  • Publication number: 20220007182
Abstract: Systems and methods of protecting an initial NAS message are described. The NAS message is encrypted using the home PLMN public key during initial registration with the network using a registration request message. An AMF of the serving PLMN sends a serving PLMN public key which is then used to encrypt information including an S-NSSAI of later initial NAS messages after initial registration is completed. The S-NSSAI may not be sent in the later initial NAS message if the S-NSSAI is provided at an access stratum level. The RRC message may contain an indication that the S-NSSAI is encrypted using the serving PLMN public key.

  • Patent number: 11197230
Abstract: Methods, systems, and storage media are provided for user equipment (UE) that supports enhanced coverage and may operate with a voice centric usage setting or a data centric usage setting. When the UE's usage setting is set to voice centric, the UE may not operate in coverage enhancement (CE) mode B. When the UE's usage setting is set to data centric, then the UE may operate in CE mode B. The UE may indicate the UE's usage setting in an Attach or Tracking Area Update (TAU) request message, and a mobility management entity (MME) may indicate to an evolved NodeB that CE mode B is restricted or not restricted based on the usage setting. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

  • Patent number: 10999330
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure describe methods, apparatuses, and systems for management of voice services for user equipments (UEs) in coverage enhancement (CE) mode B. A cellular protocol stack (CPS) of the UE may indicate to an internet protocol (IP) multimedia services (IMS) circuitry of the UE that the UE is operating in the CE mode B (or will be operating in the CE mode B when it awakes from idle mode). The IMS circuitry may receive an SIP invite from an IMS server to invite the UE to engage in a mobile terminated (MT) call. In response to the SIP invite, the IMS circuitry of the UE may reject the SIP invite and deregister the UE from voice services. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.

  • Publication number: 20210082123
Abstract: A method for segmentation of a 3-D medical image uses an adaptive patient-specific atlas and an appearance model for 3-D Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) data. For segmentation of a medical image of a retina, In order to reconstruct the 3-D patient-specific retinal atlas, a 2-D slice of the 3-D image containing the macula mid-area is segmented first. A 2-D shape prior is built using a series of co-aligned training OCT images. The shape prior is then adapted to the first order appearance and second order spatial interaction MGRF model of the image data to be segmented. Once the macula mid-area is segmented into separate retinal layers this initial slice, the segmented layers' labels and their appearances are used to segment the adjacent slices. This step is iterated until the complete 3-D medical image is segmented.

  • Publication number: 20200359350
Abstract: Devices, methods, use user equipment (UE), core network devices, evolved node B (eNB), and storage media for UE provisioning are described. In one embodiment, processing circuitry of a mobility management entity (MME) decodes a non-access stratum (NAS) message comprising a detach request associated with a first user equipment (UE) and determines that the detach request is received from the UE without integrity protection. The MME then analyzes one or more additional criteria associated with the detach request in response to confirmation that the detach request message is received from the UE without the integrity protection, and manages an evolved packet system (EPS) mobility management (EMM) registration state for the first UE based on analysis of the one or more additional criteria. Various different criteria and associated EMM registration state management operations are described. Additional corresponding UE operations are also described.

  • Patent number: 10764822
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) explicitly accounts for a coverage enhancement (CE or sometimes called enhanced coverage) feature in a public land mobile network (PLMN) search and/or selection. By explicitly using CE indicators in PLMN search and/or selection, a UE can determine whether to use a PLMN that may only be available in CE mode for voice services or data services, or fail to meet criteria, such as high data rate, that cannot be provided in CE mode. For example a UE can use the PLMN search and/or selection with (1) automatic PLMN selection at switch-on or recovery from lack of coverage, (2) higher priority PLMN selection, (3) manual PLMN selection, and/or (4) limited service capabilities while in CE mode.

  • Publication number: 20200203001
Abstract: Methods for segmenting medical images from different modalities include integrating a plurality of types of quantitative image descriptors with a deep 3D convolutional neural network. The descriptors include: (i) a Gibbs energy for a prelearned 7th-order Markov-Gibbs random field (MGRF) model of visual appearance, (ii) an adaptive shape prior model, and (iii) a first-order appearance model of the original volume to be segmented. The neural network fuses the computed descriptors to obtain the final voxel-wise probabilities of the goal regions.

  • Patent number: 10667778
Abstract: A system and computation method is disclosed that identifies radiation-induced lung injury after radiation therapy using 4D computed tomography (CT) scans. After deformable image registration, the method segments lung fields, extracts functional and textural features, and classifies lung tissues. The deformable registration locally aligns consecutive phases of the respiratory cycle using gradient descent minimization of the conventional dissimilarity metric. Then an adaptive shape prior, a first-order intensity model, and a second-order lung tissues homogeneity descriptor are integrated to segment the lung fields. In addition to common lung functionality features, such as ventilation and elasticity, specific regional textural features are estimated by modeling the segmented images as samples of a novel 7th-order contrast-offset-invariant Markov-Gibbs random field (MGRF). Finally, a tissue classifier is applied to distinguish between the injured and normal lung tissues.

  • Publication number: 20190359070
Abstract: A battery for a motor vehicle has a battery wall that encloses a battery interior, an extinguishing agent reservoir situated in the battery interior, in which an extinguishing agent is accommodated, and at least one battery cell that is situated in the battery interior separate from the extinguishing agent. The extinguishing agent reservoir has a reservoir wall for retaining the extinguishing agent, and the reservoir wall has a first wall temperature at a normal operating temperature of the battery cell and has a second wall temperature at a limiting operating temperature of the battery cell. The reservoir wall is designed to maintain sealtightness for retaining the extinguishing agent at the first wall temperature and to be destroyed by the heat at the second wall temperature. The second wall temperature is greater than the first wall temperature, and the reservoir wall may be brought to the second wall temperature by means of the battery cell of the battery.
