  • Publication number: 20240389976
Abstract: Ultrasound systems and devices are provided that facilitate positioning and orientation of an ultrasound beam relative to the vasculature of the patient for the detection of Doppler signals from vessels and the determination of a hemodynamic measure. In some example embodiments, a support structure, such as a patch, is provided that supports one or more ultrasound transducers relative to a coupling component, the support structure being removably attachable to a skin surface of a subject. Control and processing circuitry is connectable to the one or more ultrasound transducers to generate ultrasound beams, receive ultrasound signals, and process the received ultrasound signals to provide a Doppler signal and determine an associated hemodynamic measure. In some example implementations, the example embodiments disclosed herein may be employed to determine a hemodynamic measure associated with blood flow with major and/or minor vessels of the pedal arch, such as a pedal acceleration time.

  • Publication number: 20240024657
Abstract: Described herein are improved blood pumping devices, including improved intra-aortic balloon pumps and ventricular assist devices. The pumping efficiency of either device may be improved with the use of one or more valves, counter pulsation balloons, non-compliant tubular structures, secondary pumping balloons, and similar components.

  • Publication number: 20230263949
Abstract: A variety of methods and devices for manipulating tissue using stents and shunts that foreshorten when expanded. Many of the devices have ends that expand radially more than a center portion of the device, creating an hourglass or rivet shape that is useful for anchoring the device or putting a squeezing force on the tissue.

  • Publication number: 20230042304
Abstract: Several embodiments and methods are described for draining a lymphatic system for therapeutic purposes. The lymphatic draining can be performed by removal of fluid from the lymphatic system via a needle, a catheter, an access port, a reservoir, a shunt, or a combination of these devices. The drainage devices can be configured for use during only a single procedure or for reoccurring procedures.

  • Publication number: 20220257221
Abstract: Low profile biopsy tools and methods that allow relatively large biopsy samples to be taken. The biopsy tools have a first configuration that allows for atraumatic navigation to a targeted lesion, and a second configuration in which a distal end of the biopsy tool expands to take a large tissue sample. The tissue sample may then be retracted into a sheath or other containment feature and removed at a reduced diameter. Also included is an anchored guidewire usable to practice method for navigating a biopsy tool to a targeted lesion after an endoscope has been removed.

  • Publication number: 20220142806
Abstract: Renal and urine collection system interventions are provided that improve kidney function by manipulating pressures and/or infusing therapeutic agents in the renal pelvis of the kidney or kidneys. Setting a vacuum and/or infusing therapeutic agents in the renal pelvis results in increased glomerular filtration rate, general solute clearance, and free water excretion via the kidney through the urinary tract and is useful for treatment of CHF, ADHF, AKI, CKD, and many other conditions characterized by fluid overload by reducing fluid buildup. The fluid drawn from the renal pelvis or pelvises is delivered to an external or implanted reservoir or to the bladder using flow manipulation mechanism such as one-way valves, occlusion balloons, multi-lumen catheters, and other mechanisms. Pumps are provided for use in establishing the vacuum pressures that are either manual or motorized.

  • Publication number: 20210401494
Abstract: Disclosed herein are devices and methods for creating a shunt between two vessels or lumens within a patient. While these devices and methods are generally described with regard to treatment of hypertension (e.g., pulmonary arterial hypertension) and/or right heart failure/disfunction, they can be used with a variety of different vessels and lumens for other purposes. The devices include puncturing guidewire embodiments that can more accurately pierce two vessels, as well as snare catheter designs that can prevent unwanted damage from a puncturing guidewire.
