    Abstract: Alignment guide systems, fixation guide devices, and methods for positioning and inserting an intramedullary nail are disclosed. The alignment guide system includes a targeting guide with a first end and a second end, an alignment wire rotatably engaging a second end of the targeting guide, and a guide sleeve insert engaging an opening in the first end of the targeting guide. The fixation guide device including a frame including a first end and a second end, a compression device slidingly coupled to the first end of the frame, and the intramedullary nail secured to a nail attachment apparatus of the frame. A method of inserting an intramedullary nail into two bones for fixation of the two bones is also disclosed.

An angelwing alignment member includes a portion receivable in the first opening of the alignment arm. An alignment foot is secured to the second portion, and the alignment foot has a handle and a shim. The shim is positionable in a joint between a first bone and a second bone, the alignment arm is alignable relative to a first bone, and the pin tube guide is operable for securing a pin into the first bone.

The alignment system also includes an alignment portion releasably coupled with the clamp portion and including an alignment bar and an extension coupled with the alignment bar and configured to releasably couple with a guide arm. The retention element includes a shaft and a pair of protrusions extending from a distal-most point of the shaft, with the pair of protrusions extend substantially parallel to one another. Also disclosed is a method of coupling the alignment system to the anatomy of a patient, specifically to two bones in the foot of the patient.
