  • Publication number: 20130016449
Abstract: In an embodiment, a self-defense system is disclosed. The self-defense system may include or comprise a material sized to conform to an appendage, and a defense unit coupled with the material and positioned to initiate a defense event in response to an input.

  • Patent number: 8351221
Abstract: The present disclosure is related to an electronic assembly in a stacked configuration. Electronic components are formed on substrates at each level of the stacked configuration. Electromagnetic shield compartments may be provided which substantially encapsulate the electronic components. Conductive vias are formed within the substrates on each level of the stacked configuration and coupled to one another so that the electromagnetic shields at each level of the stack can couple to a common node.

  • Publication number: 20120044653
Abstract: Embodiments include devices and methods for manufacturing a module having a first shielded compartment and a second shielded compartment, wherein the first shielded compartment is electrically isolated from the second shielded compartment. Electrical conductivity is controlled in a manner in which current flow between shielded circuits is directed to reduce or eliminate energy from being coupled between one or more shielded compartments on the same module. Each module may have a plurality of individual shielded compartments, where each compartment has a dedicated ground plane. The shields for each compartment may be tied to the dedicated ground plane of the compartment. Because the dedicated ground planes are not tied together, each of the shielded compartments on the modules remains isolated from all the other shielded compartments on the modules. In some embodiments having a plurality of shielded compartments, there is at least one isolated shielded compartment depending upon the design needs of the module.

  • Publication number: 20050110496
Abstract: Magnetometry and pulsed electromagnetic radiation (EM) may be employed during a same survey pass by synchronously interleaving the collection of magnetometer data with pulses from EM sensors. For example, one or more magnetometers may be sampled between pulses of one or more EM coils such that the data from the one or more magnetometers is substantially free of artifacts from the pulsed EM radiation. A detection system may include a vehicle capable of locomotion over a surface of earth, a mount coupled to the vehicle, the mount including at least one magnetometer, at least one EM sensor adapted to produce pulses of EM radiation, and a controller adapted to interleave collection of data from the at least one magnetometer between the pulses of EM radiation.

  • Patent number: 5469176
Abstract: A method and apparatus for resolving a radar return by an object or layer below the earth's surface from a radar return of an air-to-earth interface. More specifically, a method and apparatus for generating short pulsewidth, broad bandwidth RF signals and for effecting control and timing of transmitted and received radar signals in order to focus an antenna illumination pattern. The apparatus includes an antenna array including a plurality of antenna elements which transmit and receive the RF pulsed signals and a custom control module which generates the control signals fed to the antenna array to delay the RF pulse signals with respect to each other, upon transmission and receipt, in order to form transmit and receive antenna illumination patterns.
