    Abstract: The invention relates to a polymerization catalyst for alpha-olefins and a process for polymerizing alpha-olefins. The catalyst comprises a component having a transition metal compound supported on a carrier and an aluminoxane. The carrier may be pre-treated with an organometallic compound, a halogen-containing silicon compound or an aluminoxane. Alternatively, the above two catalyst components are subjected to preliminary polymerization of olefins. The catalyst of this invention enables the production of a spherical polymer having a good particle size distribution, an excellent bulk density and a narrow molecular weight distribution in a slurry polymerization method or a vapor-phase polymerization method, particulary the vapor-phase polymerization method. When applied to the copolymerization of at least two olefins, the catalyst has excellent polymerization activity such that an olefin copolymer having a narrow molecular weight distribution and a narrrow composition distribution is obtained.

    Abstract: The thermoplastic resin composition of the present invention comprises (A) polyamide having a melting point of not lower than 280.degree. C., particularly preferably (A-1) specific polyamide having a melting point of higher than 300.degree. C., (B) a specific modified polymer, (C) a hindered phenol type antioxidant having a molecular weight of not less than 500 and a TGA 10% weight loss temperature of not lower than 300.degree. C., and (D) a sulfur type antioxidant having a molecular weight of not less than 600 and a TGA 10% weight loss temperature of not lower than 280.degree. C. The molded product of the present invention is made of the above-mentioned thermoplastic resin composition. The thermoplastic resin composition of the invention is excellent in heat stability.

The polymerization process gives olefin polymers having a narrow molecular weight distribution and by the copolymerization of two or more olefins, gives olefin copolymers having a narrow molecular weight distribution and a narrow composition distribution.

    Abstract: A prepolymerized solid catalyst for gaseous phase or slurry polymerization of alpha olefins is disclosed. The catalyst comprises a porous carrier having a particle size of 20 to 200 microns onto which has been deposited an aluminoxane and a transition metal compound having at least one cycloalkadienyl group, the transition metal being from group 4 of the Periodic Table. The transition metal is present in an amount of 0.003 to 3 mmol/gm of carrier, and the aluminum to transition metal atomic ratio is from 15 to 1000. This catalyst is then prepolymerized with 0.2 to 30 gm of an alpha olefin per gram of catalyst to form the final prepolymerized solid catalyst having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.2 to 20 dl/gm as measured in decalin at 135 deg C.

Also provided is a process for polymerizing or copolymerizing an olefin in the presence of the above catalyst.

According to the said process, said copolymer can be produced at a high activity and its molecular weight can be controlled in a wide range.
