  • Patent number: 8188910
Abstract: The invention relates to the general field of the detection, notably the radar detection, of mobile or fixed targets. It consists of a method making it possible mainly to qualify the blips supplied by the processing subsystem of the detection system before the latter are analyzed to generate tracks, each track being assumed to represent the trajectory of a moving object that has been detected. According to the invention, an analysis duration is considered, and all of the blips detected during this period are considered. These blips are divided up into subsets, each subset corresponding to the blips that, during the analysis duration, have been detected in one and the same analysis channel defined by an initial position and a speed vector. The subsets formed in this way are then grouped together, one and the same group combining the subsets comprising blips for which the combined assertion of a plurality of attributes is verified.

  • Patent number: 6140962
Abstract: A multiface phased array antenna, with each antenna face being provided with a plurality of T/R modules. To preclude the occurrence of crosstalk among the different antenna faces, caused by the steep edges of transmitted RF pulses, these pulses are delayed per T/R module with a delay selected from a predetermined time interval.

  • Patent number: 5943004
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for realizing a radar transmission for a high-resolution radar. According to the method, a number of groups of pulses is transmitted with incremental frequencies, each group also comprising a number of pulses with incremental frequencies, which pulses are transmitted simultaneously or substantially simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 5573218
Abstract: An apparatus for orienting an object mounted on a first plane, for example a radar antenna, with reference to a second plane, for example the deck of a ship. The apparatus includes a stack of three identical, substantially annular housings each of which is provided with an upper surface and a lower surface, these two surfaces not being parallel. Each housing is provided with a drive unit for rotating the upper surface with respect to the lower surface about the housing axis. The drive units are suitable for independently performing the rotations; furthermore control units are provided for controlling the drive units for orienting the object in three degrees of freedom with reference to the second plane.

  • Patent number: 5329284
Abstract: Radar apparatus provided with a transmit generator and antenna means for the transmission of comparatively long, linearly frequency-modulated transmitter pulses. Echo signals are received by antenna means and a heterodyne signal is generated in mixer stage. Propagation time differences for different echo pulses are compensated by means of a dispersive delay element incorporated in the radar receiver. Distortion of the echo pulses in the dispersive delay element is corrected on the basis of a Fresnel ripple correction. A Fourier transformation unit transfers the corrected echo pulses to time domain video with low sidelobes.

  • Patent number: 5278564
Abstract: Radar apparatus for determining the height of a low-elevation target, the target being illuminated by a transmitter (7) and an antenna (3) via a TR-switch (6). Electromagnetic radiation reflected directly by the target and indirectly by the target via the earth surface is received by the antenna (3) and processed in a sum receiver (9, 10, 11), connected via the TR-switch (6) to the antenna (3), into complex sum signals, and in a difference receiver (12, 13, 14), into complex difference signals. A signal processor (15), receiving the complex sum signals and the complex difference signals, is provided with an algorithm which determines the height of the target. The algorithm enables the determination of the target height while the antenna remains directed at the target.
