  • Patent number: 5292000
Abstract: A holder for packaging a biological specimen slide is heat formed from a single sheet of plastic, with tray and cover portions foldable to a closed condition along a hinge line. A window opening in the cover portion allows viewing of identification markings on a slide in the closed holder. The window is initially closed by an integrally formed push-out panel which is removed upon use of the holder as a flag of previous usage of the holder to prevent its unintentional reuse.

  • Patent number: 5176257
Abstract: A package for a medical specimen slide is constructed of a sheet including side panels and end panels joined to a central base portion, with latching portions for holding all the panels in a packaged condition, and a specimen slide is inserted through two rectangular openings and under a retaining band for holding the slide against the base portion. The openings are dimensioned for easy insertion and secure holding of the slide and the package is sized so that the slide holds the end and side panels spaced away from the specimen on the slide.

  • Patent number: 5147042
Abstract: A holder for packaging a biological specimen slide is heat formed from a single sheet of plastic. The holder has tray and cover portions separated by a hinge line, and when folded along the hinge line the cover closes a slide receiving recess on the tray portion. Integrally molded spacer elements positvely hold the slide to avoid smearing of the specimen. A window opening in the cover portion allows viewing of identification markings on one portion of the slide. An internal partition on the cover portion isolates the specimen bearing portion of the slide from exposure to the exterior environment through the window.

  • Patent number: 5102234
Abstract: A medical specimen bag is made of three or more overlying sheets of clear pliable plastic material joined along three common edges to make at least two separate pockets open along a fourth edge of the sheets. One of the sheets includes an adhesive flap foldable against the exposed fourth edges of the remaining sheets for sealing all the pockets. The sealed end of the bag is torn off to regain access to all pockets.

  • Patent number: 5050735
Abstract: A specimen kit for collection, preservation and dispatch of smear specimens collected on a glass slide makes use of a single sheet of package material having short fold-over panels at opposite end edges and long fold-over overlapping panels at the side edges, in this way to form a relatively long flat package. Transversely extending lines of perforations make possible separating the long flat package into one relatively shorter reusable package with opposite end panels and a throw away sheet. One of the end panels of the shorter reusable package has a specially formed retainer for securing a transparent specimen slide in place. The panel is additionally provided with a window through which is revealed information pertaining to the specimen on the slide.

  • Patent number: 4976354
Abstract: A package for biological specimen slides made of an elongated sheet divided by a transverse crease line into a cover portion and a base portion. A tab at one end engages a slot near the opposite end for keeping the sheet folded along the crease line to cover a slide held between the base and cover by two slide retainers on the base portion. The cover is longer than the base and arches away from contact with a biological specimen on the slide. One slide retainer has a retaining strip defined between two openings in the base for holding one end of the slide inserted under the retaining strip and bridging the two openings. The second slide retainer has an opening defined in part by two oblique edges and a tab extending into the opening between the oblique edges, such that the opposite end of the slide can be inserted into the opening and engaged between the oblique edges and the tab.

  • Patent number: 4826003
Abstract: A vertical type kit for tubes containing laboratory specimens of a block of lightweight material of the character of polystyrene in which is molded an array of pockets of assorted sizes and depths for reception of an assortment of tubes, pipettes, fluid containers, and comparable laboratory articles. For those pockets adjacent the edge of the block there are slotted opernings which expose the interiors of the pockets and the contents of the pockets. A relatively deep cover fits snugly over the tops of the specimen tubes and when applied to the block leaves portions of the slotted openings exposed.

  • Patent number: 4819804
Abstract: A package for transporting a glass slide which carries a specimen for laboratory analysis makes use of a particularly light-weight yieldable material of the nature of Styrofoam. A thin base sheet of the material is provided with a rectangular recess slightly smaller than the glass slide and into which the slide may be pressed. Three edges of the base are each provided with a ridge leaving a fourth edge clear and a thin cover sheet of the same Styrofoam material fits snugly within the ridges where it is yieldably held in position covering the glass slide.
