  • Publication number: 20240081358
Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate generally to plant extract compositions and methods to isolate cutin-derived monomers, oligomers, and mixtures thereof for application in agricultural coating formulations, and in particular, to methods of preparing plant extract compositions that include functionalized and non-functionalized fatty acids and fatty esters (as well as their oligomers and mixtures thereof), which are substantially free from accompanying plant-derived compounds (e.g., proteins, polysaccharides, phenols, lignans, aromatic acids, terpenoids, flavonoids, carotenoids, alkaloids, alcohols, alkanes, and aldehydes) and can be used in agricultural coating formulations.

  • Publication number: 20240052777
Abstract: An internal combustion engines keeps the pistons at or near the Top Dead Center (TDC) for the whole time or most of the time that fuel is burning or while fuel is injected into the engine. A scotch yoke embodiment includes a curved slot to extend the piston's time at TDC. A second embodiment includes a cam on the crankshaft and a follower. The shape of the cam extends the piston's time at TDC.

  • Patent number: 11772487
Abstract: A rear drive axle assembly includes fixedly attaching right and left axles to right and left rear wheels. Inner ends of the axles residing in a tube and reach in to almost a center of the vehicle, and extend out through self-aligning, pillow block bearings. Sprockets are attached to the axles between outer ends of the tube and the pillow block bearings. Negligible friction between the axles and tube is the only rotational coupling of the axles. The Rigid Tube provides concentricity between the two axles, provides perpendicularity of the drive wheels to the road surface and performs the function of a sleeve bearing.

  • Patent number: 10738562
Abstract: A lipless tubular oil seal assembly uses a tubular type of seal. The new seals create only enough pressure against the casing to provide an adequate seal under most conditions and the small amount of oil that would leak by on the roughest well casing surfaces acts as a lubricant. The new seal has no lip so it cannot turn under and get stuck in the well casing like a cup seal, even under the roughest conditions.

  • Publication number: 20200108661
Abstract: A rear axle system keeps rear wheels turning on the same axis when they are fixedly attached to the axles. One embodiment of the present invention fixedly attaches an axle to each rear wheel. Each of the axles extend through a self aligning, pillow block bearing to almost the center of the vehicle. The bearings are mounted to the outer portion of the frame on each side and there is a tube that encases the two axles. The inner diameter of the tube is large enough to allow the two axles to turn with respect to each other but small enough to keep the two axles turning on the same axis. When the vehicle is traveling in a straight line, the tube is turning with the axles. When the vehicle is turning, there is little difference in speed and no requirement for bearings between the axles and the rigid tube.

  • Publication number: 20200101954
Abstract: A simple and inexpensive power brake system for a three-wheel vehicle with two wheels in the rear. One embodiment of the present invention allows the backing plate of a drum brake to rotate about twenty degrees on the axle of the front wheel that is attached to a brake drum, or a backing plate of a caliper of a disk brake to rotate about twenty degrees on the axle of the front wheel that is attached to a brake disk. Rotation of the backing plate is coupled to actuate the rear brake(s).

  • Patent number: 10287971
Abstract: An opposed piston engine includes approximately spherical combustion chamber formed by the two opposed pistons in a single cylinder and an intake manifold including gas hooks. The combustion chamber has a small cone shaped extension on each side leading to each of two opposed injectors located in the cylinder wall where the two pistons meet at the top of their stroke. The combustion chamber configuration reduces the surface area of the chamber and increases the burn length by a significant amount compared to known designs. The gas hooks in the intake manifold restrict the flow of exhaust gases into the intake manifold long enough for the pressure in the cylinder to blow down and the exhaust gasses to attain high velocity passing out through the exhaust manifold, allowing the intake ports to be uncovered before the exhaust ports.

  • Patent number: 10180851
Abstract: In one implementation, an original physical profile file and a configuration baseline are stored for a virtual machine. The physical profile file includes physical characteristics of a physical device running the virtual machine. The configuration baseline includes configuration settings or attributes of the instance of the virtual machine. A network device detects current value for at least one physical characteristic and compares the current value to the original physical profile file. When the current values deviate enough from the original physical profile file to exceed a threshold amount of deviation that is permissible, the network device determines that the virtual machine has been moved to another physical device. In response, the network device monitors current configuration settings or attributes with respect to the configuration baseline in order to detect an unauthorized usage of the virtual machine.

  • Patent number: 9025437
Abstract: Grouping pseudowires based on hardware interfaces and configured control paths enables improved pseudowire failover performance. Signaling status changes (e.g., from standby to active status) is facilitated by using group IDs for the pseudowire groups, thereby enabling improved failover performance when there is disruption in the network.

  • Patent number: 8608602
Abstract: An improved belt clutch engages to couple one shaft to at least one other shaft and disengaged to decouple the shafts. Known belt clutches fail to smoothly and completely disengage the belt from traction pulleys on the shafts and drag results. The improved belt clutch includes rollers outlining the engaged belt and constrain the disengaged belt to smoothly and completely disengage the belt from the traction pulleys. The new improved belt clutch provides, among other things, higher efficiency when driven in either direction and smoother operation when engaged or disengaged at high speed than prior art belt clutches.

  • Patent number: 8374760
Abstract: Apparatus and method for efficiently controlling an automatic transmission in an electric vehicle. The method may be implemented by selection of one of at least two belt clutches having different ratios. The timing for disengagement and engagement of each clutch and the proper sequencing of the disengagement and engagement of the clutches is determined to optimize the efficiency of the transmission. A direct drive motor is directly coupled to the transmission's output shaft to provide momentary power to maintain a nearly constant rate of acceleration during shifting. The method may further be applied for shifting an electric vehicle with a first motor coupled to an output shaft through a single belt clutch and a direct drive motor.
