Publication number: 20040222630Abstract: A connecting structure and method for affixing an open end of a tube composed from thermoplastic resin material(s) to a tube connecting portion of a quick connector having a cylindrical geometry and at least one annular stopper on the cylindrical outer circumference thereof with said tube connecting portion being adapted to be press fitted into said open end of said resin tube. The connecting structure comprises; an annular band composed of elastomeric rubber which surrounds the open end of said resin tube adjacent the location of attachment to said quick connector having a length at least about equal to the diameter of the cylindrical outer circumference of the quick connector and a diameter such that a tightening force is applied to the resin tube upon press fitting said tube connecting portion into the open end of said resin tube to prevent disengagement therefrom. The connecting structure forms an integrated assembly with the tube connecting portion of the quick connector.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 9, 2004Publication date: November 11, 2004Inventors: Kazutaka Katayama, Akira Takayanagi

Patent number: 6129393Abstract: A quick connector assembly includes a male member, a female member, and a retainer. The retainer is interposed between a ring-shaped projection of the male member and a first engagement portion of the female member to connect the male member and female member. When a worker holds operation end portions of the retainer with his or her fingers, the retainer is reduced diametrically so that a second engagement portion of the retainer disengages from the first engagement portion of the female member. Accordingly, the male member and retainer can be pulled off from the female member easily. The retainer holds the male member by fitting its aperture windows with the ring-shaped projection of the male member. Consequently, the retainer hardly falls down from the male member after it is removed from the female member.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 1998Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Assignee: Tokai Rubber Industries, LtdInventors: Tsutomu Kodama, Tomohide Ito, Akira Takayanagi

Patent number: 5551735Abstract: A tube fitting includes a tubular body, an annular clamping member, a tubular inner pipe, a releasing member, and a sealing ring. The clamping member is disposed axially movably in an axial bore of the body, and includes a claw and an outer peripheral portion. The claw has an inclined surface projecting in a centripetal direction as the inclined surface extends away from an opening of the body, and engages with an outer peripheral surface of a tube fitted into the axial bore via the opening. The outer peripheral portion contacts with a regulatory surface of the body, and is pressed in a centripetal direction thereby, and accordingly presses the claw onto the outer peripheral surface of the tube. The inner pipe is disposed in the tube coaxially with an inner peripheral surface of the tube at an end of the tube. The releasing member includes a tubular base and a leading end. The base is disposed axially movably in the axial bore on an outer side with respect to the regulatory surface.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1994Date of Patent: September 3, 1996Assignees: Tokai Rubber Industries, Ltd., Kabushiki Kaisha AOIInventors: Akira Takayanagi, Toshihiro Kumagai, Kinji Hosoya
