    Abstract: A rotary actuator and a method of additively manufacturing the same are provided. The rotary actuator includes a valve housing defining a valve chamber and a shaft channel extending from the valve chamber. A valve body includes a valve shaft extending through the shaft channel and a valve head positioned within the valve chamber and defining a head width that is larger than the channel diameter to inseparably join the valve body and the valve housing. The valve head divides the valve chamber into a first chamber and a second chamber which are in fluid communication with a first port and a second port, respectively. The valve body is rotated by adjusting a fluid pressure within at least one of the first chamber and the second chamber.

The valve assembly includes a valve housing defining first and second mounting features, such as recessed dimples or protruding bumps, positioned on opposite sides of a substantially cylindrical channel to define a hinge axis. One or more valve flaps are positioned within the cylindrical channel, each valve flap including a hinge member extending along the hinge axis and defining two or more complementary features or coupling members for engaging either the mounting features of the valve housing or an adjacent hinge member.

    Abstract: A gas turbine engine includes a compressor section having a high pressure compressor, the high pressure compressor including an aft-most compressor stage. The gas turbine engine also includes a combustion section having a stage of discharge nozzles, the stage of discharge nozzles located downstream of the aft-most compressor stage and upstream of a diffuser cavity. The gas turbine engine also includes a high pressure spool drivingly coupled to the high pressure compressor, the high pressure spool forming in part a compressor discharge pressure seal and including a forward spool section. The forward spool section extends between the compressor discharge pressure seal and the aft-most compressor stage, the forward spool section defining an airflow cavity for providing a cooling airflow from the diffuser cavity to the aft-most compressor stage.
