  • Publication number: 20230189355
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first user equipment (UE), which may be a relay device, may establish a sidelink communication link for communications between a base station and a second UE via the first UE. The first UE may receive control signaling from the base station indicating a configuration for transmitting a power headroom report for transmissions scheduled over the sidelink communication link. The first UE may determine a power headroom associated with transmissions from the first UE to the second UE, which may be based on a transmission power capability of the first UE, and the first UE may transmit a power headroom report to the base station. The base station may schedule communications with the second UE based on the received power headroom report from the first UE.

  • Patent number: 11672011
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a transmitter node may determine a set of desired transmit beams to use for transmissions during a channel occupancy time (COT), wherein each transmit beam in the set of desired transmit beams is associated with an energy detection threshold (EDT). The transmitter node may configure a sensing beam associated with a directional listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure, wherein the sensing beam is associated with an EDT that is at least as strict as a strictest EDT associated with the set of desired transmit beams. The transmitter node may transmit using the set of desired transmit beams during the COT, wherein the COT is initiated based at least in part on an indication that the directional LBT procedure succeeded using the sensing beam. Numerous other aspects are described.

  • Publication number: 20230171074
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) in communication with a base station may support updating a bandwidth part (BWP) width from a default configuration. The UE may identify a first BWP, where the first BWP is a default BWP for communication with the base station. The UE may receive an indication of a second BWP from the base station that is wider than the first BWP. The indication may, in some cases, be included in a remaining minimum system information (RMSI), a master information block (MIB), or the like. The UE may select, based on the received indication and an operating band of the base station, the second BWP for communications between the UE and the base station. The UE and the base station may communicate using the second BWP.

  • Patent number: 11665700
Abstract: Aspects are provided which improve LBT by associating contention windows with transmission burst lengths and by allowing contention windows and maximum burst lengths to be adjusted based on interference activity. For downlink, a UE receives a PG for a downlink transmission from a base station indicating a CCA length based on a contention window size associated at least with a burst length for the downlink transmission. The UE performs, after receiving the pre-grant, a CCA based on the CCA length, transmits an APG to the base station when the CCA is successful, and receives the downlink transmission in response to the APG. For uplink, the base station performs a CCA based on a contention window associated at least with a burst length for an uplink transmission, transmits an uplink grant to the UE when the CCA is successful, and receives the uplink transmission in response to the uplink grant.

  • Patent number: 11665739
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine a fixed frame period (FFP) configured for the UE in a frame based equipment mode. The FFP configured for the UE includes one or more idle periods and a channel occupancy time that is offset from an FFP configured for a base station communicating with the UE over an unlicensed channel. The UE may refrain from transmitting over the unlicensed channel during the one or more idle periods. The one or more idle periods may at least partially overlap with a time period in which the base station refrains from transmitting over the unlicensed channel. Numerous other aspects are provided.

  • Patent number: 11653386
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment may monitor for a transmission over a set of periodically scheduled resources (e.g., semi-persistently scheduled resources)) of a downlink shared channel in an unlicensed spectrum. The user equipment may receive the transmission, where the transmission indicates a channel access configuration (e.g., a listen-before-talk configuration) for accessing the unlicensed spectrum. In some cases, the transmission may include a medium access control (MAC) control element (MAC-CE) that indicates the channel access configuration. The transmission may additionally indicate at least one uplink channel over which the user equipment may transmit a message and/or a channel occupancy time associated with a successful acquisition of the unlicensed spectrum by the base station. The user equipment may transmit a message (e.g., an acknowledgement) based on the channel access configuration.

  • Patent number: 11647383
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for communications between a user equipment (UE) and a base station via one or more relays. The UE and base station may establish a direct connection according to a first UE capability, and the UE may identify one or more relays that are in proximity to the UE and that may be used for relaying communications between the UE and the base station. The UE may provide a capability indication of a second UE capability to the base station that indicates transmission parameters associated with at least one relay, which the base station may use to communicate with the UE via the relay. The base station may select which UE capability to use for communications, which may result in either direct communications with the UE or a connection via the relay.

  • Publication number: 20230136223
Abstract: A communication configuration is selected based on the bandwidth used by a wireless communication device during a random access procedure (e.g., on an unlicensed band). In some scenarios, the maximum transmit power that the wireless communication device can use may be significantly restricted (e.g., by a regulation). In some cases (e.g., when the wireless communication device is near a center of a cell), the wireless communication device may transmit the random access information using a default bandwidth. In other cases (e.g., when the wireless communication device is near a cell edge), the wireless communication device may transmit the random access information using a wider bandwidth (e.g., to increase the coverage of the transmission). In some aspects, the maximum bandwidth used for the random access procedure may be used to select at least one communication configuration that is used for a subsequent communication (e.g., data or control signaling).

  • Patent number: 11641672
Abstract: Adaptive energy detection (ED) threshold medium access is discussed based on deployment and traffic type. The network nodes sharing a shared communication network are configured with multiple discrete ED thresholds or a range of ED values. As a transmitting node prepares to attempt access to the shared communication spectrum, it identifies an access trigger condition within the network. Such a condition may include traffic type, deployment, or access conditions. In response to detecting an access trigger condition, the transmitting node may select an ED threshold associated with the access trigger condition. Alternatively, upon detection of the access trigger condition, the transmitting node may implement a random ED threshold from the candidate range of ED threshold values.
