  • Patent number: 8123543
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a socket with a number of electrical contacts and a loading mechanism surrounding the socket. The loading mechanism includes a stiffener, a load plate, and a latch mounted to opposite ends of the stiffener, respectively. The load plate has a plate portion and a tongue extending downwardly from the plate portion at said opposite end. The load plate and the latch rotate on opposite ends of the stiffener from an open position to a closed position. The latch defines a pair of looped sections snapping a pair of protrusions on the tongue as to lock the load plate on the stiffener at the closed position.

  • Patent number: 7909621
Abstract: An electrical connector includes an insulative housing with a number of passageways, a number of electrical contacts received in the passageways and a number of solder balls disposed on the electrical contacts respectively. Each electrical contact includes a contacting portion projecting out of the insulative housing, a retention portion retained in the passageways, and a solder portion. Each solder ball defines a gap which can be deformed to close the solder portion of the electrical contact by external force.

  • Patent number: 7819688
Abstract: A socket adapted for electrically connecting an IC package and a PCB, comprising: a body mounted on the PCB for electrically connecting the IC package, a holder mounted on the PCB and beside the body and a clip for retaining the IC package in the body. The clip has two hook portions by which the clip pivotally assembles to the holder. The hook portion has an arched portion and a tab extending from the arched portion, the tab can abut against the holder to prevent the clip from over-rotation.

  • Patent number: 7794237
Abstract: An electrical connector comprises an insulative housing defining a plurality of passageways, the passageways each defining an upper section, a lower section of a diameter larger than that of the upper section, and a plurality of contact sets respectively disposed in the passageways. Each of the contacts sets includes an upper contact loosely captured within the upper section and a lower contact retained in the lower section. The upper contact defines a lower end extending in the lower section and is able to abut against an interface between the two sections, so as to retrain upward movement of the upper contact. The upper contact is movable relating to the lower contact under condition that one of said upper contact and the lower contact is deformed to provide a restored force to ensure electrical connection between the two contacts when the upper contact is moved toward said lower contact.

  • Patent number: 7658633
Abstract: A socket adapted for electrically connecting an IC package and a PCB, comprising: a body mounted on the PCB for electrically connecting the IC package, two bolts mounted on the PCB and beside the body and a clip for retaining the IC package in the body. The bolt has a header portion on the top with biggest size, a middle portion and a screw portion engaging with the PCB. The clip has two attaching portions, each defining a hatch at a free end thereof, the clip links with the bolt by inserting the attaching portion toward the bolt to make the middle portion be received in the hatch and the header portion be upon the hatch to prevent the attaching portion from upward movement.
