  • Publication number: 20100058594
Abstract: A shaving device comprises a head structure (2) and a base structure (4). The head structure (2) is configured to retain and support at least one shaving head (30A, 30B, 30C). The head structure (2) is releasably retainable on the base structure (4). The base structure (4) is free of support elements in an area of an outer circumference of the head structure (2) such that the head structure (2), when coupled to the base structure (4), is not supported in the area of its outer circumference. The head structure (2), when coupled to the base structure (4), is substantially only retained on the base structure (4) by a retaining force provided by a retaining structure of the base structure (4).

  • Publication number: 20090025227
Abstract: The invention relates to a cutter member (15) for a rotary shaver (1), comprising a number of cutters (20?, 20?), arranged in at least two rings (R1, R2) around a central axis (C), and a number of upwardly bent arms (22?, 22?), connecting the cutters (20?, 20?) to a central base (21). The rings are formed by bending some of the arms (22?, 22?) more outward and/or inward than others. The invention furthermore relates to a rotary shaver (1), comprising a cutter member (15) according to the invention, and a method for making such a cutter member (15) by consecutively cutting a blank of sheet material so as to have a number of arms with cutters (20?, 20?) and by bending some of the arms (22?, 22?) more outward and/or inward than others, so as to arrange the cutters (20?, 20?) in at least two rings (R1, R2).

  • Publication number: 20090025228
Abstract: The invention relates to an inner cutter unit (5) for a rotary shaver (1), comprising a plurality of cutter blades (16, 17, 18), arranged at different radii (r1, r2, r3) from a rotation axis (C) of said unit (5). Depending on their respective positions within the unit (5), the respective cutter blades (16, 17, 18) may be provided with different wedge angles (?1,2,3) and/or different bending resistance. The invention furthermore relates to a method for making such an inner cutter unit, a shaver head provided with an inner cutter unit and an outer cutter unit, wherein the design of the outer unit is adapted to that of the inner unit. The invention furthermore relates to a rotary shaver provided with at least one inner cutter unit according to the invention.

  • Patent number: 6938344
Abstract: An auxiliary part (7) for an electric shaver, for mounting and removing accessories such as a skin-stretcher (9), a lubricator (14), etc. on and from the outer cutting member (4) of the shaver. To provide a cheap and simple part for mounting and removing accessories around and/or on a shaving head in a simple and quick manner, the auxiliary part is formed by an element (8) which at one side can be connected by snapping onto the outer cutting member (4) and at its other side has a device or structure for removably fastening one or more accessories (9, 14).

  • Patent number: 6722038
Abstract: Shaving apparatus having at least one pivotable cutting unit (3) comprising an external cutting member (4) and an internal cutting member (6) which is drivable relative to said external cutting member, a drive mechanism (8) for driving said internal cutting member (6) into rotation, and a coupling member (18) having a coupling head (19) and a coupling body (20), which coupling head can be coupled to a coupling element (16) of the internal cutting member (6) in a detachable manner, said coupling body (20) being coupled to said driving mechanism (8). The coupling head (19) can be inserted into a cavity (21) of the coupling head (19). For driving said internal cutting member into rotation, the coupling head (19) comprises curved surfaces (25) for cooperation with surfaces (28) of said cavity (21).

  • Patent number: 6502309
Abstract: Method of manufacturing a blade-shaped hair-pulling element (13) for a cutting unit (3) of a shaver. The shaver comprises a plurality of cutter elements (8) and a corresponding plurality of hair-pulling elements (13) each arranged in front of one of the cutter elements for movement therewith relative to an outer cutting member (4) and each slidable on the inner cutter element so as to be movable relative thereto for its hair-pulling action. In order to increase the distance over which the hairs are pulled up, an end portion (22) of each hair-pulling element (13) has an enlarged thickness. The hair-pulling element is obtained by means of a process of shaping the outline (stamping, etching, laser) followed by a bending process. The method to obtain the thickened end part (20) is characterized in that during the process of shaping the outline, the hair-pulling element is provided with a tab (23) which in a following bending process is bent against the end portion (22) of the hair-pulling element.
