  • Patent number: 9935045
Abstract: A semiconductor device has a first semiconductor die with a base material. A covering layer is formed over a surface of the base material. The covering layer can be made of an insulating material or metal. A trench is formed in the surface of the base material. The covering layer extends into the trench to provide the cantilevered protrusion of the covering layer. A portion of the base material is removed by plasma etching to form a cantilevered protrusion extending beyond an edge of the base material. The cantilevered protrusion can be formed by removing the base material to the covering layer, or the cantilevered protrusion can be formed within the base material under the covering layer. A second semiconductor die is disposed partially under the cantilevered protrusion. An interconnect structure is formed between the cantilevered protrusion and second semiconductor die.

  • Patent number: 9934465
Abstract: Techniques for analyzing and synthesizing complex knowledge representations (KRs) may utilize an atomic knowledge representation model including both an elemental data structure and knowledge processing rules stored as machine-readable data and/or programming instructions. One or more of the knowledge processing rules may be applied to analyze an input complex KR to deconstruct its complex concepts and/or concept relationships to elemental concepts and/or concept relationships to be included in the elemental data structure. One or more of the knowledge processing rules may be applied to synthesize an output complex KR from the stored elemental data structure in accordance with an input context. Multiple input complex KRs of various types may be analyzed and deconstructed to populate the elemental data structure, and input complex KRs may be transformed through the elemental data structure to output complex KRs of different types, providing semantic interoperability to KRs of different types and/or KR models.

  • Patent number: 9934149
Abstract: Systems and methods relate to servicing a demand miss for a cache line in a first cache (e.g., an L1 cache) of a processing system, for example, when none of one or more fill buffers for servicing the demand miss are available. In exemplary aspects, the demand miss is converted to a prefetch operation to prefetch the cache line into a second cache (e.g., an L2 cache), wherein the second cache is a backing storage location for the first cache. Thus, servicing the demand miss is not delayed until a fill buffer becomes available, and once a fill buffer becomes available, the prefetched cache line is returned from the second cache to the available fill buffer.
