    Abstract: Disclosed are biomarkers and methods for accurate non-invasive diagnosis or prognosis of liver fibrosis in subjects with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The biomarkers include circulating levels of thrombospondin 2 (TSP2) and can be measured at any time during the course of the disease. The methods include any one of non-invasive evaluation of circulating levels of TSP2 alone, or together with other molecular biomarkers, physiologic or radiographic biomarkers. The methods are highly sensitive and detect advanced liver fibrosis with a sensitivity of about or greater than 80%. The methods may use the circulating levels of TSP2 alone, or together with other molecular biomarkers, physiologic or radiographic biomarkers to accurately predict the risk of developing advanced liver fibrosis in a subject.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a power conversion circuit for quick response and a switching power supply, wherein an error compensation signal is obtained according to a sampled signal representing an output feedback signal or an average current through the inductor. A PWM control signal is generated according to the error compensation signal, a ramp signal, and a proportional signal, and is used to control switching operations of a main power switch transistor, the proportional signal is proportional to an input voltage or/and an output voltage, thus the system can quickly respond to transient change of the input voltage or the output signal and provide stable output. Output voltage information or/and input voltage information can be fed back to a control loop, thus the system can quickly obtain a switching duty cycle which allows the system to operate in a state close to steady, and dynamic response speed of the system is fast.

    Abstract: An improved method for the chemical synthesis of glycosylated peptides has been developed. The method uses stereoselective glycan synthesis and chemical peptide ligation to produce glycopeptides at lower-cost and with higher efficiency/yield compared to conventional methods. In particular, a method for the large-scale, chemical synthesis of hydroxylated amino acid building blocks and glycosylated amino acids suitable for solid phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) are disclosed. SPPS-based methods using the glycosylated amino acids to chemically synthesize adiponectin-like peptides are also described. In vivo studies show that the adiponectin mimicking glycopeptides exhibit significant anticancer, anti-obesity and insulin sensitizing effects. Pharmaceutical compositions of the synthetic glycopeptides and methods of use thereof in treating diseases associated with deficient adiponectin are also described.

    Abstract: The present invention provides an A-FABP neutralizing monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof and a preparation method and use thereof, which comprises: complementarity determining regions 1 to 3 of a heavy chain variable region, the amino acid sequences of which are set forth in SEQ ID NOs:1-3, respectively, and/or complementarity determining regions 1-3 of the light chain variable region, the amino acid sequences of which are set forth in SEQ ID NOs:4-6. This monoclonal antibody is highly specific for A-FABP and has no cross-reactivity with human and mouse epidermal FABP and heart FABP; it has a good binding affinity for human A-FABP and mouse A-FABP; and its treatment alleviates MCAO-induced ischemic stroke injury in mice, which is associated with alleviated BBB disruption and reduced activation of pro-inflammatory JNK signaling; treatment of healthy mice for 21 days does not change physiological parameters, indicating its safety.
