Abstract: A duplicated part of identical images in an encoded image data master is judged to be selected. Image data to be reused is generated by adding a storage instruction to encoded image data of the duplicated part of the first identical image, and converting encoded image data of the duplicated part of the second identical image into a reuse instruction. In a reproduction process, decoded data in the encoded image data part including the storage instruction is stored in a vacant area and the decoded data is read at the point of the reuse instruction.
Abstract: In the motion picture data converter, an MPEG-2 decoding unit decodes motion picture data in an MPEG-2 format in to motion picture data in an on-compressed format, a motion vector extraction unit extracts motion vector information from the motion picture data being decoded in said MPEG-2 decoding unit, a motion compensation unit generates the motion vector information in the MPEG-4 format, by causing the extracted motion vector information to be reflected in the motion compensation processing for the MPEG-4 format, and executes the motion compensation processing based on the motion vector information, and an MPEG-4 encoding unit encodes motion picture data in the MPEG-4 format, using the motion compensation processed data and the motion picture data in the non-compressed format.

Abstract: The internet telephone adapter connected to the conventional telephone set has a problem of not being able to make a normal telephone call by switching to the PSTN line when the internet telephone cannot be used. As for the telephone equipment adapter connected to both the PSTN line and the IP network, the PSTN_line_signal_transmitting/receiving_unit 1100 inputs a telephone number and a message information from the telephone set 10, then the designation identifying unit 200 obtains an IP address by mapping the telephone number, and generates a route selecting information, and hands over the route selecting information to the line_connection13 switching_unit 100. Based on the route selecting information, the line_connection_switching_unit 100 selects one of a route PSTN line 13 and a route from the IP_network_communication_processing_unit 5000 via the IP network 14, and transmits the message information to the telephone set 20.
Abstract: Encrypted music information or the like and encryption processing information itself employed for the encrypting is transmitted from a set top box (BX) to a recorder (R) via a serial bus (B) after decoded, and the music information or the like is recorded in a DVD-R (1). Upon this recording, the music information encoded by employing an asynchronous transmission region in the IEEE 1394 standard that is a standard with which the serial bus (B) conforms is transmitted at a high speed. On the other hand, encode processing information encoded by employing an isochronous transmission region in the IEEE 1394 standard is transmitted at a 1-fold speed.

Abstract: A method for producing a multilayer ceramic circuit substrate having therein internal conductor patterns comprising W and/or Mo as a main component and surface conductor patterns comprising Cu as a main component formed onto a surface layer of the multilayer ceramic circuit substrate, wherein an intermediate metal layer comprising 40 to 90 wt. % of W and/or Mo and 10 to 60 wt. % of at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ir, Pt, Ti, and Cr is formed in through-holes of the surface layer and on parts of the surface layer in the vicinity of the through holes on the surface layer, whereby the internal conductor patterns and the surface conductor patterns are electrically connected through the intermediate metal layer. The alumina multilayer ceramic circuit substrate enables an excellent bonding strength and electrical conductivity between the internal conductors and the surface conductors and high precision wiring and miniaturization of an electronic circuit part.

Abstract: A television scrambling system of the GSS type includes a false key signal to defeat pirate decoders. The false key is placed approximately one half a horizontal line period following the last horizontal sync pulse preceding the vertical blanking interval of the television signal. If the pirate decoder is set to attenuate the video portion of the picture signal in response to receipt of a standard GSS scrambled signal, the pirate decoders will attenuate only the sync portion of the picture signal in response to a signal scrambled with the false key.
Abstract: A sentence forming apparatus forms a plurality of semantically equivalent sentences simultaneously in a plurality of languages by a conversational system. The apparatus includes a semantic dictionary memory which stores a plurality of indexes in a first language, a plurality of words in the first language semantically in coordination respectively with the indexes and grammatical information relating to the respective words, and first language syntax dictionary memory and second language syntax dictionary memory which store information concerning grammatical syntax and word in the corresponding language. A selection menu is formed based on the contents of the semantic dictionary. The apparatus further includes first language sentence assembler and second language sentence assembler which assemble, respectively, the first language sentence and the second language sentence utilizing the information concerning the grammatical syntax and word in the respective languages, in accordance with the selection menu.
Abstract: A CATV system includes a security system incorporated therein through which a subscriber can automatically or manually transmit various warning or emergency signals to the CATV base station. Apparatus at the base operates to determine the type of warning signal received, and transmits a corresponding confirmation signal to the particular home unit. An indicator on the unit gives a visual indication of the receipt of the corresponding confirmation signal.
Abstract: In a cable television system of the type wherein a cable television signal including free and restricted television channels is subjected to selective frequency conversion at individual terminal units to obtain a desired one of the channels for observation, a signal detector is provided for detecting the presence or absence of a polling signal from the central facility and the frequency converter is either disabled or adjusted for reception of a free channel if no polling signal is received.
Abstract: A fail-safe CATV system center facility in which abnormalities in a normal down-data signal transmitter are automatically corrected for so that there is no loss of reception at the terminal units. FM and AM detectors detect the presence or absence of the normal FSK data signal. The outputs of the FM and AM detectors are AND'ed together then delayed to control the switch state of a switch which selects between the outputs of the normal down data signal transmitter and a back-up transmitter for coupling through to the cable system. The back-up transmitter produces a clock signal which is obtained by modulating a carrier signal having the same frequency as that of the normal down data signal, preferably a frequency shift keyed signal.
