  • Patent number: 10500972
Abstract: In a permanent magnet synchronous motor drive system, phase currents can be used to calculate a current that produces no shaft torque and only motor losses and a current that only produces shaft torque. These currents can be controlled to be resupplied into the motor drive system to a desired amount on a continuous basis to maintain a DC energy storage device voltage at a desired safe level. The calculated currents are resupplied to the motor drive system such that voltage levels within the DC energy storage device that approach a voltage maximum limit are transferred to the motor in the form of current that is dissipated by the motor without losing efficiency and control of driving a load with the motor.

  • Patent number: 10500047
Abstract: Representative embodiments of methods, apparatus, and systems used to deliver a prosthetic heart valve to a deficient valve are disclosed. In one embodiment, for instance, a support structure and an expandable prosthetic valve are delivered to a position on or adjacent to the surface of the outflow side of the aortic valve (the support structure defining a support-structure interior) via a delivery system. The expandable prosthetic valve is delivered into the aortic valve and into the support-structure interior. The expandable, prosthetic heart valve is expanded while the expandable prosthetic heart valve is in the support-structure interior and while the support structure is at the position on or adjacent to the surface of the outflow side of the aortic valve, thereby causing one or more native leaflets of the aortic valve to be frictionally secured between the support structure and the expanded prosthetic heart valve.

  • Patent number: 10505648
Abstract: A method of estimating a location of an interference signal source includes using a first antenna configured to receive a signal from the interference signal source and using a second antenna arranged proximate to the first antenna and configured to receive global positioning system (GPS) signals. An initial trend in variation in power of a received signal from the interference signal source is determined relative to a position of the second antenna, wherein upon determining the initial trend, the initial trend is a current trend. In an iterative manner, the second antenna is directed to be repositioned. A secondary area associated with a lack of power measurement outside of an area traveled is identified and a further repositioning of the second antenna is determined to reduce the secondary area. An estimate of the location of the interference signal source is then determined.

  • Patent number: 10499633
Abstract: A remote notification electronic rodent trapping system and method is provided having a plurality of rearming electronic rodent trapping devices configured to wirelessly communicate trap information to a base station that is in communication with a cloud server. When a trap is activated by a rodent trigger it changes from a set state to a kill alert state and initiates a killing cycle. The trap waits a first time period and then sends a notification signal to the base station of trap activation which the base station forwards to the cloud server. The cloud server waits a second predetermined time period before sending a pushed notification to a remote user of the trap's kill alert state. If the trap rearms prior to expiration of the second time period, it alerts the base station which notifies the cloud server. The cloud server updates trap status to the set state and does not send a notification to the user.

  • Patent number: 10506026
Abstract: A service management system prepares computing resources for use before a client requests the resource. For example, a service management system of a provider may restore an operating system image to a volume. The service management may then assign a processing resource to the volume to form a virtual machine. The service management system may cause the processing resource to finish preparation of the operating system on the volume. The service management system may disconnect the resulting staged volume from the processing resource. The staged volume may remain active in the low-latency data store and be added to a list of available staged volumes having the operating system. When a client requests a virtual machine having an operating system, the service management system may determine that the client receives the staged volume as part of the virtual machine to avoid the start-up costs of preparing a volume.

  • Patent number: 10502186
Abstract: Methods and systems for controlling a wind turbine in a manner that takes into account the degree of loading of and damage to one or more components of the turbine are provided. An operational load on a wind turbine part is determined, and is used to compute a damage signal. The damage signal is indicative of the potential damage to the component or to the turbine as a whole that will result if action is not taken to reduce or mitigate the determined load. When the damage signal exceeds a pre-determined threshold, load-reducing wind turbine control means are activated to obviate the estimated damage.

  • Patent number: 10504513
Abstract: A dock device connects participating devices such as a tablet device and an audio activated device, allowing them to operate as a single device. These participating devices may be associated with different accounts, each account being associated with particular “speechlets” or data processing functions. A natural language understanding (NLU) system uses NLU models to process text obtained from an automatic speech recognition (ASR) system to determine a set of possible intents. A second set of possible intents may then be generated that is limited to those possible intents that correspond to the speechlets associated with the docked device. The intents within the second set of possible intents are ranked, and the highest ranked intent may be deemed to be the intent of the user. Command data corresponding to the highest ranked intent may be generated and used to perform the action associated with that intent.

  • Patent number: 10503730
Abstract: Systems and methods that permit the querying of encrypted data in a cryptographically-secure manner. Generally, data that has been encrypted cannot be queried using plaintext terms because it is in ciphertext. Accordingly, use of filters that correspond to the encrypted data and are generated by multiple parties permits querying of the data without decrypting the data or compromising the security of the encrypted data or of the queries against that data.

  • Patent number: 10505525
Abstract: An oscillator circuit (100) comprises a first tank circuit (T1) comprising an inductive element (L) and a capacitive element (C) coupled in series between a first voltage rail (14) and a first drive node (12). A feedback stage (F) is coupled to a first tank output (13) of the first tank circuit (T1) and to the first drive node (12). The feedback stage (F) is arranged to generate, responsive to a first oscillating tank voltage present at the first tank output (13), a first oscillating drive signal at the first drive node (12) in-phase with a first oscillating tank current flowing in the inductive element (L) and the capacitive element (C), thereby causing the oscillator (100) to oscillate in a series resonance mode of the inductive element (L) and the capacitive element (C).

  • Patent number: 10505451
Abstract: A system and method are provided for controlling a modified buck converter circuit. A pull-up switching mechanism that is coupled to an upstream terminal of an inductor within a modified buck converter circuit is enabled. A load current at the output of the modified buck regulator circuit is measured. A capacitor current associated with a capacitor that is coupled to a downstream terminal of the inductor is continuously sensed and the pull-up switching mechanism is disabled when the capacitor current is greater than a sum of the load current and an enabling current value.

  • Patent number: 10502895
Abstract: A low loss high extinction ratio on-chip polarizer. The polarizer includes an input waveguide taper having an outer waveguiding region that widens in the direction of light propagation along at least a portion of the taper length, and a core waveguiding region that narrows in the direction of light propagation along at least a portion of the taper length, so as to selectively squeeze out light of undesired modes into the outer regions while preserving light of a desired mode in the waveguide core. An output filter section is provided to prevent light from reentering the output waveguide after being squeezed out. An integrated light absorber/deflector may be coupled to the outer waveguiding regions.
