  • Patent number: 4688248
Abstract: A pay television system generally comprises a signal generating center, signal distributers and subscriber devices. The center produces and combines a television signal and a control signal and supplies the combined signal to a common cable, and each distributer includes subscriber units which receive the television signal through a first filter and control units which receive the control signal through a second filter.

  • Patent number: 4500921
Abstract: A television system includes a transmitting station transmits a TV signal after adding a pilot carrier having a frequency within the video signal band to the video signal and includes a receiver which selectively takes out the pilot carrier by means of a bandpass filter and uses the pilot carrier as an AGC reference signal.

  • Patent number: 4369462
Abstract: A coding system for use in a television system wherein at least a part of a television signal is inverted by an encoder at a broadcasting station, according to a code signal and the coded television signal is decoded by decoders of specific subscribers to be reproduced on TV sets. The coding system is comprised of a clock oscillation means, a mode generating means for generating signals indicating plural inversion modes, a counter for counting clock signals from the clock oscillation means, a setting means for outputting a predetermined signal based on addresses provided corresponding to the respective inversion modes of the mode generating means and determined by an output from the counter, and a means for inserting the code signal during a vertical blanking period of the television signal. When the output signal of the mode generating means and the output signal of the setting means are in a given relation, the count value of the counter is used as the code signal.

  • Patent number: 4350848
Abstract: In a system for communicating data between two stations interconnected by way of a telephone line, a data transmission system wherein at least one of the stations includes a telephone set normally connected to said telephone line, a line changer, a data transmitter and a signal detector. When another station is called through the telephone set and a predetermined signal transmitted from said another station is detected by the signal detector, the line changer switches the telephone line from the telephone set to the data transmitter.

  • Patent number: 4250524
Abstract: A validation apparatus in a pay television system, including a code detector means for successively detecting a sequence of code signals, from an encoded composite TV signal, a key code circuit means having a key code so as to validate the sequence of code signals detected in said code detector means for generating a first, a second and a third control signals in response to said sequence of code signals, a polarity flip-flop means being set by the first control signal, thereby assuming a first state and being reset by the second control signal, thereby assuming a second state and being toggled by the third control signal, thereby changing from the first state to the second state or changing from the second state to the first state, a counter means for generating an output signal when the number of state changes in said flip-flop means reaches a predetermined value, a feature detector means for generating an output signal when the detector means receives said third control signal in a predetermined number of
