  • Patent number: 8941466
Abstract: For user authentication, finger touch information from a user is accepted via a touch sensitive element, the finger touch information including at least a time series of finger touch samples that define a trace of the user's signature, and each of the finger touch samples including centroid coordinates and non-centroid information, the non-centroid information including at least one of (A) a shape of the finger touch sample, (B) a size of the finger touch sample, (C) an orientation of the finger touch sample, and (D) characteristics of a multi-touch finger touch sample. A similarity of such finger touch samples with previously entered and stored finger touch samples is determined and compared with a threshold for purposes of user authentication.

  • Patent number: 8687941
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for automatic static summarization of videos. For example, a method of creating a static summary of a video comprises the following steps. Shots in the video are detected, wherein the detected shots are frames of the video having a correlation. The detected shots are clustered into clusters based on similarity. The clusters of shots are ranked. At least a portion of the shots are selected based on cluster ranking for inclusion in the static summary. The static summary is generated by combining thumbnail images of the selected shots. Prior to the ranking step, the method may further comprise detecting a presence of slides in any of the shots, and the ranking of a given shot is based in part on whether the shot is a slide. By way of example, such static summaries can be shared in emails and in calendar applications.

  • Patent number: 8335744
Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting copies of documents are described. In one example, a system and method for detecting copies of documents utilizes multiple authentication tests performed using original and scanned copy detection patterns. The system captures a CDP that may be skewed or improperly sized. The system also retrieves or reconstitutes the expected CDP. Then the system performs a first correlation to determine if the captured CDP indicates the correct document identification and then if necessary, one or more authentication tests are applied wherein the authentication test may be grouped into distinct orthogonal test groups. The authentication tests applied may be selected according to usefulness, system throughput or target document valuation parameters.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: December 18, 2012
