to store frames rendered by the GPU for the first VR display device and the second VR display device, and a vertical synchronization (VSYNC) scheduler to transmit alternating first and second VSYNC signals to the GPU such that a time period between each of the first or second VSYNC signals and a subsequent one of the first or second VSYNC signals is substantially the same. The GPU is to, based on the first and second VSYNC signals, alternate between rendering a frame for the first VR display device and a frame for the second VR display device.

  • Patent number: 11615581
Abstract: In some aspects, the disclosure is directed to methods and systems for a dynamic, reconfigurable virtual reality environment with in-environment access to external data and resources. Implementations of these systems also provide an external mechanism for modifying other aspects of the virtual reality experience with no need to recode or compile the experience. This can alter the primary flow of the experience, change its behavior based on the specific user accessing it and add branded or customer-specific aspects to the application. The same level or environment can provide drastically different experiences for various users from beginners through experts, even allowing the option of random or ordered events, controllable by an instructor or administrator, through simple configuration.

  • Patent number: 11594194
Abstract: A display system supports variable refresh rates that include a plurality of refresh rates. A source such as a graphics processing unit (GPU) provides frames to the display system at a selected one of the refresh rates. The refresh rates are factored into a corresponding plurality of prime factors. A plurality of numbers of lines per frame in frames provided at the plurality of refresh rates is determined based on one or more ratios of the plurality of refresh rates, the plurality of prime factors, and a line rate for providing frames to the display system at the plurality of refresh rates. The source then selectively provides frames to the display system at one refresh rate of the plurality of refresh rates using the same line rate regardless of which refresh rate is chosen. Furthermore, the number of lines per frame is an integer for frames provided at the refresh rates.

  • Patent number: 11562541
Abstract: A method for real-time dynamic 4D reconstruction can include detecting one or more topology changes between reconstructed frames and a new incoming frame by detecting a set of discontinuities in a first surface mesh associated with the reconstructed frames; duplicating cells of a first volumetric cell structure associated with the reconstructed frames at the set of discontinuities to generate a set of nodes, the set of nodes having a non-manifold connectivity; and fusing a depth image of the new incoming frame with the first volumetric cell structure having the set of nodes to form a next volumetric cell structure with the non-manifold connectivity. A next surface mesh extracted from the next volumetric cell structure can then be output for rendering a live frame.
